It’s a good sentiment to only buy what you need, less waste and higher quality items that last for many years. Glad the bonsai found a good home! We look forward to your next adventure wherever that might be!
Didn't realize how challenging it is to throw things away in Japan. Giving away what you don't need and practicing minimalism really benefits all. Good luck with your new move!
Getting rid of things is always a hard process. It is so much easier to buy new things! Maybe we should always give away one item for every new item we buy.
Are there no charity shops to recycle items that are still in good condition? I'm trying to embrace Lagom, which is sort of like nordic minimalism, but it extends into all aspects of life and society.
I love charity shops! They're actually up there in what I miss most about England (why buy new clothes when you have charity shops?) but Japan hasn't caught on to it yet. Lagom sounds interesting - will look it up 😊

Thank you John! 🥰
I hate cleaning up, so I always try not to buy things. But even then, I'm always amazed at how much stuff I have 😅

Also H&M collects clothes(clothes of other brands are okay too) and they give you a coupon.
東京は働きに行く分には良いけど、住みたくはない。外国人は何で東京に住みたがるのか。
