For some witnesses the executions are difficult to watch and hear. For some family members of the victims of capital crimes there is occasionally less than “closure,” but more of additional trauma. To my knowledge no follow up study has been conducted (optional only!) if the feelings and thoughts of the family members of the victims following the execution of the women and men who have taken the lives of murderers. It is additionally to be noted that the correctional systems provide mental health support to those personnel who , though voluntarily, participated in causing the death of a human being. It would be very tough work to do for those who have the heart to see a person on that gurney. Some commenters here will see themselves as both capable and very willing to kill another person. You are more rare than you may believe…
