THANK YOU SO MUCH! I have lost my hair, eyelashes and eyebrows due to chemotherapy for stage 4 cancer. I was given less than 6 months to live and here I am kicking ass a year and a half later. @@tracidelap324 there are no medications that are FDA approved (in the US) to treat trich. Results have generally been disappointing. Meds tend to help the most if the person has anxiety or depression, if it helps those conditions enough so the person can implement other techniques. But meds are not a cure.
There are a few self-help books for Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors, which include trich and skin picking. Search for "The BFRB Recovery Workbook" and the book "Overcoming Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors". You can create a recovery plan that is tailored to your pulling patterns.

Thank you for this tutorial ♡♡♡
I feel a sense of relief reading these comments, and seeing that trichotillamania is so much more common than I thought. I've never even met a person who knows what it is. I've had this problem for years, ever since I was about 10/11 (I'm 36, now). It wasn't until high school that it started getting worse, and then once I reached my 30's, I've been taking out every last hair i had on my face, and when there's none left, I move to plucking out my arm hairs. I was on a medication for OCD, but it only helped a little bit. I finally started getting a little bit of growth (though I still tweezed any lashes or brows that looked way too thick and stubbley) and I thought I was finally going to start recovering; then my Dad passed away 3 weeks ago. All of my progress was for nothing, and now I don't know if I'll ever get them back. I know it at least won't be anytime soon. Trying to navigate a world my dad is no longer in is exhausting, and feels impossible. The night after he passed, I literally spent 3 hours sitting on the bathroom counter, face right up to the mirror, and pulling every single tiny hair I could find. It's been a nightmare. I just bought some really great, false mink lashes, so I hope I'm able to make it look as good as you do!

i'm so sorry for your loss. i lost my dad in 2018 and took many steps backwards in my trich journey. then the pandemic really threw me for a loop. I am currently typing this with less than half my lashes on my face.. but it's better than zero lashes which is what i'm more than capable of.I find that a special eyebrow brush (toothbrush) i apply castor oil to, is great for my brows. i keep a separate one for my lashes. it is harder to pull when they are oily. It is also easier to remind yourself that you are taking daily steps to growing them back when you are really brushing these areas with hair growth oil 1 to 2 times a day. people pretend biotin doesn't work but i'm convinced it does. it also helps to know you are taking a vitamin that is helping with your regrowth. these are the little things i do to try to keep myself on track. good luck

I’m so glad I found your channel! I began suffering bouts of alopecia after my first child stopped breast feeding. It began with shedding hair from my scalp, and progressed to my eyelashes and brows. He was weened in 1999, so I’ve been dealing with this for twenty years. I can go years without any issues, and then it will attack with a vengeance. I’ve tried Rogain, spironolactone, corticosteroids, topical creams, dietary changes and more. I did respond well to the spironolactone, but it has some unpleasant side effects. Anyway, my most recent bout has caused most of my lashes to fall out. This tutorial was wonderful! Thank you for helping others that suffer from similar afflictions. ❤️

I lost 95% of my hair and lashes and brows etc due to thyroid and addisons disease and that started me on a new path with false lashes and also wearing makeup as I went 40+ years with only mascara really and wore makeup for weddings or the once in a blue moon night out but it’s given me a new love of learning and applying makeup I never had as a teen or twenty something. My natural lashes come and go so I’m loving all these fabulous lashes on the market and learning how to put them on without gluing my fingers to them etc has been tricky 😂

Thank you for your video! As someone who is going through chemo therapy, and starting to loose lashes, I’ve been concerned with what false lashes will look like, once mine are completely gone. So to RUclips I went.☺️
You are beautiful and I love listening to your accent. Thanks for sharing!😊

Thank you so much for showing this. It was so helpful! I didn't know about the curling or using your fingers. I gave up on lashes, but I was trying to put them on using that stupid tool thing, I don't know how many lashes I wasted. You have given me the courage to try again. Thank you!

By the grace of god I don’t have trichotillomania or alopecia like the rest of you beautiful ladies, but I do have a very rare autoimmune disease that attacks my eyes, skin and blood vessels. I’ve been blind in my right eye for the last year and through drastic interventions to try to salvage my first cornea transplant (they actually sutured my eyelids shut for several months!) I have now lost ALL my eyelashes on my right eye only. I naturally have really long, thick lashes and I feel like I’ve lost a part of myself even beyond my sight in that eye. I finally decided to try falsies on that side but my god, what a learning curve! Hopefully my problem isn’t forever - I’ve been applying latisse like it’s going out of style trying to get them to regrow, but the scar tissue from the sutures might be keeping new lashes from growing 😢 so in the meantime I’m SO THANKFUL for tutorials like yours to help me learn how to do something I took for granted for 30 years. Thank you so much for creating this video and sharing your journey with us. You are absolutely gorgeous, hair or none, and a wonderful person for helping the rest of us!! ❤

Yay! So glad to see you again. I have had AU for over 30 yrs. Your eyebrow tutorials were so helpful for me. I was finally confident enough to get wigs that didn’t have to hide my brows. Have wanted to try false eyelashes, but failed terribly my first time, so never tried again. Can’t wait to try your technique/tips. You’re the best and just beautiful inside and out!!❤️

I'm SO glad these help, Janette! I promise you, you'll get the hang of the lashes -- and be so happy with how they look. It look me a bit of practice and a lot of patience initially (and keeping a spare tube of Duo glue in your back pocket for when they decide to escape off your face.) I really recommend trying the "half lash" technique first!

I have had small patches of alopecia very infrequently since I was young and since this Labor Day I have now lost all my hair, eyelashes, eyebrows, arm/leg hair, nostril hair, you name it. So happy to have found your tutorial as losing my eyelashes has been surprisingly the most diffucult for me! I can't wait to watch your other videos for other gorgeous looks.

So wonderful! I pulled off most of my lashes trying to learn applying the lashes. I used too much glue. I glued my own lashes in between the strips, etc etc. I made many mistakes! That's how I came across your helpful video along with you as a beautiful woman, seems from the inside out. Thank you! As I age, I want to age as naturally as the process is, like letting my hair show its gray. But since I started playing with the lashes, I got hooked! They gave me a *natural* lift to my eyes! I have droopy eyelids. So, they add to me feeling youthful and awake. I enjoy wearing them. 😍 Thank you for being here with your helpful videos and sweet personality. I used to work at a boutique for women with cancer. While there I became a "wig stylist". Thank goodness I still know the tips I learned and would love to share them if it would be helpful. Blessings!

Hi Karnie! (hope that's how you spell your name) your video was brilliant! so clear, so detailed, and not rushed-I had an eye operation, for medical reasons, and lost lashes, which never grew back, so have always felt self-conscious about this. I have really struggled with eye make up, false lashes, etc, and felt despondent
about ever getting it right. You've given me inspiration to try again! Thank you SO much! I'm sure you have been told before, but you are absolutely stunningly beautiful! love sue xxx

This was a great video! I will try these again using your suggestions. But my concern is how you remove the glue from your own eyelashes without damaging your own natural eyelashes. I haven't found a product that addresses this. This is the reason why I don't use any false eyelashes. What do you do or what do you use to remove the glue? Thank you.

I wish I'd found this tutorial a few days ago. I only have maybe 5 lashes on each eye after losing most of mine from an allergic reaction to mascara when I was a teenager and they just never came back. I had just been wearing winged eyeliner that gave the illusion of having lashes for upward of 20 years, and put on my first set of falsies a couple days ago basically just making it up as I went. Will definitely be using your tips in the future to make it easier!
