Survivor series and wrestlemania backlash piss me off for centring the entire show around advertising movies on Netflix I’ve been a wwe fan for 16 years I know about ppv sponsorships and I don’t mind it when it’s a commercial or a smash up animation but having it plastered all over opening video packages, having Austin theory stealing a golden egg from the movie and having people dress up in zombie makeup in a lumberjack match is crossing the line because it doesn’t feel like im watching a wrestling show it feels like im watching an ad for army of the dead it’s basically saying “enjoy the match well you can see more zombies by checking out army of the dead streaming only on Netflix” I get it the pandemic put a damper on ticket sales but honestly this is the stupidest way to make money back and it overall just ruins the show for me. Again I don’t mind ppv sponsorship but keep it out of the show
I'm not really a big fan of any modern wrestling promotion, but I legit don't get how anybody still watches WWE regularly. They treat their workers like garbage, releasing dozens of people while recording record profits, not to mention the lack of benefits or protection, and meanwhile constantly book ridiculous, intelligence insulting commercial bs like that. At least a company like AEW books long term storylines that feel meaningful and treat their workers like human beings 😅
The exploding barbed wire ending was bad but at least it was a botched ending. Many of these were intentionally booked that way. That is the key difference that saves that match from the top spot.
Yeah, on paper it's a strong idea, especially with Eddie Kingston coming in for the face turn save. Unfortunately, a special effects botch ruined everything.

It actually would have been a good on the fly ending IF the guys in the building were right on the ball in improvising and Omega and his guys came out immediately after the botch and started laughing at Mox and Kingston, Kingston gets up right away looking totally humiliated, and the announcers then got in on the new direction right away.
@@apersononyoutube1994 I have to respectfully disagree. Yes the ending royally sucked but to let it bog down the overall match is a disservice. Hell with a bit of polish and clever thinking it could have been passable.
The fiend vs Randy Orton is the most depressing entry here for me and Adam said the crux issue……fan investment. That pay-off was the starting point of my departure from watching WWE full time.
I've really gotta disagree with Omega v Moxley being on this list. The match itself was awesome with some genuine smart booking (the One Winged Angel rope spot) but yes the ending was embarrassing. I don't think that necessarily makes it one of the top ten worst of the year. Same for Balor vs Roman.
Uh, no, they're not the same at all. Omega/Moxley was a _botch,_ and it was the _post-match angle_ after Omega pinned Moxley to win that was a screw-up. In Reigns/Balor, the horribleness was _the actual finish of the match,_ with Roman only winning because, uh, God is on his heel-ass side? And this wasn't a botch, it was _intentional._ Omega/Moxley was an embarrassing screw-up that said AEW needs to vet their pyro sources better and spend more on them. Reigns/Balor was a loud public declaration "OUR WRITERS ARE ACTUAL LEGIT IDIOTS!"
Agreed. The horrible botch was after the bell. The match was great to watch in my opinion. It may take away from the wrestling quality, but the match itself has no place being near a "Worst PPV match"
So, Backlash 2021 was literally the opposite of Backlash 2018? In 2018, Miz was involved in the only good match while in 2021, he was involved in the only bad match
if you have a small mind, maybe. the match itself was great, the explosion had zero impact on the result of the match, and the promo work Mox and Eddie did on Dynamite to cover a technical botch was believable and entertaining. Consider the bigger picture and the explosion is a non-issue.
Adam Blampied as Alexa Bliss is something I didn't know I needed Also, apart from the zombie wrestling match (that's something I thought I would never say) WrestleMania Backlash was WWE best show in 2021. Might be a hot take, but I think it's their best show
Surprised Big Show vs QT wasn't on the list purely based on how genuinely sad it was to see Paul slowly walk to the ring looking like he was in way too much pain.
-I disagree about Becky’s heel turn. It’s been a massive failure. And you can see week after week why she should not be a heel. People just do not want to boo her. And it ain’t helping her opponents either. The Women have been booked pretty awful this year in general (aside from Banks vs. Belair at Mania).
