This fight is complete bullshit for 3 reasons. 1. You have to use these horribly built party members who can't do shit. 2. You loose all of your equipment from Awakening on your party members including my heartwood bow and kal'hirol defense armor. 3. You might as well just get fucked if you aren't a mage. For some reason they don't give you any. Petrify and paralyze would have been a godsend here. This would have been an awesome, challenging fight with your completely leveled up party from Origins or Awakening. Instead it's an unbalanced, frustrating and cheap mess of a fight.
The boss itself is easy (Harvester isn't that strong, and his defense is actually quite low. He has tons of HP though). The scenario of the fight, however, is beyond broken because of the amount of semi-OP skeletons it spawns. I just beat it after 10 tries with my Level 34 Human Noble Rouge Archer equipped with Far Song from Origins. What you need is those tomes you can buy from Awakening and carry 'em over to Golems to rebuild those shitty party members you get (I made Jarrik an Archer). Now, depending on your class, there are different kind of strategies. The easiest one is the "Archer" one, where you taunt the Harvester and skeletons with the Bronto while your party members focus on killing the Harvester. Disable tactics from your Golem to make sure he doesn't attacks anyone, thus avoiding attention from enemies, and use him manually when your party needs healing (you'll need to pause from time to time to pull this off, obviously). *Before killing the first phase, make sure you are able to use the switch which kills all skeletons in the room* (this is IMPORTANT, because if you're successful, Phase 2 is literally a cakewalk). I heard that Spirit Warrior Archers have easier time with this boss fight than any other classes, including Rouge Archers. I can't confirm this because I never played as one, though. I also tried to play as a mage, but I always died after 10 seconds during the first phase.
Action rpgs are different from tsctital real time rpgs thought. In action rpgs if you learn the mechanics you can abused. In tac like Dao it's all in the stats and timing of skills. Luck too
This DLC had some of the hardest fights of the game, like those rooms filled with boss-level steel golems, arcane horrors and revenants. Several times my whole party died and only my arcane warrior-blood mage survived using potions. I defeated the harvester in nightmare like after 7 times, using a kiting strategy like this one
Biggest part of the difficulty was how useless was your party. Also, the oversight that unless you were playing Mage warden, you had limited crowd control. - Sometimes I felt like I have no allies at all and I am the only one doing anything there meanwhile one skeleton whiped out my entire rest of the party.
@@Dark_Voice so true! i was plaing two blades warrior, and couldn't beat this fight bc that party was just usless, and my warrior was intended to deal damage, so he got one shot easily. I didn't want to beat this boss like guy in video, so i just give up (on nightime of course, only on that level it was challenge). After that i played mage, and did this fight at first try. It's makes diffrence
I saw somewhere than Golems of Amgarrak was a short and easy DLC. Seriously, the Harvester is probably the hardest boss of the game (i mean, even Ser Cauthrien is way easier than him). There's just so many other ennemies with the Harvester at the end of the 1st part and during the 2nd part.
Perhaps the golem is defined as a monster mage , and monster classes as a whole can't use health/stamina poultices at all as far as i'm aware of. As for Jerrik, he only needs a respect with archery skills plus accuracy so Jerrik isn't taking so much damage. Plus dealing significant damage with auto attacks and talents. As for thy fight , I think thy way they programmed thy harvester battle the way they did as if your in abandoned dwarven city untouched by thy surface. So perhap for the longest time thy mages was never present here. And sense thy dwarfs aren't connected to thy fade, they're no capable of being a mage if you read thy lore. That's thy purpose of thy golems. Lyrium used in any golem can allow the dwarves to create their own supporters and healers, even a war machines capable of casting magic like abilities, sense dwarves cannot cast these magics themselves. Perhaps im wrong, but I'm certain to believe that's what the developers of thy dlc were aiming for this fight.
