It is simply phenomenal how two separate human beings can play with such precision and articulation...it is almost as if they are tied telepathically! Brilliant...a joy to watch and listen.
Yes, exactly . . . more like identical twins than brothers separated by three years. Their interactions are astounding. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!
I just sobbed when I heard these two engaging brothers play the Berceuse, I wanted to hear it played 'properly' as I'm re-learning the piano after many years away. It really is the most exquisite melody, & played with 4 hands just enriches & enhances the listening experience. It also takes me back to 'Listen with Mother' all those years ago.....
Dolly de Fauré est une référence incontournable des œuvres pour le piano à 4 mains ! Cette merveilleuse suite a fait rêver des générations entières ! Très belle interprétation !👍🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
This sweet piece takes me back to my childhood, especially the Berceuse,as it played on BBC’s ‘Listen with Mother’ every day during the week? My love for Faure has stayed with through the years. The playing here is exquisite.
The Berceuse is also one of my treasured childhood memories because I remember listening to Listen With Mother with my mother. It is now one of my greatest pleasures to actually play the solo piece on the piano.
@@keyboarddancers7751 I too remember listening to the Home Service as an infant. (I think it was at 1.45 p.m.). I became a pianist, organist, school-teacher and piano teacher a few years later and I'm sure that it all happened as a result of this Faure piece. (I didn't know until I actually performed it, that is was 'really' a duet!) P.S. I believe one of the presenters on the 'Listen with Mother' was called Daphne Oxenford; I actually played in a concert she was involved with. Her voice was special and I told her how important this Faure piece was to me.
@@martyns398 Exactly my experience also, because of this Fauré piece. I remember begging my mother to leave the radio on at the end until the middle bit of the piece was over and the "proper" tune started again. I do think, however, that this performance of it is too fast. I play the Alphonse Leduc édition for two hands transcribed by Cortot, and I think this was the version used on "Listen With Mother", though I could be wrong.
@@Challenger2A7 At college (RCM) I played the duet version of 'Mother Goose' which I thought was an incredible piece! I guess it introduced me to Ravel's orchestral music, his piano concerto(s) and of course, Jazz. The story is that Gershwin visited Ravel and asked for lessons; Ravel replied, 'I cannot teach you anything!' (which could be taken in several ways!) I love playing piano duets but insist on two 'normal' piano stools and NEVER one 'duet-stool'. I need to be able to be at an angle - not sure why! (I think I visited Ravel's grave a long time ago.)
I really love this performance . I have heard it before, but it doesn't lose it's fresh appeal. The gentle Le Jardin de Dolly is my favourite. As ever, thank you boy wonders.
Thank you so much Lucas and Arthur, I really really enjoyed watching you playing with such amazing passion and sensitivity too, you are really really brilliant and it’s a tonic to listen to you both, as well as looking at your handsome young face’s. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
100% Elegance and control of their craft! It’s great to see this type of sibling collaboration. I miss the days of playing duets with my younger siblings.
Lovely rendition. As others have said, this piece is dear to the hearts of Brits of a certain age, being the outro to BBC Radio's "Listen with Mother". I loved the rippllng sound of the underlying motif and my 4yo brain gave it an appropriate name. I'm now a 75yo retired musician, but this piece will forever be known to me as "Diddle-diddle-dum"..... Je m'excuse profondément, M.Fauré !
Lukas & Athur Jussen Absolutely brilliant musicians, to play from so many different composers, how they remember some of the most complex and long pieces is beyond me,SUPERB
Великолепно- профессиональное и эмоционально- изящное исполнение... Талантливые,Умные,Интеллигентный и Красивые ребята. Покоряют своим исполнением,гармонией эмоций.
This is amazing, my 11 year old duaghter plays along with this everyday while practising the Primo part for her duet😊 These two gentlemen are incredible.
Ah...the joy of playing piano 4-hands repertoire! Brings back so many fond memories of the times when I did the same. Thanks for posting!! 😃😃😃👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽😍😍😍

@@effyleven Jolly good? GENIUS MASTERS to be precise. Saint-Saëns, Fauré, Debussy, Ravel. Each one totally different from one another. Utterly original geniuses. Like all master composers.
Obviously, Lucas and Arthur are stupendous, but let's give some credit to Gabriel Faure. This is a fantastic piece that invites good playing. It is a superb example of piano duet perfection. The themes are stupendous! The development of themes is stupendous! I would say that this is one of the best piano duets ever written. Thank you, Gabriel!
Wonderful performance. *What if a pianist had 4 hands :-)* That's like a wild dream that some of us have. The Jussen brothers make this dream to become true :-)
I really appreciate your comment, I live in the UK where the government despises such artistic and creative talent. I hope you are in a better situation. My regards. ❤
My piano partner and I are learning this....we have followed your journey as we learn pretty much the same repertory! Thank you so much for posting these vids :)
You take the familiar and with your approach you take the heritage and turn it into something extraordinary through structural insight and elegant ensemble more reminiscent of a great jazz ensemble than most classical ones. Thank you.
If memory serves me correctly, the Berceuse was the close-out music to Listen With Mother, rather than the opening music as suggested by Mr Ashtone. Faure's a jolly good fellow.
Woah! I am totally stunned by these Dutch people, Arthur and Lucas Jussen! I love your strategy!!! (Well, I am not Pavan, I am his granddaughter.) Me and my family were supposed to see you somewhere preforming but we didn’t! That was also a big surprise. From, Laylah, Age 7 PS: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Как всегда играют единым духом, как всегда изумительно музыкально, проникнуты стилем автора, всё очень точно, тонко, твёрдо. Нет больше таких исполнителей ( в смысле, не дуэт, а единое целое )
The two Jussen Angels were sent on Earth to make peoples as happy as they were created for. A million thanks to the two and long live.
It is simply phenomenal how two separate human beings can play with such precision and articulation...it is almost as if they are tied telepathically! Brilliant...a joy to watch and listen.
Practicing together will do that.
You should listen to Duo Assad's recordings! They are simply amazing: two Brazilian brothers guitarrists, who sound like a single guitar!

Почему почти телепатически? Именно телепатически. Это даже не ансамбль, это единое целое. И какая изумительная музыкальность.

I agree...absolutely love them...such temperament...virtuosity and utter sweetness in their playing...

The French piano music is probably the greatest in Europe of this period.