I half agree. She can be a great heel if she actually had a good face to go against and that BS with Charlotte didn't happen. Liv is definitely improving in ring but she's so bad on the mic and her promos have such god awful writing to them
Army of the Dead isn't terrible. It's not as great as it was hyped up to be, but it still wasn't terrible. It was better than Batista other film Bushwick where both main characters dead despite the girl he meets in that film being more likeable than Batista's daughter in the zombie movie.
I got hyped when I seen the trailer, watch the movie, didn’t even last 30mins it was a lil too boring for me. Nobody really stick out to me, not even Batista
Saying Alexa Bliss stole the fiend's gimmick is like saying Mat hardy stole Jeff's gimmick. Or Kane stole undertaker's gimmick. They were part of the same faction. Of course their gimmicks would be similar!
Silliness and wrestling go hand in hand. I've been watching wrestling for thirty years and I've always been ok with some level of silliness in my wrestling but 2021 is the first year where I've actually felt stupid for being a wrestling fan. 2021 got me feeling like Cornette lol.
The Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch doesn’t belong on this list IMO. The actual match itself was a ton of fun, the feud between Kenny and Mox was white hot at the time and the angle with Kingston coming down for the save was legitimately heartwarming. Sure, the explosion at the end sucked, but that was a technical problem, not idiotic booking. I’m sure WWE put on a worse random Midgard match at some point in the year that deserves the spot more
indeed. the exploding ring wasn't even part of the match. Part of the story of course, and it's a shame the production botched. But to even have the mach itself on the list feels like a sorry attempt to stop this entire list being WWE and placating the WWE fangirls and idiots crying bias.
I don't agree with the AEW match or Reigns/Balor. Bad endings don't negate good matches. There were lots of PPVs where you didn't even care how the match finished. I don't even agree about the zombies, which was just dumb fun. Miz got eaten by zombies at the end of it, that's hilarious.
Feels super wrong to have a production error cause a match to be considered one of the worst, but the more I think about it, you might be right. God damn it!
Okay as an AEW fan I'll admit that the Revolution PPV wasn't great, but considering WWE has coverd 99% of this list, Vince either needs to retire and put someone competent in charge or just shut WWEs doors all together.
Revolution wasn't as great as last years, but yeah WWE has probably the worst year in terms of decision making. Seriously Reigns vs Balor didn't even have a clear explanation, the zombies thing at Backlash was absolutely random and unrealistic, and of course, THOSE RELEASES
I'd love to hear Zelina Vega's real thoughts of going to Saudi Arabia and having the spotlight on her while in front of the very people that killed her father and many others in the worst act of terrorism in history.
Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton was the match that broke me. The match that officially made me quit WWE, and I haven’t watched a PPV, Raw, Smackdown, or even NXT since. What sucked most of all? Wyatt/Orton was the FIRST match at night two of Mania, so I still had an entire show ahead of me to simply not care about.
Adam, I don't know what you have planned for your next booking vid (obviously) but if I could make a request, PLEASE, I want to see how you would book Alexa's character both with and post-Fiend. That'd be nice.
I think Roman vs Demon Finn, was actually an AMAZING match! Yea the end was weird. But that doesn’t take away from the fantastic performance, that the 2 of them put on.
I will say I think WWE has had some of there best pay per views. They've been pretty consistent with some really great matches. Honestly these matches didn't really ruin any the pay per view for me. But they did make me scratch my head and question why I'm watching this.
Granted I have watched a total of seven minutes of WWE television all year, but how bad does someone have to be in the ring to have a bad match with Viper? And no, I won't call her Doudrop.
