The Rex stuff feels like weak psychology like we’re so beaten down by failed coaches that we’ll ignore the terrible downside of Rex just for a chance at that upside. It’s like texting the ex or going back to an old boss. Bad idea.
If the Jets ever did something, like you say that was "forward thinking" and innovative... it would be shocking, stunning...surprising.. but could they ever execute it, and if so, even hold it together?
Joe Douglas drafted Mekhi Becton over Tristan Wirfs. He also passed up 2 first rd picks and a a 2nd and a 3rd rd pick to DRAFT ZACH WILSON!!! Sam Darnold never had the infrastructure around him to succeed. That was Joe Douglas’s unforgivable errors
Rex's comments about how he'll turn things around right away, etc, are really cute. The reality is he got fired from the Jets for a reason. He failed in Buffalo after that and hasn't worked in the league since, for good reason. Retiring him will fail miserably. So he'll probably con dimwitted Woody into another chance, and it'll fail yet again.
On one hand I’d like Rex back solely due to the fact that he’s given me my best NY Jets memories over the past 20 years. On the other hand I agree with your points as well.
The Rex thing is just for Jet podcasters to get views because they know fans like Rex want Rex etc. It’s kind of embarrassing that videos are being done about Rex over other qualified candidates etc. Makes me not want to watch content creation. Getting just as bad as Jets media. Part of this vicious cycle. JET UP!
Pete Carol would be a disastrous choice at a top level. He was fully responsible for hijacking John Schneider drafting and team building after the first few years and that is why Seatle crashed talent wise. Pete had too much power. Now Schneider is drafting and running it again and he is very similar to that guy we had JD, only difference is the hit on a QB ... Russell Wilson.
I think Rex is the only one who wants the job. Why would anyone want that job. And what GM would take the job with a coach who isn’t his. That’s how jets got Idzik, nobody wanted the job
Rex Ryan coming back will be the ultimate Woody Johnson clown show. The man is not serious about winning. He is only about selling tickets. The only hope for Jet fans is that Woody the moron sells the team. Otherwise nothing will ever ever change.
JD was a below average GM after Idzik and McCagnan small hurdle to clear and he barely cleared it. Good riddance Woody might have been meddlesome but only this year when in my opinion Saleh and JD should have been let go last year
He already has, it's just he's still in uniform. I was against them getting him. I knew he wouldn't last a full season before his injury last year, and I don't think he'll finish this season.
I don't like any of the top QB's coming out. Too risky and would be a reach. Must rather see if Carson Beck drops to 2nd or 3rd round and take a shot, so you go into year with either Rodgers or Tyrod and two young guys Travis and Beck. If you don't like the young guys for 2026 draft one then.

I hope that they do, bring Rex back

My fear as a lifelong Jets fan is the fear that any real legit candidate will have working for micromanaging Woody!

Agree 100%. The Zach Wilson debacle, instead of sticking with Darnold and building the OL and DL, is where it all unraveled.

Bring him back!
Can’t wait to see Geno have a perfect passer rating against this lost Salehless defense at DeadLife stadium.
Pray for 3-14
Pray for it.
This team is gonna be my 13th reason why

Seahawks 45
Jets maybe 17
3-9
17? LOL, only if the defense scores 14 of those points.
Woody can be an idiot but hes an owner who is willing to spend and wants to win. It could be MUCH worse

Would you be in favor of Elon Musk buying the Jets? Surely he’d be a better owner than Woody, right?

Rodgers has to go

Rex can’t win without a qb. The jets don’t have one of those
