Yeah, I peeped it as soon as I saw it live. I seriously doubt they even knew what it meant. The real issue is what company is selling this and profiting from the look/symbol of a historically African-American sorority.
That is a good question. My cousin pledged delta, they have licensed vendors who sell the memorabilia
At least most of the comments you showed from facebook weren’t really mocking him but jocking about the situation 😭 it’s honestly quite funny how they’re comparing it to people getting random tattoos in a different language without knowing the meaning
No, no, NO!!! Do not come for my homies! I don't believe for a second that any of GOT7 knew this.
the mandarin tattoo comparison lol 😭bet no one in korea knows this sorority exists
I would even say no one outside the USA knows this sorority exists 😅
@@clarajacquin2425exactly I just found out about it today 😭
Well im asian although we do g
Have club and election club in colleges but we dont have sorority culture in atleast in my country im guessing south korea dont have that @@clarajacquin2425
Funny how everything turns into a controversy these days
I'm glad they blamed the stylists not the artists
Girl no just no. I don't think anyone is really making an big issue
The Got7 member’s didn’t know. The big question is how did a Delta jacket get in a K-pop wardrobe? Leave Got7 and the wardrobe stylists alone!
Congratulations, you all know a bit of Black American History. Delta Sigma Theta was started in 1913. Thank you stylists for getting people to talk about it.
I'm sorry but who tf cares?
Apparently a lot of people! I never pledged but people who have pledged take the Greek life very seriously. Not just Black ppl but anybody who has pledged a fraternity or sorority. I’m not going to give a history lesson but watch what you comment
I think the bigger issue is the fact that even with access and the ability to share knowledge a sever lack of it exists.
Who’s at fault? Those for lacking knowledge? Or those who chose to belittle others for lacking, as opposed to the sharing of knowledge. Teaching and learning work both ways
If you wanna have the conversation about cultural awareness. Okay. I’m listening. This video is just to gossip. LAME
Yes, I have the time. Yes, I have this saved in my notes app. Yes, I will comment on every video the same thing

So do you routinely wear things with writing or symbols on it without checking what it means first?
Don't you think that shows a lack of mindfulness?
Or at least shallowness?
Don't you think you'd deserve a bit of criticism for your willful ignorance?
For the most part, people are just making fun of them.
Considering where this comes from, they could be sued for violating a trademark. but that hasn't happened yet.
The education was clear from the beginning. They made it known that these were articles associated with a sorority and that only the people in that sorority are allowed to wear it. and on the off chance that other people do get to wear it, they need permission
@ you’re not even showing your face….your profile photo is a meme….
@ you have the AUDACITY to even reply to what I said without even showing your face!?! COWARD
Sorority is an American only concept there are very slim chance that even anyone is aware about the year and it’s important i myself research about this after i saw few Americans talk about it also sorority is something i have never heard before i started watching American streamers
It’s not that serious
Amazing information
If this is the only issue you have I'd say you got it pretty good
Que controversia de 💩
How shallow can you get?
If you don't know the significance of what you put on your body, then don't wear it.
If you aren't mindful to check the meaning of the symbols of words on the clothing you wear, then you should expect backlash.
@@p0rnany0ne …I really need you to find a dictionary…what does shallow have to do with the TOPIC of CULTURAL AWARENESS and spreading knowledge? Not EVERYONE in the world speaks English as their first language. Nor does EVERYONE in the world have the privilege to put anything on their body and wear what they want…let alone check the meaning of unknown symbols…..
@@p0rnany0ne Your point of view is what’s shallow. So EVERYONE in the world HAS TO BE AWARE OF AMERICA CULTURE?! NO OTHER COUNTRY EXIST?
@@p0rnany0ne you talk about mindful yet show ZERO of it yourself. I was discussing the inability to properly provide cultural awareness when we as a WORLD and COMMUNITY have access and the ability to share knowledge. Yet YOU chose to “make fun” and “belittle”
@@p0rnany0ne Were you born knowing everything? You never made mistakes? Mistakes are how we as HUMANS learn. Our responsibility as HUMANS IN SOCIETY AND IN A COMMUNITY are to HELP ONE ANOTHER. Not go to the internet and “make fun” or “expect backlash”
@@p0rnany0ne “then you should expect backlash” …..yeah….whoever hurt you…I apologize on their behalf. Child, please. Have a goodnight 😚
These jackets are from one of the divine 9 sororities, an important aspect of historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) in America. Which started during Jim Crow law times because black people weren't allowed into white colleges because of their skin color and by association unable to enter fraternities or sororities. There's important history of struggle of african americans just trying to access higher edcation in America's history, that our government is actively trying to erase and undermine right now (among other things like public education access and funding) judging by attempted legislation to dissolve the department of education. I'm not a legacy, I never pledged, and I'm not into Greek Life, but it's disrespectful. It's its about time we stop infantillizing the decisions grown adults continue to make in the kpop industry tjat heavily borrows from black culture purely for aesthetics and profit. Those of you saying they didn't know any better are right. They don't know the history of struggle that came with those letters and the organizations coming into existence so african americans could have access to higher education in safe learning spaces. They have no business wearing them. Period.
See i absolutely understand kpop has browed from african american culture and as an asian im quite aware with adrican american history and hbcu but i didnt knew you guys have sorority grouos and that its taken so seriously
The question is how this jacket is gone to kpop its seems like its only given to college students
I didnt heard that trump is trying to dissolve deparmwnt of education
Seee you almost had me…until “I’m not a legacy, I never pledged, and I’m not into Greek life” So basically you’re just talking about something you KNOW nothing about……
…..you wrote this with ZERO personal experience….do y’all go outside and socialize with people…like outside the house….off the internet…..
Bla bla bla bla, no one cares
しょうもな。
だったら売らなかったらいいやん
These items are heavily copyrighted. Americans don't even wear this lettering out of respect. Plus it's not available. Which makes me wonder how they even got them. So if they are copies, that's even worse. So I'm glad they are suing. I'm sick of the mistake excuses
Ugh they just came back and the locals are after them already. Why do we still have mistakes like this in 2025? 🫣🫠😭
Because the "they didn't know any better" stans keep excusing this behavior like the adults continually making the decisions are children. They keep playing in people's faces because the people allow it and make excuses for it.
@ agree, even as a GOT7 fan something like this should not be excused. Ofc I don’t think anyone should be hated, but criticism is deserved no matter the group/stylist/company etc.
@@themagicspoon1379 sorry babe I know that in the States you all think everyone should be informed of every aspect of your culture but at least myself have never heard of such a thing, and usually at least myself don't research about the history behind every item of clothes I wear, instead of criticizing Got7 look yourself in the mirror and think if it's reasonable to spect everyone to know every single detail about US culture/history
@@Imanspy-q8y While I respect your opinion, I’m not even from the US I’m from Asia. Secondly, ofc I do acknowledge that they probably didn’t know. I have enough faith in them that if they did know, they’d probably not wear it. All I’m saying is that now that they DO know, it should be fair that they learn from it and accept the criticism fairly.
Ofc it’s not Jinyoung’s fault specifically (as I mentioned) but I feel like everyone shld use this as a learning point and move on from it…