Look, I’m seeing a lot of comments about Moxley v. Omega, but imo a match like exists for the sake of the moments. It’s called a BARBED WIRE EXPLODING DEATH MATCH. The work between the bells was solid but that was an ending match and ending *did not go*
except this is a worst Matches of the year not worst ending to PPV's yes the ending was not good but the in ring work aka the match was amazing violent with innovating spots and a great end to the match.. you can't penalize a match for what happens after the match

the "exploding ring match" should not be on the list, the ring "explosion" (or really, the sparklers going off) was NOT part of the match, Omega won after a one winged angel, got the pinfall win, celebrated, and left the ring before Eddie Kingston came in to protect his frenemy from the sparklers... the match was OVER. and it was even stated in the video "the match was good" so obviously NOT one of the 10 worst MATCHES, certainly one of the worst endings to a PPV, but not part of the match. seriously they had really screwed up in ever booking the match with that stipulation, there was no real way to do it right, if they had a big explosion, people would have freaked out and complained about it being unsafe (such as when matt hardy hit his head on the table bump, and kept going) but doing a weak "explosion" was also going to be bad, as it was.
the explosion botched. You could tell half of the roman candles didn't trigger correctly and were delayed, and with the thin trickle of smoke it looked like a big flash-bang style pyro didn't even light up.
Mox Omega was a great match, with a laughably awful gimmick at the end of the match. Really weird inclusion on this list and even weirder that it's be ranked higher than the Queens Crown final and the Bianca squash.
My least favorite matches 10. The Fiend vs Randy Orton WrestleMania 9. Eva Marie vs Alexa Bliss 8. Damian Priest vs The Miz 7. Doudrop vs Zelina Vega 6. Women's MITB ladder match 5. Women's Tag team turmoil match 4. Braun Strowman vs Shane McMahon 3. Women's 5 on 5 survivor series elimination match 2. Braun Strowman vs Elias 1. Alexa Bliss vs Shayna Baszler
You know what would've made that zombie match entertaining? If the wrestlers acted like the zombies were fake and harmless but when knock out of the ring, a zombie bites one of them. They become frightened not because they are real zombies, but because there people dressed as zombies are extreme method actors who are willing to actually bite you to stay in character. This way the wrestlers can be scared without them being dumb enough to think zombies are real
Seriously...? Only *ONE* AEW match? Like... guys. I don't want to call you Tony Khan shills because that's unproductive, but that entry was more token than Chucky Cheese currency.

FWIW, they even explained Kingston's reaction on the next show (it was PTSD I seem to recall), and as bad as that excuse might be, it was at least _something_ . We still have no answer for the Fin Balor ending. Not "the Usos cut the ropes", he didn't get a rematch on free TV that they could just schmoz a week later, the viewers just got...nothing. So weird.
@@andrewshandle given Kingston's very real and open battle with anxiety, depression and paranoia, his post-botch promo was almost perfect which then lead into some fun banter with Mox accusing Omega of buying Acme products.
It wasn't a bad excuse, it's was brilliant.
Jesus Christ mate
@@rossclutterbuck1060 I mean...okay, well I see it differently as a viewer. I'll give them credit for trying to come up with something plausible but it still didn't land for me. I'm not saying the match should be on the list, but it's also okay to call them out on something that didn't work, even if they tried their best to fix a bad situation.
@@andrewshandle I hate when plot holes don't get explained so I appreciate the effort no matter how silly it may seem. I love superhero comics; I'm used to ridiculously contrived explanations. "Maxwell Lord is evil now? How did that happen? Superboy-Prime punch spacetime and the ripples from that changed things, you say? Eh. It's better than nothing."
Becky vs Bianca was so terrible that it broke me - I unsubbed to the network and it got me to watch All Out and I truly enjoyed it, never looked back since
Sound like a biiiiiiiiitch 🎻😭
The Kenny v Mox deathmatch was incredible, but the post match is all anyone will remember. There were so many great moments like Mox kicking the barbed wire to get Kenny to break the pin on the OWA. The match was great. The aftermath was just bad
Yeah I don´t get why it is on the list. The dud at the end is one of the worst moments sure. But the match itself from start to finish was great.
@@ryosanada7933 i get why its on...it was a laughable finish that spoiled a great match...plus you gotta put one AEW match on there to stop the e-drones from whining about "bias" and what other AEW ppv match are you going to pick?
The botch happened well after the bell rang to end the match tho, so the botch happened as an unfortunate PPV ending, not a match. If you want to talk about the worst matches, maybe talk about the lack of quality in the match, the storytelling, the psychology, ya know stuff that happened between the bell ringing to start the match and the bell ringing again to end the match. This is an unfortunate PPV finish, and it nearly killed any follow up to the match itself, but that shouldn’t be on this particular list…
People keep saying this but most people seem to remeber the match actually being awesome.
