Very much appreciate the wisdom of including African folk in the music and video, It is hard to not see race in such a racialized world, It's easy to allow one's frustrations with history be projected in an unfair hypersensitivity to seeing folks of European decent embracing, celebrating, perpetuating and utilizing the beautiful and sacred traditions of the indiginous peoples of the world, especially because so many people of color are resistant/ignorant to the magic within their own cultures... But, part of my journey as a soul in the body of a Black Man in this world, with all that comes with that, has been to learn that we ARE ALL INDIGENOUS, because the original and only true, not man-made and socially constructed heritage, is to earth, a special place in Mama Africa if we want to get geographically specific. So I say bless you sisters and all of your beautiful and wonderful community, and thank you for using your wonderful voices, hearts and creative minds to spread the beauty of the healing, ecologically sustainable roots cultures of humanity. Many of my friends of color, people with beautiful hearts and souls and still some scars like we all have, would see the bhindis and the dreadlocks and immediately write off, and their arguments would be valid in many respects as all arguments can potentially be, but I am tired of arguments and tired of spending my energy debating what's wrong and what I see and hear feels right, it feels natural, it feels like I want to be there singing and dancing with you and no I'm not Indian, I'm not Native American I'm not Pacific Islander, I'm not Jamaican and my people (from Sudan) didn't wear dreads but damnit dread my hair, give me a Bindi, Tat me up and bless my by the cayote eagle bear and wolf because I, You, We are all culture all heritages all all all we are all all all I you we me can be free together holistically... ... chi, flowing through my heart as I write this words up out of crown and into yours bless you bless you bless you.