@@violetschnare3594 If we think about the narrative objective of the DLC, we already started badly from the beginning. First the commander guard did not have to be there for a "request for help from a dwarf expedition of a noble house", second in DaO it is made clear that the "golems" were something lost and very unusual but in this dlc the golems They become common creatures, having too much that ruins the whole plot of caradim causing that now there are golems everywhere, even in awekening it made sense that there were golems because you were just in a huge thaig of the blacksmith caste so if it charges some sense the fact that they had those creations. So a "wizard" would hardly damage that poor DLC's narrative.
The developers definition of difficulty is to endlessly spawn spooky rogue assassin skeletons with 5000 hp and 100 damage! Pretty much solo-ed it using virulent bombs and knockback spells running around in circles, how grindy! I thought "RIP non magic characters" before seeing this!!!
And here i thought it's impossible to beat harvester with new character on nightmare. Shit! I didn't know that one can use bronto in that way. This guy has my respect!
To all those people bragging about how easy this fight was with a duelist/shadow or arcane warrior/blood mage, try getting the grim reaper achievement with a two handed warrior.
Between The Harvester and Broodmothers, hard to decide on which is scarier and creepier. Both equally look like something out of survival-horror as opposed to fantasy.
(I ran circles around the harvester and its thralls for ten minutes and killed all of them with just an elemental chaos spell and about 20 lyrium potions for the grim reaper achievement.)
I underestimated the game too much after finishing it at Nightmare in all campaign and dlcs . Went on as unprepared as i could possiblely be. Spend 2 hours on trying to defeat it after i gave up and bust his ass without even trying in normal. Its so disgusting . fuck this boss.
it's not the harvester himself that tough but the boss rank corpses. they are almost impossible to hit at this level and dealing hell of a damage themselves. i made it to the second phase with my imported from the original game 25 lvl tank using poultices, poison and bombs (it took me like 20-30 minutes) but then three of them came over at once and that was it in about 10 seconds. they are ridiculously strong. i think it's not fair when boss can be beaten only by certain builds.
With a rogue this boss's is a breeze on nightmare, but damn with an elemental mage back in the days, couldn't pass higher than hard difficulty. Edit: nevermind, just wrecked him in less than 45 seconds on Nightmare with my new mage build. Theorycrafting at its best.
I had my level 35 Assasin, Duelist, and Shadow Rogue with somewhere around 85% chance to dodge. Did this on Nightmare, but it took me 2 tries to finish it. When you have that high % dodge and around 100 dexterity with buffs, all their regular attacks will miss and you just need to use poultices when they use abilities. It takes awhile, but it's really easy. Doesn't require anywhere near as much micro as this.
On Nighmare I ended up - from the start somehow - with 2 Snugs, from which one has no talents and often doesn't attack if he's not in close vicinity. Thus resulting in I do have Brogan, equipped him with the best stuff from Awakening, but could not respec nor control him, beside tactics. Now, this sticky situation, I found myself in, makes this hairy fight somewhat... problematic.
This is utter insanity for me, i played on normal because no hard related trophy in the main game then this boss comes and must be defeated on hard, i'm getting absolutely brutalized
I tried 10 or more times on hard, (35lvl backstab rogue), knowing the tactic (kite 1st form and slow/dps fast 2nd) and wasn't even close... switched to normal and killed him on 1st try... difference between normal and hard is HUGE in this fight.