@@chrisscott2009 exactly, i had to stop watching wrestletalk, they clearly know wwe sucks and aew is a superior product but they criticize aew hard and jump through hoops to make wwe seem better and keep the wwe fans happy
Hardly disagree on Omega vs Moxley one. The whole match was good till the end, the botch happened after the bell rang.
Can't really compare to Reigns vs Balor. Omega vs Mox was a botch, Reigns vs Balor was a booking decision. Vinnie the Pooh actually thought that booking was a good idea.
The match itself was brilliant but WrestleTalk has always been on some "both sides" crap, presumably believing that, if they didn't arbitrarily put an AEW match on a list like this, RUclips comments would scream bias.
@@adeliciousbutterydong7664 I'm sure comments would be how they are on the TK payroll! Sometimes I am really embarrassed to be in the same community as certain people!
@Pony Sports TV that is literally what i just explained - yeah of course i get it
AEWtist cope
At least a company like AEW books long term storylines that feel meaningful and treat their workers like human beings 😅
its telling that the only AEW match on here had a botch while the rest was booked this way
The exploding barbed wire ending was bad but at least it was a botched ending. Many of these were intentionally booked that way. That is the key difference that saves that match from the top spot.
True and that finish still cracks me up
Pure ass 😷
it wasn't the ending of the match, it was a spot planned for after the match. That's an important factor few people remember.
I feel bad for that match, wasn’t even the worst, the face of the revolution ladder match wants a word.
Yeah, on paper it's a strong idea, especially with Eddie Kingston coming in for the face turn save. Unfortunately, a special effects botch ruined everything.
Dear Lord, the only AEW match to feature in this list and it technically shouldn't even be here.
I think it’s there just to have an AEW match on the list, otherwise I can see this list just being WWE because they really disappointed this year
Just kinda proves that AEW takes better care with their match set ups.
Man I wouldn't go out of the way to say the Moxley vs Omega Explosion Match was bad, but it was really embarrassing. Especially since my whole family sat down to watch it with me intrigued to see what would happen only for them to see a bunch of sparklers and smoke grenades
botches happen
Match was great, ending was terrible. Sadly that's what matters most times
Let's be real. The barbed wire match is on this list because they didn't want it to be 10 WWE matches.
Yeah.
No? It was there because of one of the worst endings in PPV History
@@jamesrobbos4457 But it’s the only one that was terrible because of a production botch. All nine WWE entries went exactly to plan and were still terrible, because they were terrible plans.
@@TheComicBookJoker Your point being? It's still an atrocious ending to an average match. Regardless of planned or not they completely ruined it
If this year has taught me anything in wrestling, it that WWE can't help themselves but to ruin amazing characters that can get over with time. See The Fiend, Karrion Kross, Keith Lee, and a personal one for me, Hit Row. 😔
All absolute ass, except for Keith Lee
@@shannonbayley3684 Lmaooo okay bud. Not like Bray was literally the only needle mover in the company just over a year ago
@@unlimitedrabbit You're delusional if you think any of the wrestlers mentioned would be bigger than WWE. The only wrestlers who have been bigger than the brand are John Cena and The Rock. Maybe Hogan. That's it. None of those wrestlers are anywhere near that level and never will be.
@@Adamgoms only because WWE is constantly making sure no one gets bigger then WWE, probably why they keep Cesaro in the mid card
I'll say it. WWE has become more laughably pathetic than TNA ever was.
I would say equal
Lol nobody can ever top that company bro.
WWE still hasn’t had Jeff Hardy come to the ring while high on all the drugs in the world. They’re getting pretty close to that laughable patheticness, though.
@@TheComicBookJoker I wouldn't be so sure WWE didn't send Jeff Hardy to the ring while high on drugs...
