Hi andy Currently building 2 ESS batteries with the PB2A16S20P JK BMS, this week I had everything ready and tried hooking up my 2 BMS to my Cerbo GX so I made a Type A CAN cable and connected it to the CAN port of the first BMS which is set to adress 0 then used the blue network cable to connect the second BMS with adress 1 to the first using the ports on the right. So i bought an USB-RS485 converter to be able to upgrade both BMS to 15.24 firmware started with the slave BMS which was already set to adress 1 and connected it to the BMS monitor software uploaded the firmware and everything worked fine. Then connected the master BMS which I set to adress one also and connected to RS485 connector to the ports on the right. first communication seemed to be working and I tried to upload the newest firmware. But it kept keeping stuck at 0% after that the communication seems to be lost. So I rebooted the BMS and it seemed to start working again but the RED LED is blinking. So i tried via the software to change some settings and that seemed to work most of the time occasionally I got timeout error's. But firmware update still not working. Hi Anddy, congratulations on what you do. to update which serial adapter you use. I have 2 BMS blocked to failed update. This BMS JK is a disappointment. Thank you
Hi Andy, fantastic video as always, would it be possible for you to use your powers of persuasion to get some information on the PACE BMS, my batterie / BMS needs calibration. You have touched on this BMS in the passed and there are a number of batteries on sale in south africa that use one of the PACE BMS models. I have the PBmsTools software and it does have a calibration screen, the problem is I only think I know how to carry out the calibration but i don't know for sure. Any assistance would be great.
i have the 200A version and it keeps tripping when larger motors start (vacuum or a/c). They draw 50A only each and Discharge OCP Delay (S) is set to 600 (in case it's actually mS) to avoid tripping with inrush current. Super annoying.
It's just a time based generator: the code is based on the current time stamp. The application computes the code and see if it matches within a range of an hour or so. Meaning that if you can set the clock on you computer to the same time Andy has, the same code should work.
Oh wise and knowledgeable JK BMS expert,i have purchased my first jk BMS and I see Ballance plug one has for a start 2 black wires that look to go to the sensor and the very next wire I would assume goes to the negative most battery terminal, however I would expect that it should be a black wire,my one is red,is your one here the same? As mine is exactly this model
I have heard from other that JK is sometimes using just red cables without any black one. I never heard about two black ones though. I would just connected them as usually, first one is bat-, next one is bat1+, next one is bat2+,... The BMS should also come with a manual and some diagrams on how to connect the BMS. Follow that recommendation.
@Andy can we upgrade the BMS on JK-PB2A24S15P , its on version 11 and the RS458 sends and receives data but cannot connect to the Monitor like i see on yours Andy
Does JK BMS have a real time clock? Probably the PC is checking the time in the code. Maybe it would be possible to set the time on the PC back to when the code was valid. Probably also need to make sure PC is not connected to internet to prevent it from getting correct time.

Hello, I want to ask you a question I bought two 100A lithium batteries, two years ago one has just stopped working it charges up very quickly and then discharges very quickly so I have just taken it apart. it looks very good quality inside there is no BMS is this normal I’ve never seen this before I could send you a picture if this is not normal so I’m also wondering about the other one. Is it safe to use it. I’ve looked at battery tear down on RUclips and everyone seems to have a BMS. Is it normal for a battery not to have one? Thank you to anybody that answers.
If you are talking about the normal 12V LiFePO4 batteries, they have to have a BMS. There are 4 cells inside the box and there MUST be a BMS as well. If not, you can be lucky that none of the cells has gassed yet. Most likely, one or more of the cells is now damaged and hence the voltage drops quickly.
Andy, I wonder if this code, part of the authentication process embedded 'solely' within the update software. If I reverse engineer the jk updater would I be able to bypass this process. Has anyone else tried?
I have PB2A16S20P HW v15.XA SW v15.05, not working update to 15.10. I tried the standard update, it doesn't start and after about 60 seconds the BMS restarts. When I want to do a force update, it's the same. Support is terrible. It looks like the BMS bootloader didn't go into update mode.
I don't understand why the JK code would only work for an hour. The bricked BMS does not know what time it is and how much time has passed since the code was generated. It even doesnt know which time zone in the world it is in. I would imagine that if you disconnect the PC you are using for the update from the internet then the code could be used indefnitively.
The BMS does not know, no. But the software on the PC has got the time from the computer. And yes, you are right, some here have already done that and set the time back and it seemed to have worked.
Hi Andy, can you tell me were I can get the RS485 to USB adapter? There's quite a few out there and some people seem to have issues with certain model...
The only, I could get work on my Dell laptop was "waveshare industrial USB to RS485 converter with original FT232RL". Tested honestly like 4 models and this was the only one I could get work. You need to sacrifice one RJ45 cable and connect 3 cables according to JK pin layout. Easy.
Good day all, I have two JK-PB1A16S10P BMS Firmware version 15.07. I tried to update one BMS to Firmware version 15.17. The procedure follow were as per Andy's video, the update only came as far as 4% and then nothing..I tried again and still nothing...I then tried the brick procedure then and still nothing. The BMS Monitor software is version 2.7.0 . The communication tab for sending and receiving do show activity for sending and receiving. The error message showed by the BMS Monitor software is "Process Error Response". Any ideas what could be the issue?
I have resolved this issue ,I bought a waveshare Industrial USB to RS485 Converter Bidirectional Adapter as per Andy's advice and tests. This device worked , mine (Hexin) did not.

