This alarm lock is GOOD ENOUGH.
If your locks are on the inside. Very useful and effective for gate locks.
Those that need your hand to be inserted inside just to insert the key. Our gate is like that. Our gate has a hole fitted only for one hand for keying the lock situated inside.
If Lockpicking Lawyer took a solid 2:30 minutes to unlock it WITH BOTH HANDS at full capability, angle and space to work with, then this lock is good. As for the 507 update, re-read the previous paragraph and it's just impossible.

    • @userPrehistoricman

I believe there is a little pin inside that triggers the alarm circuit. When he smashed the lock off, the pin was probably released and caused the lock to not go off. The sound could also be the lock whimpering, I don't know

    • @lockpickinglawyer

Thanks for saving me money. I thought it may have added "alarm function" to my chain lock or on a u-lock shackle. I was going to attach it to another chain link in my high security Kryptonite NY noose chain lock with the kryptonite evolution series 4 disc lock but the disc padlock would be the main lock. To be honest, it does add 2 more tools for the thief though to bash it with the hammer and pry bar. I think most thieves just use bolt cutters but I think that would definitely trigger the alarm though. I definitely wouldn't use it as a main lock though.

"How to disarm a lock with a loud alarm in it. Step 1: place a thick piece of metal on it. Step 2: hit the piece of metal with another piece of metal attached to a long stick (for leverage). This will make a loud non-alarm sound, followed by a number of other non-alarm sounds of the lock falling to the ground."
I appreciate the low quality of the lock, but it seems that it can still be strategically used in a place where an unexpected loud noise would alert someone. I.E., you don't put this on your shed while you're at work. You put this on a secure room with a security guard posted down the hallway at the building entrance.

I feel like sure, yeah, if you know about this specific lock and what it does you could definitely get around the alarm; but I also doubt the majority of people would know about this specific lock. Even if someone were to roughly handle it when investigating it, the warning beep it would inevitably ring out might be enough to scare off an unsuspecting robber/thief, and even if they spotted that it had an alarm system they may not feel confident in how to release the lock without setting it off and warning the neighbors. It's a good system to scare people off, which in my book makes it at least a decent lock, and certainly not "total garbage".

I think this is a good security alarm.
It all depends on where you mount this padlock. You are standing ( good position for you ) and this alarm is high enough to operate the hammer. And most importantly, the padlock rests on the door so it is already immobilized on its own so you can eazy put the crowbar on padlock.
Hang it low, in a less visible place, so that padlock has no hard support and can swing slightly, so that you also cannot hold by hand or putting anything that would not move, ... that's the end you will sound the alarm. Its alarm touch sensitive, etc not door lock to protect haushold.
Next time play with Acid to fill padlock 🤣

Not good as a lock, but useful as an attachable alarm device. For example, you can attach it to your bicycle (in addition to a U lock) while you sleep in a tent. If you attach it to a place which is difficult to access with tools, then I doubt 99% of the thieves will be expecting it or be able to walk away without setting it off.

Question, if you integrated a similar design (or better) into a more durable lock would it be a decent improvement to security? Or would it still be worth little to nothing like this one is?

Your garden path must be paved by old locks that didn't withstand the hasp test.

when you personally dislike something and don’t want to give credit for a lock that actually works the right way and without extremely specialized tools that you just so happen to sell you bash it…literally, in this case
you make it clear that unless they’re your favorites you’ll go out of your way to bash the company in any way possible

That was fantastic. Do you have a sense of how a good multi-lock (or similarly well-constructed padlock) would stand up to the same strike?
