- In this video we're wrapping up an incredible trip fishing and exploring our way through the White Mountains in eastern Arizona. It's time to sort out dinner, so we're taking to the river in search of big rainbow trout. Along the way, I make a surprise catch of one of the rarest trout species on Earth: the Apache trout. Then, back at the RV, we're showing you an easy and delicious way to cook trout.

Since filming this episode, and due to heroic efforts by the Arizona Game & Fish Department and its various partners, the Apache trout has been removed from the endangered species list.

I'm a saltwater guy at heart, but nothing screams "wilderness camping" to me like fresh trout cooked over a fire. Tons of backpacking trips involved me packing some foil, a small pan, spices, a bit of oil, and an ultralight spinning setup! Best meal you can ask for on a chilly mountain morning.
Couldn’t agree more!
I love rainbow trout! We went to a rainbow trout farm north of Sedona when my son was 5 and he wanted to go fishing. We caught a few in the pond, and it has been my favorite fish. It doesn't taste like fish at all.
One piece of advice is you can easily debone the whole trout after it's cooked, just grab by the tail and use a fork to slowly tease away the filet the turn over and repeat on the other side, you'll have a perfect fish skeleton and two beautiful boneless pieces with the skin on, all those big rib bones just pull right out, thanks for a cool video highlighting my beautiful home state!
Great tips, thanks Danny!
So rad. White Mountains in AZ are on the list of places to fly fish for me. Thanks for making the video. 🤙🏼
Great job on the cook and the plating! When you add a bunch of stuff into a butter like that it's called a compound butter. In your case, I'd call it "lemon herb garlic compound butter". A trick to eating whole fish like that is actually to use a spoon to separate the meat from the bones. You start by poking down on the centerline and separate the upper and lower loin then kinda push each one away from the center line.
Awesome!! You could still pour the butter from the pan, all over the rice!!
MAN that fish looked delicious! And what a fun fight those trout were in that crazy current. Awesome series!!
Another solid episode!
Nice video. Welcome to the White mountains from the Whiteriver area
321 surely I'm not watching this alone?
Hey John!
Hey Robert, if your ever back in Ks we'd love to have you. We cook fairly well and we can hook up the RV here, also we had a 100 acre farm at Cheney lake with cattle, wheat crop, and a boat lol. Well we feel like we know you already. We do unless you're an actor haha. Watch you catch fish, I like when you get your line screaming off and you laugh and giggle, it's addictive and adrenaline is fun. You're a great guy! Bring your girl or a friend. No matter, and we won't keep ya cause know you're busy. Any we're trying to transplant, ex-plant, to Panama. Los Bozos if possibly or somewhere close w/elevation.
Another great fishing adventure
Such a great video!! Arizona is gorgeous! ❤️
Thank you for your videos love them please keep them coming
Like number 253. Awesome vidio. But that 1 trout is not enough meat for 2 grown men. Awesome you kept another trout. Now you have a meal👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Perfect wrap on a great series. Must have been difficult to edit. Thanks for the hard work and extra effort bro. I appreciate the message “ just because you could keep it doesn’t mean you should keep it “ harvest all you will eat, return the rest. I grew up in Arizona and know each stop you made. Living the Ozark life now.
Good luck in Taos plenty of trout there. Hit up the Anaconda Bar at the cool eco hotel.
Safe travels Rob.
Over
Those "carp" were probably actually a native sucker species, like the razorback or Flannel mouth. Might be carp in there too but suckers are all through the system.
Nice Job! Very Impressive.
Great job guys!! We're all living the dream through you two! Peace and Safe Travels.
Dang! Just missed the premiere! Looking forward to this!
I always keep my limit. They are awsome smoked 👍🏻😂

Hi Hibbert, glad I'm not alone😂
You make videos that are unique experiences and you present it so well, like having a giant corporate editing team. Just f*ing beautiful.
Roberto yeeeeew saludos amigo el mismo desde ct
Let's go❤
Should have fished the mogollon Rim lakes. I usually bake them and do Tacos. 20"ers aren't rare... and Tiger trout... have had 60+ fish days. 🎉
Bald Eagles and Osprey diving for fish all day.
Great videos.
Is there any update on the nomad
salt pepper lemon green onion cilantro butter wrapped in foil
Garlic on fish 😯😯never.
While I like the Panama /international content I think I like the 50 states vids more
What the hell is it with every catch clean and cook that they always use lemon or lime or both. Can't anyone cook fish, lobster, squid with out using lemon or limes!!!???😢
Score your trout every quarter inch and the bones will fry up. And why are you eating your friends big trout and giving him your little trout 🤔
