I've seen so many knife makers that seem to think they need to make a very tight vine pattern. To me, it looks cramped and over worked. You pattern is spaced out more and has a much more natural look to it. It's more elegant for being "less". Great job. Looking forward to starting to do some file work on my knives.
Thank you very much for sharing your skills, I've been wondering how to do this & now know that it is something within my skill set. Awesome! Thanks Again & Best Regards, Jon
Wow your vine work is some of the best I've seen and your instructional vid is really well done clear and great camera shots you taught me more in this one vid than all the others I've seen thanks for sharing you talent AussieScott
You said to add something to the epoxy resin when gluing the scales on, what colorant product would you recommend to bring it out? I'm just starting and I'm gathering knowledge so I can jump into knife making with both feet. Your artwork is inspiring!
Hi mate if you add powder paint to the epoxy when fitting the scales on to the blade and once the handle is finished the black powder paint make the pattern stand out hope the helps
+TaskMaster1983 This is the type of product. I bought a pack of 20 different kinds (sparkles, metallic, etc.), but can't find the exact one now. I've used them with CA glue with some success, but you have to be fast, it makes it set up faster. Clear epoxy is better. www.amazon.com/Crystal-Clay-Sparkle-Dust-Powder/dp/B017HWMUBU/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1457327255&sr=8-3-fkmr0&keywords=metallic+colorant+pigment+epoxy+pack
Beautiful work there... subbed you through a shout out off one of my subscribers who did a VR for me on my 500 sub comp video, will be watching more, keep them coming Atb Scott
+WarPath 808 - I could have sworn he said they were Nicholson files in the beginning of the vid. I inherited my Dad's machine shop tools and most of the files are Nicholson. People talk about the files going dull on heat treated steel but that doesn't happen with better files.
Hi there thanks for the interest I do not have a website at the moment but we can discuss designs and materials through email and youtube, hope this is of use. Thanks again oliver
One of the best videos on vine work! Good camera work, editing, and no annoying music! Thank you for your time, skill, and knowledge! I subscribed!!!
I love watching you work, very detailed on your filings.

Nice clear instructions there, Oliver. I quite like the length of the wave, my vine pattern was a bit shorter. Take care, Ralf
Hi Ralf thanks for the comment, I normally to the pattern shorter but I thought I will do something different this time.
Cheers oliver
I quite like it! :-)
How do you get the line down the middle of the blade ?
Hi there I used a set of calipers to scribe the line. Hope this helps
What type of steel do you use?
I use 1084
How can i buy one of your knifes.can you pmm thanks ray
why is the second knife's handle has a hollow
what brand files are you using. I bought some at Home Depot and they don't cut worth anything. thanksNice work.
I'm not sure on the brand, but they are made in England
+oshandmadeknives can you find out,and if the company ships?
+WarPath 808 - I could have sworn he said they were Nicholson files in the beginning of the vid. I inherited my Dad's machine shop tools and most of the files are Nicholson. People talk about the files going dull on heat treated steel but that doesn't happen with better files.
Nicholson files are good. The small round file he used first was made by that company.
Seriously, where can I buy one of your knives?
Hi there thanks for the interest I do not have a website at the moment but we can discuss designs and materials through email and youtube, hope this is of use. Thanks again oliver
Me trying to squeeze my phone to get the ringing to stop after the file strokes😮
you would be better off holding the handle fully in the vice...you have vibration at the moment which doesn't help,
Dude! You not good for a sixteen year old. Your good full stop. Brilliant work buddy.