Most of the Daly BMS sucks with balancing. In fact, they all do... With large capacity cells, you most likely need an active balancer as well to make it work. The tiny balancer in these BMS has no chance.

Connect the RS485 cable to computer and BMS and start the JK BMS software and do a force update with the BMS still off. 3. Hi Anddy, congratulations on what you do. to update which serial adapter you use. I have 2 BMS blocked to failed update. This BMS JK is a disappointment. Thank you
You can recover them with this method. Give it a try, it will work.
Thanks Mike. I have never done a calibration on a Pace BMS myself.
Is voltage and current off from what the BMS shows and what you can measure?
WE NEED 64S 30A active BMS. Someone have ideas?
Thanks again! You saved my battery:)
but, the bluetooth connection doesn't work anymore, no connection, no bluetooth broadcast from JK BMS, any idea ? thanks Andy.
just asked to jk support, we will see the response
Thanks Andy
Thank you, Wayne!
Thanks for deleting the "F" I was worried about this after the BMS was working 😉
Hahaha, it's all working again!
bundle of thanks...
This reminds me of the Star Trek "the changeling" episode memory alpha.
Hahaha, great!😄
BOOOOOM💥💥💥💥
Best 👕 ever!
Hi Andy how are you if you buy the jk Bms must be easy to install for everyone
Tell me, thank you, why the red error light is on, I collected the battery and I don’t see any errors
i have the 200A version and it keeps tripping when larger motors start (vacuum or a/c). They draw 50A only each and Discharge OCP Delay (S) is set to 600 (in case it's actually mS) to avoid tripping with inrush current. Super annoying.
I haven't had a vacuum without soft start and motor control since the 70s tbh. Even my shop vac is spinning up to avoid surges.
So how does this timer work, does JK corporate have access to our BMS in real time?
who knows?
Any Chinese device with a chip has.
It's just a time based generator: the code is based on the current time stamp. The application computes the code and see if it matches within a range of an hour or so. Meaning that if you can set the clock on you computer to the same time Andy has, the same code should work.
They can't access your BMS remotely. How would that work??? It has only BT connection without internet.
One quick question not related to the video😊 Any chance to have a video on the new EVE 280K? Lots of nice features on paper
I thought only the terminals are different but chemistry is still the same? I'll have a look!

