yes awesome im glad to see someone still remembers Blue Thunder
I remember it. Remember the whole, "which one is better? Blue Thunder or Airwolf?" controversy? 😉
Salute from Germany
One of my fav movies
I love Blue Thunder" I remember watching this as a child with my father an my brother's one of ours favorite' I will always missed the most legendary actors like Roy Scheider✊🏿
I was 16-years old in 1983 when my mom took me and a good friend to see "Blue Thunder." Blew my mind! Awesome movie!
Seeing her with the sun rising...Best Scene!
Paying homage to apocalypse now
The 80s and early 90s were absolutely in love with machines and technology. So many vehicles as star in tv shows and movies. Knight Rider, Blue Thunder, Viper, Street Hawk...
Airwolf...
Such an underrated movie. From a time when action films has a grown up tone.
Part of me hopes that Top Gun: Maverick's success leads to a resurgence in this genre, as much as I like Marvel movies.
Grown up tone, but ridiculous concepts... The stealth mode still makes me chuckle. Loved it as a kid, though.
@@khymaaren YES! Why not stay in 'Whisper Mode' ALL THE TIME!
I luv the conversation that was cut from this scene.
-Icelan: Now look there. All the red dummies were blown to hell.
-Murphy: Yeah and a few white ones too!
-Fletcher: That’s one civilian dead for every ten terrorists. That's an acceptable ratio.
-Murphy: Unless you're one of the civilians.
And then Murphy goes on to endanger thousands later on by having dogfights right in the middle of a busy city. Very inconsistent writing.
@@davidtatro7457I read that Scheider wasn’t real happy that they had his character do that towards the end of the film. But I guess if I were to try to defend the character, Murphy was not only trying to stay alive and expose Cochrane and his buddies corruption but he also always gave the civilians time to evacuate the area before the F-16’s missiles hit. Although not very much time. Haha.
Thanks, I was wondering if I had imagined that bit...
This blew my mind when i was a kid
First saw this as a 9 year old. This scene was the best to play so loud. Still send chills down my spine.
I love how it comes in for the second pass firing a vulcan cannon with a crowd of generals and dignitaries pretty much down range of a thousand bullet ricochets.
It was the 80s. Perfectly acceptable.
My Favourite Movie of all time.
I agree with you, it's one of my favourite movies of all time & I rate it 10 out of 10.
Even after soooo many years, I have never forgotten "Blue Thunder". And let's not forget that it was the AH-64 Apache that inspired the Blue Thunder helicopter that we see here (except for Whisper Mode and Surveillance Mikes).
yes sir indeed i just love the sound of those blades
dont forget the built-in voyeur-mode, whispermode, video zoom, thermo camera, and mic´s that might record mice talking 5m below the surface
The Apache factoid isn’t exactly true but they had strikingly similar designs rather coincidentally within the same time frame.
Maybe those who designed the Apache were technical advisors for the production 🤷🏻♂️
I think it was actually inspired by French Gazelle
@@piotrdruidowicz5199 you are right it is in fact a custom body gazelle i believe
I loved it as kid still do
"One he'll of a shitstorm in anyone's language!" You can say THAT again!
2:22 the way he snickers at the white silhouettes getting killed
Lol. A couple of those shooting passes had the bleachers in the line of fire.
Loved Blue Thunder! This was such a kick ass scene.
Widziałem super filmik👍😎
The best Film all over..
i like how the ForwardLookingInfraRed (FLIR) pod is vibrating and bouncing all over.. like they forgot to GLUE it down, lol
Pretty accurate simulation of how that scenario would play out with the targeting system and Vulcan cannon. Even after the pilot takes his thumb off the piper, the barrel is still spinning and about 20 more rounds go off most likely hitting civies-hostages as well. This movie has aged well and is relevant today. Some neocon a-hole probably wants to implement THOR and attack helos for COVID related urban pacification.
I wouldn’t doubt that for a minute 😂
Truer then you THINK!!!
Some democrat/rino republican.
Possibly why the AH-64 fires a single barrel 30-mm cannon.
You play too many video games
I liked the fact how this movie was made" Especially noticed? with the main cast actor like Roy Scheider' and the Blue Thunder' helicopter had its own theme music 🎶
Malcolm McDowell always played villians that we loved to hate, like F.E.(Fuck Everybody) Cochrane.
The Blue Man Group arch rival.
2:43
We need this in Los Angeles now
If it was spying on you, you'd probably think differently.
You never had it. It's a fantasy.
So does Seattle and Portland Oregon and San Francisco and Oakland Ca
You left out the Best part of this scene."Someone hung a nickname on it.............BLUE THUNDER!"
