The vintage 1969 Albano Waite is my favourite deck of all time. So much so I have 3 copies of it - including the miniature 1987 Albano Waite with original vintage colours. I'm crazy.
I can't believe you mentioned Raecine at owlmoon153! I LOVE her. You both inspire me so much by your deep connection to Tarot and how you express it in your videos. You're right - different aesthetics but I love them both! I wanted to mention - about Tarot of Vampyres by Ian Daniels. I also don't really connect with something that's a little darker but I bought it on Raecine's recommendation that the book itself is worth the price. And I totally agree. It is the book I reach for when I want to go spiritually deeper with the meaning of a card (which is always lol). Ian Daniels talks about each card in general and in a separate section describes the imagery for that TOV card. He transformed my relationship and understanding of the Hanged Man and Devil cards. The book might interest you. Anyway, thanks for this video - love it!
Okay - dang it. Well the jury is still out. I’ve had the Fools Dog app for years, and did take a look at the book on your recommendation. Watching more videos. Maybe some day…. - Thanks for watching, Sharon!!
Also for a way to get the book for easy reference is the fools dog app. I buy alot of fools dog apps to be sure . I like what I can do with them. I can make the art bigger too.
I had taken a pretty long hiatus from Tarot and just got back in to them, so I had no idea about Pagan Otherworlds before watching this vide 2 weeks ago. But just from this brief discussion I quickly went online and purchased the deck and it arrive a few days ago. I have been impressed with the deck and am excited to work with it. I can see why it’s one of your favorites. Thanks for recommendation
Thankyou Esther for your time and wisdom. Could you please tell me more about the edition of the greenie you have ? I am searching for the edition you have it'd be a great help
Loved to see you and see the decks! Perfect style to do the top 5 and show at least 10! :) Appreciate it :) haha I might do it again too. Your style. Xx 😘
I love your aesthetic and take on the tarot. I also view the cards as one system that has lineages. I really enjoy watching you content because of your deep understanding. 💗💗💗
The current edition of the Margarete Petersen has maroon colored borders. :) It's very pretty. Anyway, loved hearing you talk about your favorites! I'm a sucker for a good list haha :)
Yes! I bought that edition a couple of months ago! I love it - and keep meaning to do a comparison video… I think it’s my favorite: the beautiful colors, and thinner, more flexible card stock than the original German edition.
Checking in, thanks for sharing the honorable mentions; I was delighted to see the watermelons made an appearance. Absolutely sick for the Hoi Polloi seeing it up against the Albano... it may have to be my next deck! - ben
Gentle Tarot has my heart 1000%. If ever there was a soul deck for me, this one has to be it. Every reading speaks to me in the deepest way, and somehow always brings out the words that I needed to hear. I'm not a person that cries easily, but I find myself tearing up and getting completely swept up in the messages and the imagery. I really hope you get more time to explore the depths of this deck, because it is truly profound and healing.
PS - the linen addition is sublime. It is so easy to handle and shuffle, and somehow the images seem clearer and leap off the cards. I was worried it would somehow lose that feeling I adored in this new card stock, but it doesn't.
Oh yes to a video about reading about your dog. I have read about people and their animal companions before and it was quite helpful. I haven’t read about a specific animal though. I am really curious to hear how people go about it and how it goes.
A year down the line!! I can't believe you burned your Thoth greenie!! Yeah... I guess I can believe it. I am sitting here waiting for the mail because, all I wanted in the whole wide world was Ritual Tarot and Jamie sold me her first-edition for cheap. I am totally jealous of your super rich RWS scores...but I gotta say, my favorite RWS is my Swiss 80s yellow box. It's such a yummy shuffle. I got a blushing fool really easily 😮 and I love it... but the shuffle is not my favorite. I just did a top 5 and it was pretty easy. 😂 My next tarot wish...maybe to find a greenie! I only have the one copy of Thoth, my original first US Games large green box, stripped naked of her borders and living happily in an Endora crocheted bag. 😊
You had me guessing to the last minute! With such an extensive collection I just had to see your final selection. Really enjoy seeing some of your rare, and unusual decks. Thank you for sharing!
