Hey Chris. A pet peeve of mine is waiting to purchase items when it's clear I am willing to drop some cash, the seller notices me, and continues a long-form conversation. The gentlemen who sold you the toys -- and seems like a good dude -- made you wait WAY too long. He needs to tell the dudes he's talking to "hold up a minute", or "I'll get back to this", and make you priority #1. The tattoo artist also seemed like a chill dude -- but I agree with you. When the boys and I sell on FB, we spend 3+ hours prior grading each comic, finding comps, and setting the price. If we're moving real quick, it takes 5 minutes per book. Same thing applies as a seller at a show. All the pre-work allows you to enjoy the day, interact with customers, and make decisions on what can be sold for what (based on how much you've already put into the book, too). Best line ever: "You're a great salesman." Quick question: which show did you get the great deals on the big stack of ASMs?
This happened to me at a show recently. Was ready to drop $800 at a dealer and he just kept talking to some other guy and didn’t even ask if I needed anything. Side note I’m 6’4”, he saw me. I just ended up walking away.
Hey CGL, our table was right behind you but you passed right by us. Next time. Outerrimcollectibles. Thanks. Casino Jay. Hope to see you at the Edison show at the end of the month.
I feel you with that phone guy. I used to regular an LCS that used to have $1 bins and then switched to ebay price checking. When the owner is not in the store the cashiers won't let anyone buy anything because they haven't been priced. I'll pop in every now and then but obviously never buy anything.
Yeah, I don't like doing business that way. Even when I'm selling, I'm going to stick with my asking price that I researched prior to making the sale, but I'm not going to rope someone in and hit them with a crazy number.
Hi Chris, Superb Comic Haul including 1.Gi Joe A Real American Hero (1st series)#50(1986), and Remarkable Toy Haul inculding Star Wars Vintage Action Figures from both Hasbro/Kenner but also Marvel Legends Vintage/Retro Action Figures from both Hasbro/Kenner, also both The Tour and Walkthrough through The Wayne Toy Show in Wayne, New Jersey was very good, also thank you for sharing Chris keep up the great work stay safe out there and have a nice day.🙂👍💪🟢🇺🇸🦸
Cannot stand people not pricing books before the show. It’s extremely disrespectful to a buyer while they wait as you look up the price online. That pisses me off.
Fantastic Four #28 is actually mentioned on an episode of G.I.Joe. No really in the episode "My Brothers Keeper" two G.I.Joes Sci-fi and Sgt.Slaughter go to a world science fiction convention and in the background you can hear someone asking someone else "Where'd you get you're Fantastic Four #28?" So yeah, since this comic was mentioned on an episode of a beloved cartoon from the 80's I say you hit the jackpot.
I wish our last two local Comic-Con conventions here in Austin Tx had a even a small selection of vintage Silver Age comics and older like you seem to have at your NJ show there. Lucky lucky. We can only seem to find them on e-bay here.
Look for more silver and golden. Bronze and cooper are good too. Check conditions. Also I have seen other video that you posted about your father buying off eBay. I saw some Whitman variants. Whitman were printed from about 1977-1982. Those are good collectibles and prices are going up in higher grades. Collectors are looking for them. So much to look at. The price is right. Thank you for the content. Enjoy seeing your father with you.
@@CGL_Collectibles nice I was thinking about picking up a go pro. Ive been enjoying your videos. Im going to be in New York next month I might try and make a trip to the flea market and check you guys out.
No. I watch your videos for a myriad of reasons. The primary being both you and your dad seem to know very little about this hobby😒 I watch with amazement video after video as both of you pass up real good books. I literally mean you rifle right past value books🤨 You obviously have no knowledge of this as you instead pick up Archie’s😆 Next, you guys are bottom feeders. You purchase low grade, frankly garbage copies🤨 Why? Be a more seasoned collector. Always buy the highest grade you can rationally afford. You always hunt for $5 $2 books. For Silver and Bronze? That’s utterly ridiculous. Why bother? Just to have a copy? Not the best option for spending your money. You need to better educate yourself with this hobby if you’re actually serious about it. To long time collectors like myself you both look silly with how you acquire books. Neophytes actually. Your efforts are fantastic. Your acquisitions are not! Your knowledge is not! You’re acquisitions are not (Red Ryder REPRO gun from 2020?) worthless 🥴 …THESE are the things that drive me insane about you both and your videos😒 However, like a train wreck, sometimes you just can’t stop watching the carnage 🤷🏼♂️