Outstanding! This is were my love for birds came from. Blie Thunder and then Airwolf. I also had the toy. It was so huge and awesome
There was an extensive article published about the helicopter when the movie came out. It was a modified Aerospatiale. The removal of the factory nose and addition of the Blue Thunder pieces gave the helicopter a balance of 70% forward, 30% back. Which meant, in order to hover, the pilot was actually holding in the controls in the reverse flight position. The stunt pilots struggled to keep the nose up enough to not crash. They could only fly for 15 minutes before needing a break while another pilot took over. Compare that to the Bell 222 Executive helicopter that was used for Airwolf. It's balance was not altered so it flew normally.
The Airwolf pilots even commented that it flew better because of the modifications
Now That's One Of The Most Dangerous Flying Machines I've Ever Seen In The 80's because I remember watching the full movie back on DVD nearly 20 years ago plus I've watched the original TV series as a young boy back in 84' because this was one of the first choppers ever used to patrol the skies for a Police Department .
Still my favorite high tech copter of all time
:Not sorry. I pick Blue Thunder over AirWolf.
The AS341/342 Gazelle had a 20mm canon but not American Gatling but a monotube 20mm GIAT industries
Airwolf could never exist. Show me a way a rotorcraft can get to Mach 1. I'm sure the military would buy it. 316 MPH is the fastest a Bell 533 with short wings and jet engines. Same speed that was achieved in a V-22 Osprey. A Lockheed AH-56 could only get 244 mph.
I WAS THERE, GANDALF, 3000 YEARS AGO, WATCHING ON TV...
During the city battle...
There is a shot from the tail downward onto the main rotor head...
You can see the pilot changing the pitch angles as the rotor head is turning...
Something no one usually sees at all...
SEGA's Thunder Blade flew me here!
🇮🇹FILM EPICO! CON ATTORI PERFORMANTI E BRAVI ! BLUE THUNDER UN FILM CHE HA FATTO STORIA DEL CINEMA!👍👍👍(NON SERVE UN REMAKE!)
With that part, the storm on Congress would have been over in a minute💪
Grandstands were a bit close.
Totally. I LOVE this movie. But having the grandstand at the END of the demonstration area seems seriously not-smart. And Cochrane nearly blasts them at the end.
Not for 1980's Health & Safety standards :) No wokey crybabies looking for claims in those days
@@joshprice6511 got his with a 20mm HE fragmentation shell? take a salt tablet
It was a movie. In real life a demonstration like this would not be using live fire that close to grandstands of people.
That is still a great movie.
That would solve the Portland / Seattle rioting problem.
How? By causing mass civilian casualties and making the problem even worse?
You are aware that the film involves the hero (a cop and Vietnam vet) discovering a plot to use Blue Thunder for extreme civilian enforcement, and that the plotters murder both a public official and the hero's partner to cover things up, right? This is why his conscience drives him to break the law, steal the copter, fight against his fellow police and the military, and ultimately destroy the thing.
Amen pal
I live in seattle. I thought the same thing
I wish they had Blue Thunder here in Seattle Washington Area The Riots would be over In minutes
love how they used the apache design on this beauty
*_"Dammit, bloody gun...!!"_*
Awesome chopper. By Aréospatiale.
Super Thunder Blade Sega
One of the hardest games I ever played growing up!!
I definitely agree me too
Yep they used this design
Aren't the observers sitting directly in the line of fire on the second pass??
🇫🇷 Gazelle in action (loaded up with fake props that look cool). Over 10 years ago, France dispatched military Gazelles to the Ivory Coast (former French colony in Africa) to quell violence and rioting which were putting French nationals at risk near the capital Abidjan. One such Aérospatiale Gazelle was armed with 20mm guns and let loose a few rounds into the mob. Everyone dispersed and that was the end of that nonsense. Cleaning crews later picked up the remains.
*That's the 7.62mm mini gun, the 20mm Vulcan is much larger.*
Still, the 7.62mm is devastating to light skinned vehicles & infantry.
Got to love how the Gatling gun which is supposedly firing standard bullets is making things violently explode like they are grenades instead 😄
What makes a cannon (rotating or auto) a cannon?
Who can tell me the name of the actor at 1:24 on the left next to Roy Sheider?
Paul roeibiling /devid scheiner
"Because fuck hostages, that's why."
Good film.
This film inspired airwolf.
Its a Gazzele sa342..haha..looks great.
If they had waited a few years they gotten an Apache to use for Blue Thunder.
The drug cartels better hide
Vulcan cannon go BRRRRRRRRRRT
Do you know helicopters have three weaknesses but the easiest weakness is tail rotor second would be the engine and third but not least would be the main rotor hit any one of those three and a helicopter is guaranteed to go down like a brick
Show
this could easily be the prequel to Ghost in the Shell.
*40 YEARS AGO..... WHO'S STILL WATCHING??????*
I have it on DVD...
Are you trying to infer something...???
