Excellent demo. Thanks for playing chords that actually showcase the pedal’s tone. Sounds like an awesome little pedal… tone is bang-on what I’d expect from a good BB. Would be interesting now to compare the Morning Star with the mini MXR Duke of Tone.
I just love Blues breaker circuits, I usually set amps clean, dial it to simulate that sweet edge of breakout point and leave it on all the time. It's the foundation of the tone I find to be pleasent when playing/practing. So my opinion is anything but unbiased. That aside, I've have played and owned a few BB pedals the Nux Morning Star, Mooer Blues Crab, Snouse Black Box, the Z.Vex Box of Rock and the JHS Morning Glory. I can safely say that the Nux Morning Star punches way above its weight. It's almost identical to its more expensive counterparts and does not suffer from the volume drop that the blues crab suffers (just like de original Marshal Blues Breaker), which despite of that is also an amazing pedal. I believe Blues Breakers go better when used as a first stage gain amp-in-a-box like pedals over clean amps, and for that use I'd rock this Nux Morning Star without ever feeling I was missing anything. Great vid and playing as always! Cheers!
I've tried a few Blues Breaker pedals, and have a bit of a hard time with them. They have this clean blend in the signal, that reminds me of a Tube Screamer. I automatically think "stacking gain" when I hear the clean signal mixed in. Perhaps that is the best way to use them? I don't like them so much on their own through a clean amp, although the Morningstar sounds better than previous BB pedals that I've tried.
@@TheToneLounge My signal path for gain stages is: guitar > fuzz face > morning glory > wampler tumnus > boss BD-2. I'll usually use the Mornjng Glory as an always on with just a hint of gain and when needed, I'll engage the Tumnus with the gain up high. But this signal path also let me use the tumnus as a very light transparent overdrive kicking in the Blues Driver. Or use the morning glory as a booster for the BD-2. I'll never use all 3 together though. With those 3 I can pretty much achieve all the gain I need for what I like. Blues breaker pedals are indeed finicky to handle, no wonder they've flown under the radar for years, but they have a character that I really enjoy!
I think you are following a very interesting path, in this case your videos about equipment made in China, this is very good, they are quality equipment and affordable for those who want to play guitar but are not a millionaire. 👏👏👏👏✊✊✊✊
Thanks Carlos. I'm aware that not everyone in the world has access to the greatest musical equipment. I traveled to Peru a few years ago, and it opened up my eyes to the fact that not everyone has a Guitar Center or Thomann in their country. I also realized that some countries get hit hard with import taxes. So, naturally I want to be able to provide everyone with something they can afford. They stuff coming out of the far east is really excellent.
Thanks for that great demo! Sweet! Nice playing too. Respect. I bet you’d play great on any gear. Got myself a used Marshall BB2. It pairs well with my little Vox AC4 and my Tele. It sweetens/softens the bridge pickup. The Tele bridge through AC4 can get a bit spikey/harsh. Haven’t tried it with my Hagstrom Viking yet. Cheers!
@@TheToneLounge I’m not sure, but I think the BB2 has been around for some time, but has been under the radar, so to speak. It’s indeed a remake of the original Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal. Purists say it isn’t the ‘real deal’. The BB2 has an added boost and the drive isn’t exactly a 100% copy of the original, as it has a very slight TS touch added to the Bluesbreaker tone. Or so I have been told. But my amateur ears are quite happy with it. I got one for €40, which seemed like a good deal to me. Here’s a demo from Jack Fossett - if that’s okay for you: ruclips.net/video/o7QgiWjaq9o/видео.html
Thanks for another great video. I think I'm going to stick with my Marshall bb2 and dano daddy o. But this would probably be great for someone who doesn't have a pedal that does this thing yet.
Bello il pedale ma la cosa stupefacente è il pulito del tuo ampli, pazzesco quanto è bello e nella descrizione dici che l'hai scelto perché non suona così bene? A me piace così tanto.
i struggle with this pedal. the shine is makes it way too bright and also the more the drive is, the brightness raising overall i feel this pedal way to dark, the only time i have to turn down the tone is when the shine is on is that normal or mine have some issue?
This pedal is finicky with certain amps, but it sounds Righteous thru my Marshall DSL 20 w/half stack. Also on a super clean platform like a Katana Artist 100...is just right.
Didn't make it for me. Maybe the last review of multiple overdrive pedals was overwhelming and that sounded a bit flat and lifeless. And it had all the help it needed from a fantastic amp. This is going to be a no no to nux.
They can't all be for everyone, and I totally respect that. Personally, I've tried some other Blues Breaker style pedals, and enjoyed this one more than others that cost more. It's all a matter of taste. :)
They are a Chinese company. As far as I know, they are family owned. As for morals, I'm not sure what you mean?! If it's about the "copying the circuit" thing, well they are not copying and are always adding features that are different from the original, which is what big brand companies are doing themselves in the US and Europe. I really like their pedals and highly recommend them.

If I can get my hands on one at some point, I'll do that video!
Sounds so good for the money. What a pedal.
Yeah! What amp do you use with yours?

Thanks Stijn! The AC4 is such an underrated amplifier. Is the BB2 the new version of the Blues Breaker?

There are a lot of great options out there. This is just one of many. ;)
@@TheToneLounge no doubt. One good thing about this pedal is the size of the footprint. Its smaller than my bb2 and much smaller than the daddy o.

I haven't experience it sounding bad with anything so far. NUX really did an awesome job with this one.
Amigo como se activa en este pedal morning star nux el buffer
I think that you can find this information on their website. Look for the .pdf on the product page.

What are the morals of this Nux company - do they give back to the guitar community in any way - hopefully they don't outsource to Asia or anything?