No real time clock, no... The software gets the time from the PC though.
Heya, oh wouw 2 weeks old vlog damn I mist this 1 good we can watch it later and learn some more thanks for that info, why, my jk BMS is sent and will be at my adress around 17 febr. well hope I dont need it but this is just the 1st BMS so you'll never know
Hello, I want to ask you a question I bought two 100A lithium batteries, two years ago one has just stopped working it charges up very quickly and then discharges very quickly so I have just taken it apart. it looks very good quality inside there is no BMS is this normal I’ve never seen this before I could send you a picture if this is not normal so I’m also wondering about the other one.
Is this also possible with the old style of BMS ?
B2A20S20P
V11 is currently the firmware I have. Can I replace it with the V14 or V15 ?
No, firmware on the old style BMS can not be updated.
Haven't bricked one yet but I'll do my best.
It's not hard😉
Hi Andy, can you tell me were I can get the RS485 to USB adapter? There's quite a few out there and some people seem to have issues with certain model...
I believe it's linked to on Andy's website.
The only, I could get work on my Dell laptop was "waveshare industrial USB to RS485 converter with original FT232RL". Tested honestly like 4 models and this was the only one I could get work. You need to sacrifice one RJ45 cable and connect 3 cables according to JK pin layout. Easy.
I tested a few here and they all worked and are linked on my website: ruclips.net/video/I6qz5ZIKzTA/видео.html
I have 2 BMS JK blocked. Do you know if there is a different method to force the firmware? This method doesn't work for me. Thank you
There is no different method... What does not work for you? Have you requested a code form JK or did you use my code?
Hello, i have a big problem with my JK BMS PB2-16S-20P V15.5. the BMS doesnt start when i push the start switch. And actualy os not possible for me to make a forced upgrade firmware with JK procedure ! I have a '4" screen and all data is 0 !
Please help meeeeee :( :( :(
I have a regular JK-BMS JK_B2A24S15P. The firmware update is not possible for this model? Thank you for your help.
No, they cannot be upgraded, no...
@@OffGridGarageAustralia so bad, it would be so easy with the phone.
It seems like the WhatsApp barcode is gone from their site. Does anyone know of a more speedy way to reach them to get the code other than by email?
Nice they have an unbrick mode, maybe somebody can trace how this works to help the ones who need it more swiftly.
Already done, I think. You can just change the date and time of your PC to when I did the reset and use the code from the video.
Super, THX.
Thank you too!
Hallo Andi ! Mein Daly BMS 200A hat sie Funktion Balanced Charge. Was hältst du davon ? L.G. nach down under Klaus
Most of the Daly BMS sucks with balancing. In fact, they all do...
With large capacity cells, you most likely need an active balancer as well to make it work. The tiny balancer in these BMS has no chance.
Nice
Sorry, I have a different problem. On bms JK-PB2A16S20P-4.3LCD I have 1 error, SCP release failed. How to remove it?. In the menu I have SCP delay - 1500ms, SCPR delay - 6s. Everything works normally
Thank you
It's stupid as hell that you need an unlock code and it is time limited. Why do they need to make it that hard?
For all the customers that downloaded the wrong firmware, that want to force the update despite the warning it’s the wrong firmware and then blaming JK / asking for replacement or support.
Once the company goes tits up, those bricked cards are problem waste.
I guess, JK is here to stay. I can't see them failing and not selling BMS any more. Also, we now know how the code works...
You should get on the payroll of JK, maybe you should offer them to write readable manuals for them (payed of course)
Yeah, but who is making videos then... Andy2?😆
Would it be possible to downgrade firmware with such forcing method ?
Could be, but why would you? I cannot recall a previous firmware which was better of what we have right now.
What is "Bricked"?
Not responding any more. Happens when the update fails half way through.
Thanks man 👍!
Is $2015 USD a good deal for an EEL 304AH battery.
What are the other deals you can get? Compare...
Strange, how they or ur BMS know that in one hour. Must be a time stamp inside the update program. Or manipulate the time
I thought you were kidding about the giveaway 😅
Nooooo!😆
I updated the bms to version v15.23, after the update the display stopped working, everything else works, is it a software error? anyone else had this??
There is a v15.24 on Andy's website (found it on a forum). Check the change log. There is a LCD display problem with v15.23. I updated to v15.24 and the display is working again.
My jk won’t let me change my cell RVC even when I lower the 100% SOC it still doesn’t let me set the value to what I want. just says sending failure.
only lets me set to 3,550 or above
I want to set it to
RCV=3.450
100% soc=3.449
it simply won’t let me 🤷🏻♂️
This will be explained in the next video!
You are so good Andy!
I have a feeling that it’s maybe because it is connected to the inverter already, maybe I will try a reset and set parameters before I plug it in.
Andy please help me. JK customer service is horrible. I bought 2 cards JK-PB2A1620P. I made the update 15.05---->15.10 on a card no problem, but on the second impossible the progress bar does not advance even with the forced update, the led stops blinking until the beep 2 minutes after. JK doesn't understand or doesn't want to understand. I've sent videos on how to update but no response. That is, if someone sends me the update instructions. Has anyone had the problem or is the update not working?
Do it!
💙👊😎
👋🙋♂️
Has anyone been able to unlock their BMS updated from V15.05 to V15.10 with one of the codes posted here? The update supposedly went through cleanly for me, but the BMS password no longer works and I haven't received any response from JK so far... Neither by mail nor by Whatsapp.
You'd think the windows program would be able to generate the code for you, or at least retrieve it :)
Schneeeeschaufeln - LOL !
It's a reference to another video. Ther person got the message😊

Hi Andy,
I have PB1A16S15P Hardware version 15.XH, i have wrong force update firmware with PB2A16S15P v15.XH now all communication not working and the bms keeps beeping.
I have try to force update correct firmware but not working at all. did my bms totaly broken ?
I also had a "double bricked" PB2A16S15P (force update also failed). JK BMS support was not of much use. By trial and error, I got it working today. 1. Turn off the BMS - disconnect all power. 2. Connect the RS485 cable to computer and BMS and start the JK BMS software and do a force update with the BMS still off. 3. Connect power to the BMS (I used a power supply to B- and B+ without any batteries). 4. Press and HOLD the power switch. In my case, the BMS powered on and the force update completed - saving my BMS. I hope it works for you too.
