I'm from West Virginia and most recently lived in Morgantown. I miss it every day it's much simpler and everyone is a lot more pleasant! Loved growing up in the mountains such a beautiful place.

That is awesome. I did see someone else post about going to Helvetia for Fasnacht. They said the towns people are well aware of Fallout and they welcome Fallout fans, but they are concerned that their tradition of Fasnacht will become an "All Fallout Convention". Hopefully that won't happen, I would hate to see their small town tradition get overtaken by Fallout and lose the original meaning.
I don't think Fallout fans would let that happen. I had a great conversation in learning about their traditions and in the same avenue they asked more about Fallout. It was a lot of fun for sure and can't wait to go back. 🤘
Yeah I wouldn’t worry about that too much, anyone who takes the time to travel that far or take time out of their lives to attend an event like this knows the importance of respect and community
My take on this: Fasnacht Fallout masks? Cool. Cosplaying Fallout is a big no. That will ruin the festival and warp it into a FO convention. You gotta be respectful of the areas cultural norms.

@@CoreReaper1 yeaaah I did find it a bit odd that there were people dressed up in BoS stuff but maybe that’s just their way of repping some fallout merch while enjoying the festival .. you know, not intending to be related to the festival as it’s just what they chose to wear that day to let other fallout fans who are present know that they play the game too .. wasn’t there an NCR ranger or am I tripping? That definitely has no place there as much as I hate to sound like I’m gatekeeping
Nothing stops the community of Helvetia from announcing that they would like to keep all future faschnact events strictly to its intended purpose but I like to think the increased attendance brings the town some more money if it helps them in any way
I wanna get a pic next to that statue!! It would be fun to post it next to one of my character in camp next to the one in camp, like a side by side! I like that fallout incorporates real world stuff, that is so fun! Especially the cryptids, all of them are from the same time period in the same area! I love reading up on the ones I've never heard of!
You should def. do that bud and let me know when you do 🤘 I can't wait to go back up there. I really love how much they pulled from the lore and surrounding areas to put in the game. 🤘
WV is extremely underrated! Helvetia, Point Pleasant and the Trans Allegheny Insane Asylum (Fort Defiance) were the best!

Your definitely going to love Berkley Springs! When I was driving for Swift I had to drive through west Virginia and berkley Springs was part of the route I had to take for my delivery. I also drove past the Charleston Capitol Building while on the highway and it was very neat to see one of my favorite areas in 76 in real life.

Well that was in reference to talking in conversations with people and having folks full attention when talking to folks instead of them thinking about social media but I guess I didn't make that as clear as I thought I did. 🤘 The mask are def cool for sure.

I can hardly wait for next years video. There are two of you content creators who made the trip to West Virginia now, yourself and Rifle Gaming. But I'm hear to comment on you reading the names of all your sponsors, or more correctly the cadence you use. It suddenly hit me that it sounded like the song, "I've Been Everywhere" by Johnny Cash. If you do karaoke that song would be perfect. Not a lot of people can talk so fast yet make the pronunciations so clear. 👍👍
After going I watched Rifle's video and loved how it has grown and changed in some ways for efficiency. I was trying to keep myself from being spoiled on what to expect while there. If you can def. come by next year I think it will be a lot of fun and I am excited. I do love me some Johnny Cash and grew up listening to him and so many more folks. Looks like a very nice place in Helvetia. Ironically it does not look very cold at the event. Was it below freezing during the Fasnacht?
The weather was supposed to be rainy but it held off and wound up being around 50 or so this year. The previous year it was snowing and such around the event 🤘

I live in west virginia and will say they did a good job of recreating everything. I didnt realise fasnacht irl was last weekend. I really wanna visit the flatwoods monster museum. The mothman museum was really cool.

When I started to play FO76, right from start, I thought all elements were made up. Sure, I knew about the Mothman, but I didn't know it originated in West Virginia. Sure, Fasnacht is celebrated all over the western world, but I didn't know Helvetia was in West Virginia, nor that it had a strong Fasnacht tradition.
When I learned that some elements were taken from real life, I started to research them, I was also directed to a documentary series about West Virginia when the FO76 forums still existed. It's wonderful to explore all the many real life relations and being there is surely the best.
Now, it's surely really interesting the other way around, too. Living in West Virginia, also knowing the place and its history (and supposed future) well, then starting to play FO76.
I bet it is crazy to live there and then go and play 76. It was so nice to be there and everyone was so welcoming. I can't wait for next year 🤘

It was a great time for sure. Well I can understand why they do it. I have been nuked twice while being afk but no worries I just jump servers and don't let it faze me. 🤘

Bit too far and expensive sadly in current times, but so awesome to see that the Fasnacht thing was actually real and going strong in WV! I thought it was only in Sweden that this was celebrated as it originated there apparently but very cool to see it's elsewhere and dam I would love to visit this locations that we have in game but in real life. :D
It is amazing that they carried the tradition over to the US and it was so much fun learning about the culture and being able to talk with Fallout fans. It def. would be a little expensive for sure for yall to come across the pond but maybe one day we can have you over at the event.
Maybe one day. Til then I will live vicariously through those that do.