Beaten both Dark Souls 1 and 2, but this boss is harder than any of the bosses I encountered in those games, lol
The only one boss in all DAO I couldn't defeat on nightmare :)

Golems of Amgarrak is Frigid Outskirts of Dragon Age

This would be Well Easy, if only the golem could use health poultices.
+Danny Pearce Or I could use my own party. This fight is seriously in need of 2 mages.
+Jani SIr too true
gives us two retarded dwarfs instead. which if they are to be useful , must be changed.

Comparing this to Veilguard... My god, where did it all go wrong???
11 years have passed and it is still relevant o)
I literally spent 5 hours trying to beat this boss, in just normal difficulty! Then I just gave up...
To all those people bragging about how easy this fight was with a duelist/shadow or arcane warrior/blood mage, try getting the grim reaper achievement with a two handed warrior.
Lol that would be hard
It's a shame in Dragon Age Inquisition the combat system is so poorly designed it will never have such epic battles such as this!
9 years later, and I agree.
Holy fucking shit! This boss is HARD!!!
Between The Harvester and Broodmothers, hard to decide on which is scarier and creepier. Both equally look like something out of survival-horror as opposed to fantasy.
This is a dark fantasy.
(I ran circles around the harvester and its thralls for ten minutes and killed all of them with just an elemental chaos spell and about 20 lyrium potions for the grim reaper achievement.)
This is actually the hardest boss i've seen in DA:O . Still undefeated in nightmare mode for me , even with my lvl 32 tank ( with 1150 pv )
Finally someone that plays this fight as a warrior or rogue. How exciting
Hanging from a cliff! Thats why he's called Cliffhanger!
Cliff: Excuse me! EXCUSE ME!
CAN'T. HOLD. ON. MUCH. LONGEEEERRR!
THANK YOU SWEET BABY JESUS FOR UNDENDING FLURRY
You got so lucky with the spawns.
Valeu a dica! Vou testar a estrategia ainda hoje!

what bothers me the most in the here now that ive seen the video is i failed to find group heal for golem. sucks.

Level 35 with 3 specializations vs his level 20 default with 2 specs. It should bd easier.
Not having a healer and the Golem not being able to use health poultices makes this battle so enraging lol
Final battle? My red switch dissapears for some reason, even if I don't use it.
Thanks for posting I enjoyed your video. Cheers.

Its too bad that in PS3 there is no way for me to control that bronto and keep him running all over.
This is utter insanity for me, i played on normal because no hard related trophy in the main game then this boss comes and must be defeated on hard, i'm getting absolutely brutalized
Ah yes. Try the game on nightmare. It's really not bad and quite fun.
Everytime when his half bar i lost, this the hardest boss in nightmare ever even in hard mode i'm having a hard TIME
I beat him with my support mage on hard. That was insane.
Sounds like it.
Who's MJvasNormandy?
really nice tactic. i tried 2x times with 4 melee at lvl 20 and still cant defeat him. always about 10% health of the boss left :(
12:10; you can see the blood from the dwarf inside the golem. :(
While watching that I was thinking "then why blood magic doesn't fucking work on golems!!!!!!"
do the dwarves inside golems look like the harvesters?
Honestly , the only reason Witch Hunt and Golems is brutal is because you get the worst companions ever
I decided to try this on nightmare, and it took me 2 hours to beat it..Uhh should've looked for tactics on youtube sooner.
i feel pitty for those who play it on nightmare
I beat this years ago on nightmare with a default level 20 mage. I wish I remembered how I did it.. Lol
You're a fucking genious
Idk why u dont show us your armor and weapons
iam very much sure u cant hit 100 all the time with the bow u find in this thaig
He used the default one given to him when creating a character.
Cliffhanger!
I tried 10 or more times on hard, (35lvl backstab rogue), knowing the tactic (kite 1st form and slow/dps fast 2nd) and wasn't even close... switched to normal and killed him on 1st try... difference between normal and hard is HUGE in this fight.
this fight was a piece of cake for my lvl 30 blood mage/arcane warrior.
I killed it after half an hour
I kill him too on nightmare but i was lvl 35 with my import character.
Seven tries to constitution. Dies before rpg sims
Bronto only existsfor kiting in this video
Archer
You can't control summons on console. It's bullshit.
That ending made no sense.
Stupid creators this is almost impossible to defeat as a rogue or warrior without finishing awakening....it should be fair for all classes or atleast give the golem a chance to drink poultices...
too much thinking...
this no nightmare
Jesus Christ loves you