Hill I'm absolutely willing to die on. The crap ending of barbed wire death match.... Was not bad enough to land the match on this list. I thoroughly enjoyed the match as did the group of friends I watched it with. Def not a 5 star classic but worked really well. Could it have been better...yes. But not overall a bad match
It actually would have been a good on the fly ending IF the guys in the building were right on the ball in improvising and Omega and his guys came out immediately after the botch and started laughing at Mox and Kingston, Kingston gets up right away looking totally humiliated, and the announcers then got in on the new direction right away.
Legitimately an all time terrible ending lands it on the list.
Especially since that was a post match angle. The bell had already rung. The match itself was over.
Its always gonna be about how you leave them, for better or for worse.
"I'm just tired of hoping for the best."
-Adam, encapsulating the last two years of all of our lives
In WWE terms, I'd say five.
So, Backlash 2021 was literally the opposite of Backlash 2018? In 2018, Miz was involved in the only good match while in 2021, he was involved in the only bad match
Loved the exploding barbwire match but unfortunately it’ll be forever tainted by that finish
if you have a small mind, maybe. the match itself was great, the explosion had zero impact on the result of the match, and the promo work Mox and Eddie did on Dynamite to cover a technical botch was believable and entertaining.
Consider the bigger picture and the explosion is a non-issue.
The exploding ring botch was a technical issue and had nothing to do with wrestling or booking
I don’t count the Revolution match cause the bad bit happened when the match already ended
Merry Christmas, Adam. Still delighted to have you back and these lists and bookings are amazing. 👍🙏
Adam Blampied as Alexa Bliss is something I didn't know I needed
Also, apart from the zombie wrestling match (that's something I thought I would never say) WrestleMania Backlash was WWE best show in 2021. Might be a hot take, but I think it's their best show
Oooooooooh no...I legit forgot about the "floppin Finn" spot. *SIGH*
Surprised Big Show vs QT wasn't on the list purely based on how genuinely sad it was to see Paul slowly walk to the ring looking like he was in way too much pain.
That match was a waste of time that it shouldn't have been on the main card. But wwe has outdone themselves with bad matches this year
-I disagree about Becky’s heel turn.
Liv is definitely improving in ring but she's so bad on the mic and her promos have such god awful writing to them
It failed in making people hate Becky, but it succeeded in giving us a very entertaining character, which I think is more important
Army of the Dead isn't terrible. It's not as great as it was hyped up to be, but it still wasn't terrible. It was better than Batista other film Bushwick where both main characters dead despite the girl he meets in that film being more likeable than Batista's daughter in the zombie movie.
I thought it was good with a botched ending.
I got hyped when I seen the trailer, watch the movie, didn’t even last 30mins it was a lil too boring for me. Nobody really stick out to me, not even Batista
7:51 Alexa Bliss had a pet pig? Damn that sucks the poor pig passed away. Pigs are adorable, pigs as pets are really adorable.
I'm tired of silliness. The world doesn't need more stupidity WWE is exactly why we need both NJPW and AEW. 😢 😢😢
Given what I've learned about AEW in the past seven days, I regret the good things that I said about them.
For good or for worse, you can at least remember those moments, I can't remember ish from AEW except for the exploding ring lmaooo
Bell to bell, moxley vs Omega was awesome
the death match finale apart, that card was brilliant.
I love that anytime Blampied says "Lord" or "God" a Mick Foley pictures appears. Perfection
When you realize the Zombie Lumberjack match really didn't need to happen.......
I choose to remember Fiend/Randy at Mania for Bray's Brodie Lee tribute, and *only* the Brodie Lee tribute.
I actually had to shut my tv off after watching that zombie match, and ask myself "am I high right now? Did that actually happen?"
The Demon King seizing himself into a comeback out-hokies any Hulk Up in history. I would love to be in the room when they propose that finish to Finn
Yeah, true, but he did go along with it. I swear none of these wrestlers have enough backbone to say no to stupid ideas.
LOVE your videos Adam, I’ll be subscribed for life
Most awaited list of the year
Rip Bray, sorry ur final mania match was 2nd on this list 😔
I don't agree with the AEW match or Reigns/Balor. Bad endings don't negate good matches. There were lots of PPVs where you didn't even care how the match finished.
