"how do you know when you're ready for Anmrit:" when you cant live without it, when living without it is like dying at every moment and a challenge to your very sanity. "Ram Bi-ogi na ji-ai, ji-ai ta ba-ura ho-e." (without the Nam/Guru i cant live, and if by chance I do live, it is at the expense of my sanity). this is when you know you 'need' Anmrit, not just 'want' it. some of it is about wanting Anmrit, but most of it is about 'needing' Anmrit to function. it's that 'pias' Guru Sahib talks about at the end of Rehraas Sahib, "jin koe lagi pias Anmrit sai khae, kal mai eho pun gun Govind gae-e."
ive recently started doing path, & like your rightly pointed. i still lack the "need", ive decided to give this year to learning gurmukhi, coupled with all the basic paths & meanings.. i want to get more into sikhism and follow guru's advice. hopefully after a year I'll have that "pias", I dont really know how to go about it. i do "want" to follow guru, but "needing naam for my sustenance" is what im lost at. thanks for this eye opener comment :)
WJKK WJKF i just wanted to say when we take amrit we should feel truely ready to give our head to our guru, and be ready to protect and serve everyone......also we should take amrit out of love and because of doing path...nowadays from what i see people take it out of hate for what has happened in the past to the Sikh community.
My parents are sikh but they delay me wherever I talk about taking amrit he tells me that u are not ready and my mother she thinks amrithari are pendu but I totally cleared her perspective butt still need help
Deshmesh Centre in the northeast of Calgary. Our city now has a Sikh mayor, though you’d never know it given Gondek’s short hair with blonde streaks, and the fact she doesn’t live by the five K’s.
I was not born into a Sikh Family but am convinced to Sikhi. However I am not in a position to take Amrit and follow five K's for now because of my family. However I can go for Amrit after two years. So what should I do?
Sir in my family everybody is against me taking amrit they say I won't get to dressup and stuffs but I am ready contribute myself to guru sahib ji what should I do pls suggest something should I take hukumnama
Hello, im 11 and ive been an sadar now for an year, i really want to get amrit sach but my mom says im a bit to young yet as i cant read gurbani, i dont know any path, i just say wahegure for 1 min and listen to path on youtube, and my kesh goes at the back and not the front since its not long enough, what do you think?
1) Try doing paath every day without fail, even if you don't know how to recite paath, at least listen to it and meditate on it 2) Try waking up for amritvela (early morning prayers) & doing it 3) Don't listen to anyone views or opinions, Sikhi is open for anyone & any age. Taking Amrit is open for all and doesn't matter whether ur young or not and also what is the worse could happen after taking amrit? Nothing at all 4) Do sewa in the Gurdwara as much as you can 5) Learn Gatka (Martial arts) as it will help you alot in life and also for self defense 6) Try to improve ur Punjabi learning to the best it can so that it will be easier for you to recite the paath Hope this helps and go ahead with taking amrit, Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj has full support towards you 🙏 Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh ❤🪯⚔️