The dealer who didn't have anything priced seemed like a good guy but selling books without prices and having to wait for him to price them is a big turn off. It's like those comic book stores that don't price their books and you have to find out the cost at the register and on top of that you have to wait while he goes in his phone to see what similar books are selling for. I walk out of the store never to return.
You know I bet you are the person that I need to talk to about maybe having or have seen a old Walt Disney Mickey Mouse comic. On the front cover its Mickey holding an old Double Barrel shot gun. Sorry I dont know the number or year or anything like that but there is no mistaking that cover. You dont happen to have or have seen said book by chance have you?
@@CGL_Collectibles Hey dont go out of your way or anything. But if you happen to come across one I may be interested. Like I said dont go out of your way to find one. Thanks for the reply.
I can guarantee you that the guy with the tattoos probably didn't sell 1 comic book at that show. He claims he has a baby on the way but was looking up every single comic book on ebay or another platform for top dollar..if he really needed the money he would of done a bulk deal and cut you a break..so I'm pretty sure he went home with all his comics...I'm just like you I'm not looking to pay an ebay price...if I wanted to pay an ebay price I'd save the gas money and buy it on ebay at the luxury at my home..I'm always on the hunt looking for a deal that makes sense whether I resell it or it goes into my personal collection.
I think there's definitely a conflict that this guy is facing where he wants to sell these books to provide for his child, but he also holds some of these books so near and dear to his heart that it's almost like he's selling his children. He's a collector at heart, and I can understand that, but I can't from collectors.
You are being nice & tactful. That seller is doing EVERYTHING Wrong. Not bashing the guy just saying a fact that I hope he reads to HELP HIM in the future. If you are paying for a table you are there to SELL. The guy even said he is having a kid & needs $$$. I guarantee if this guy had his stuff priced there would have been books you would have purchased therefore making him $$$$. The 1 thing that really was odd is leaving old price stickers on items. If I see a price sticker to me that is the price. If you tell me thats an old sticker I personally get the feeling you are trying to hustle me for extra $$$ because I am interested in the book. Please folks price your items ( Unless its a anything in this box $5.00 etc ) & remove old price stickers! Keep up the great vids. You & Very Gary are the 2 best comic book guys on YT!
Thank you so much, and yes, if this is first show he has a bit of learning to do. One thing I'd say is display the actual selling price on the book. If I wanted to know the price on anything it was a several minute trip into the phone. And believe me, there many people in this business who call themselves "sellers," but there main focus is NOT to sell. That's been demonstrated many times on this channel.
Not so thrilled at your going on multiple platforms. It’s hard enough to follow on RUclips. That said perhaps if you ever run into that kid again selling for the first time explain to him the importance of having things pre-priced and that was one of the limitations to your purchasing items. For the help he might’ve given you some great deals on the books you never know
I want this channel to be as big as possible and reach as many people as possible. For that to happen, I have to branch out into other areas of social media. Please don't feel obligated to keep up with everything because I want my content to be an enjoyable experience, not a chore. But yes, I hope he learned something from his first time. And while it's nice to believe a would've gotten better deals by sharing some words of wisdom, I don't think it would've been very likely hahaha.

First box, third comic in, first series Surfer...mmmm. Love that series.
Love that F.F. book with the xmen. Cool pickup. Great video-thanks

Loved how ice man was still in his cool snowy form instead of his later ice look. Good stuff.
I have a lot of those GI Joes. Bought them when they were published.😯

Son of Dracula #1 1975 10 to 15.00 Condition of course love it...

That guy at the end went to the show just to flex, probably didn't sell a thing. What a tool.
No need for name calling. We have to assume it was his first show and he's a little inexperienced selling in person.
Great content you 2...keep it coming..👏

It is getting harder to find good comics cheap cause everyone wants too dollar for them and your only chance is a yard sale or flea market.
