How does the MMR system even work? I don't really understand it
You have to turn on location services. MMR is the number that determines your ranking. Eg. Country or even Global ranks.

@@leon-bk1by I was surprised I got 82 in such a short game. I think it is also relative to team’s performance. If say I got mvp and the rest of the team got silver, the MMR could go even higher.