Loved watching your choices Esther and only surprised that you didn't choose one TdM style deck. I so hear you on Pagan Otherworlds - it's one of my all time favs that I could never ever part with.... yet rarely read with! But it's so god damn beautiful!!
This was SO much fun! You really know how to keep us on the edge of our seats! And I was a bit shocked to see how many of your faves I also own and love. Why can't I seem to be drawn to use Pagan Otherworlds, I mean at ALL? Riddle me this!I think you will fall in love with Gentle Tarot which I simply adore and feel so cozy with when I use it. Wondering why the Brady tarot is not more beloved to at least not much hyped. Do you own it? It seems like you'd like it's depth if not its card stock. Loved your choices. Thanks again for such a fun vid. Always love seeing you swoon over your vintage rareities. Sadly, my Spanish Tarot has really weird red skin coloring that keeps me from loving it. xx
I do own the Brady Tarot - the kickstarter edition. Wanted to love it but didn’t quite. It’s in pride of place near my reading table, because I’m sure I’ll come back to it and try again. For now the simple truth is that the images were a little too dark - i mean coloration-wise. I found it hard to read. Pagan Otherworlds is not a particularly inviting deck - despite the warmth of the colors. Because of its topic, people tend to want to classify it as an earthy deck. But I actually think its more air than earth and in certain odd ways reminds me most of the Fountain Tarot. There’s a coolness to this deck. Aloof… And yes, the odd orange-red faces in the Spanish. This is an issue even in the 1970s boxed version, but got much worse in recent editions…. Sigh. Vintage copies are still available at reasonable prices… I got mine on a Spanish auction website called todocoleccion… Thanks for watching, Jo! xoxo
Great collection. I recently inherited my mom's 1984 greenie and growing up I was scared of it. But now that it is mine I've made peace with it. The more I've delved into the history of tarot the more I love owning such a special deck. Btw...where do you get those amazing custom tarot bags?
i love this; all wonderful choices, RWS will always be classic! i wonder if you could post a comparison of both your versions of the aquarian tarot...? i am fascinated by the vintage reworking but it seems no one else has reviewed it or compared the two. thank you again for sharing your thoughts with us!
@@MindfulTarot I don't have a source, just an observation, in Golden Dawn the 4 of Swords is "Lord of Rest from Strife", in some scenic GD decks, like the Cosmic Tarot, it is portrayed as 4 men sitting enjoying each others company, with the 4 swords resting in front of them. It's implied that there may be a truce. That hybrid deck, reminded me of that GD meaning more so than the rest and relaxation meaning of an RWS deck. But in non scenic GD decks, the emphasis is on Jupiter in Libra, so restraint. And restraint is key in chess, it really is more a personal observation
19:21 ... well I can tell what scares me about the Thoth: On the one hand it's the artwork. The combination of symbolism, art deco and brutalism does remind me of the art of Harold Arthur McNeill ... That kind of style was also somewhat popular among folks engaged with the supremacist ideologies around during the deck's creation. On the other had I'm also uncomforable with the habit of the deck's creators using titels like "Lady" and "the great beast". That doesn't mean, that I don't like the artwork or hate the deck. It is an intriguing deck. I just don't know if I'll wanna use it or work with it any time soon. (I'd probably have to engage with the obstacles first ... and then decide whether I'll wanna learn or use the deck ... or not.)

I really enjoyed this video. You are very likaeble.
So happy to see that Pagan Otherworlds made it:-) It is really otherworldly!

Oh the Spanish Tarot is beautiful 😍 And I love the Margarete Peterson too, including her beautifully poetic descriptions. Agreed on that. 🙏🏻💙