I don't even agree about the zombies, which was just dumb fun. Miz got eaten by zombies at the end of it, that's hilarious.
Feels super wrong to have a production error cause a match to be considered one of the worst, but the more I think about it, you might be right.
God damn it!
I literally just noticed that in the freeze frame where John Morrison is doing the parkour that the zombie is Grayson Waller from NXT
Okay as an AEW fan I'll admit that the Revolution PPV wasn't great, but considering WWE has coverd 99% of this list, Vince either needs to retire and put someone competent in charge or just shut WWEs doors all together.
Revolution was good. Only problem was the garbage ladder match the rest of the card was fine
Revolution wasn't as great as last years, but yeah WWE has probably the worst year in terms of decision making. Seriously Reigns vs Balor didn't even have a clear explanation, the zombies thing at Backlash was absolutely random and unrealistic, and of course, THOSE RELEASES
Both Vince and Tony Khan need to shut doors, wrestling is dead.
People only care about Brock and Roman.
Are you kidding?
Revolution PPV was awesome!

Adam blampied, adam cole & adam page should become a new wrestling stable called Adam's Family.
And Adam Scherr, just saying. You need some muscle in that group.
The editor was absolutely holding that pic of Adam as Alexa at Wrestlemania in their back pocket, and I thank them for it.
It's an unwritten rule of wrestling: Only one zombie per match.
How can you have 2 of the best women wrestlers in the world Belair and Lynch and have them make this list. Just let them wrestle ffs
Y'all just can't accept that AEW has had a few bad finishes.
Finn Balor falling from the top rope was Vince's way of playing god and banishing him to the midcard, Fallen Angel style.
Granted I have watched a total of seven minutes of WWE television all year, but how bad does someone have to be in the ring to have a bad match with Viper? And no, I won't call her Doudrop.
Only thing you can remember about the tag turmoil was Mandy's trip? What about Dana's sip...?
I got past the intro and immediately knew the outcome. Is number 1 miz vs priest(with zombies)?😂
I like Alexa with her current character (hell I'm a fan in general of her) but I hate how WWE books & treats the character she plays
The fun thing about the exploding ring death mathc in AEW though is that they addressed the next night on AEW where Moxley and Kingston basically took the piss.
I was at that extreme rules for Roman balor lol everyone was like wtf is this
That exploding barbwire match with Mox and Omega was incredible
Oh how well 1:12 "Finally slain the sweaty dragon that is Shane McHam's Presence on WWE Programming" aged with the 2022 Royal Rumble and Shane's Influence
the "exploding ring match" should not be on the list, the ring "explosion" (or really, the sparklers going off) was NOT part of the match, Omega won after a one winged angel, got the pinfall win, celebrated, and left the ring before Eddie Kingston came in to protect his frenemy from the sparklers... the match was OVER. and it was even stated in the video "the match was good" so obviously NOT one of the 10 worst MATCHES, certainly one of the worst endings to a PPV, but not part of the match.
seriously they had really screwed up in ever booking the match with that stipulation, there was no real way to do it right, if they had a big explosion, people would have freaked out and complained about it being unsafe (such as when matt hardy hit his head on the table bump, and kept going) but doing a weak "explosion" was also going to be bad, as it was.
the explosion botched. You could tell half of the roman candles didn't trigger correctly and were delayed, and with the thin trickle of smoke it looked like a big flash-bang style pyro didn't even light up.
"Sentient spam"!!!! Absolute genius
Little rollynch🤣that is golden😂
Adam could make a list on top 10 rocks and it’d be more entertaining than every other Wrestling RUclipsr
All out and big show stuff isn't here but Mox vs Omega is😱🧐
Mox Omega was a great match, with a laughably awful gimmick at the end of the match. Really weird inclusion on this list and even weirder that it's be ranked higher than the Queens Crown final and the Bianca squash.

This way the wrestlers can be scared without them being dumb enough to think zombies are real
which is exactly how AEW book Abadon. And it's very entertaining.
So the only AEW match in the list was down to a technical problem, says it all about WWE creative
I thought that barbwire match was a hell of a match before the ending