Lol, a police helicopter with a 20 mm Gatling gun. So much for protecting the innocent.
The best movie since WarGames IMO
カッコいーい
This was before airwolf
That 1983 movie cheese....we saw that gun, we saw the built in HUD...then Murphy fighting the F-16s while the movie was still trying to shove done our throats some propaganda about the government not having total control bla bal bal...we just shit our pants.
There's something about this specific old movie that has all the old guys with children that don't talk to them spewing dumb shit in the comments section
"DAMMIT, BLODDY GUN!"
That’s when COL. Cochrane knew he had a *serious* problem during the demonstration.
It looks like a custom cockpit on a French Gazelle.
They dont make these movies anymore...
just a little bit of collateral damage. im sure the parents dont mind their children were sacrificed.
I think I flew one of those in Battlefield 2.
👍 🚔 🚁 🎥!!!!!!!
looks like the apache prototype
So the cannon had smart bullets LMAO ?
Look more beast than AirWolf, but no missile launcher under the wings... Can be the copter version of britain fighter A10Thunderbolt "warthog": "Bbbbrrrrrrrrrtttttt"
I prefer blue thunder over airwolf for 3 reasons.. she looks nastier rather than airwolf which looks civilian thunder looks like a military helicopter.. I like her machine gun better yes I know no rockets or missiles but the 6 20mm cannons fire more rounds per minute. Finally thunders track and fire turret system with the heads up display built into the helmet visor.. yes airwolf has similar but thunders looks cooler
While Blue Thunder was extremely cool, Airwolf completely surpasses it. Better looking, meaner, and much more powerful.
The character machines, yeah maybe, maybe not but the helicopters that they're built around, the blue thunder helicopter SA341 Gazelle is quite a bit faster and significantly more maneuverable than the Airwolf Bell 222 , the gazelle in real life performing the loop and other aerobatics and different times although the 222 is more powerful has tons more interior space and can carry quite a bit more payload, and whilst after their starring roles were completed, the Airwolf 222 did go on to a new life of an air ambulance in Germany, tragically crashing in bad weather, taking the lives of all on board back in 1992 , the blue thunder gazelles were stripped of useful parts and scrapped, not a very fitting end to such an iconic machine
Took out those kid targets...oh well.
The fact that they made this from a model and still shot this film. Also white people are good at engineering.
Ese Helicoptero necesita Carabineros de Chile para que ataquen desde el aire
Какая пропаганда америкики просто смешно сегодня смотреть)))
Great police movie 🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵
Airwolf was to Blue Thunder what Transformers was to GoBots.
I remember Warren Oates asking them, just before they sat down in the bleachers, "what do they call that thing, an airbuster"? To which one of the men explains to him the nickname that someone gave to the helicopter, we know what that was .😜
... Airwolf.
エアーウルフが全盛期だったので
反発してブルーサンダー派でした
(*´▽`*)
今はエアーウルフ大好きだけど
Good thing Donald Moffat wasnt the test pilot
Don't worry, we got some guy with weird name to retrieve the lady from the kidnapers
Do you even French helicopter?
Fuze must've been piloting it. Screw civilian casualties.
LoL, you mean Fuzz?
The pilot was LT COL. Cochrane a Vietnam War veteran like Murphy and unsurprisingly the bad guy in the film as he was a scumbag.

Nice though not to spoil peoples childhood movie but you can see the camera crew in another helicopter breifly at 0.52 :D
good but cut to much !!
Funny that even today Ah64 is not even close to being pinpoint accurate with their guns. ruclips.net/video/yotbnhfRgMY/видео.html
Spent 15 months in Afghanistan US army reserves. While slow or fast air was always welcome, just seemed a waste to use a hellfire on a single dude with an ak but whenever Apaches fired their 30mm chain guns the rounds went all over the place and they would run out of ammo in no time. Just shows the Apache was made to fight tanks not this insurgent bs.
Pa'ngang AH,not missile for attack blue thunder is TERQUTUK'of' AH👎
At last a cure for antifa
Add Napalm Grenade Launcher.
Air airwolf will be back in 2028 for la Olympic games
Eh, I know an even better looking secret helicopter than this :P
It looks like a piece of junk. I particularly like those engine cowling things that obviously do nothing.
That's Whisper system or whatever they called it.
My God, that IS one hell of a shit storm, but I think Airwolf is better.
I saw another helicopter's skid in this scene😅😅😅😅
Вот так они и воюют в Голливудских киностудиях, а на Луну слетать одно удовольствие . вертолет из плексигласа а чё боятся огневого противодействия то нет!👎💩😈🇺🇸🐏
На Мосфильме ещё смешнее воюют.
OK, do you wanna take a sit and she comes, she is no normal, she no fly normal, and she hit normal, this all ship is very armed, there's no others armed...............
