    Snus (Snuff) is a tobacco product, originating from a variant of dry snuff in early 18th-century Sweden. It is placed between the upper lip and gum for extended periods, as a form of sublabial administration. Snus is not fermented. Although used similarly to American dipping tobacco, snus does not typically result in the need for spitting and, unlike naswar, snus is steam-pasteurized.

    7:27, Here they are talking about ther mate Axel. Unfortunately/funnily enough the name Axel is also the word for shoulder as well as axle and axis in swedish, and therefore the subtitles say shoulder..... XD Don't ask me how I know... ;P

    They run this in trainers because the field week, as a whole, is about experience and learning stuff. Running in boots doesn't serve this purpose. We want to deplete their blood sugar not test or up their physical endurance. Plus running in boots more often leads to tibia stress fractures. If that happens the recruit will miss needed experiences. Well, this comment sounds like I lectured someone. Not my intent, just explaining.

    Noveber temperature there where they are can be anything from +10C down to -10C. The worst part in novemeber is that daylight is really short and the air is very wet. So the cold feal really harsh. Even if say -5C may not sound that bad, when its so wet, its not fun

    Temperature vary a lot depending on where you are in Sweden. I would prefer snow and really cold before this that looks like the wet and a bit cold. I really sucks when you can’t simply prepare for really cold weather and need to grind through this thing we call “rått” weather.

    Here where the recruits are, Close to Lake Vättern (High humidity) it's subzero at night in November, close to December. Due to the humidity that feels like -15 up in the North of Sweden in winter where the humidity in the air is that of a desert (Arctic for you)

    Snus or “snuff” is in Swedish military (and society) a basic cultural staple. Or as Pippin in Lord of the Rings said “a few well earned comforts” for sailor and soldiers. I would say somewhere around 80% of Swedish military uses snuff.

    it's obviously different temperatures where in Sweden they are but it's maybe 5 to -5°c(41°F to 23 °F)

  • @Hierophant_SWE
    @Hierophant_SWE 7 месяцев назад +8

    But the Temperature question, November in their region is usually wet and frost at night but thawing during the day. It’s the worst. You are in a much better situation in freezing temperatures since you are usually dry. This is both wet and cold, a bad combination.

    The temperatures vary since it's a long country, Karlsborg is located quite far down south so it won't be as cold as the high north, there isn't really a great deal of snow in the south, maybe a few weeks every winter, but it can still be grim, around 0 to +5 C daytime I would say in Västra Götaland county(where Karlsborg is located) in November, if you go out to the (west)coast in the same county the cold can be very raw and penetrating even if it doesn't get more than maybe max - 10 C at the peak of the winter, add windchill from the north sea and it can be absolutely disgusting, some would say that a cold day there feels a lot worse than in the north, even if it can be minus 30-40 up there.

    • @annaolsson5441

      Tried - 36 up north with a winter excercise I'll take that any day over minus 11 in the Gothenburg area because that is just awful.

    temps in nov can range from 4-0 during the day to -5 (+/-) in but can drop way colder in mid dec-feb. Depending on where you are of course. When I did my service we had -45 where I was.

    So the temprature difference is huge between south and north during the winter in Sweden. Were they are in this video in the south i would say the daily mean is around 3 degress celcius in november. With highs around 5-6 degress and lows around 0 but it can be anywere between +10 and -10

  • @yllepluff

    Snuff here is a mistranslation. As mentioned in other comments, 'snus' is a swedish tobacco product that you keep under your lip to get the nicotine into your bloodstream. 'Snuff' is a British tobacco powder that you ingest nasally.

  • @annaolsson5441
    @annaolsson5441 7 месяцев назад

    These are actually the temperatures when you are most at risk for freezing something as it's a combination of cold and wet and suddenly freezing. Really dangerous. It's actually a lot easier to handle with real snow and minus 20 c because then it's drier and you can dig down into the snow and get out in the wind.

    The weather is very different if you are in the southern Sweden or up in the north. In November here in southern Sweden a normal day 8 degree Celsius day time and 4 at night. Up in the north 1 degree day time and the night time -14.

    Temperature and climat depends alot on where in Sweden you are. Where i live westcoast Skåne(scania) southern region in Sweden, its very mild november-december, around 5-15 C during the day. It gets to below 0 c in jan-feb. The soldiers in the video are i Karlsborg, thats about 342Km north of where i live. So a little bit colder, around 5 - 12 c during the day and 0 to -10 during nights. data from 2023.

    These subs really aren't the greatest, some of the translations are just nonsensical. I'm guessing there's at least some machine translation involved.
    Edit: Oh, right. These are just the original Swedish subs that have been autotranslated into English by RUclips. That makes sense.
