The goal is to make that model perfect with NURBS surfaces. This is especially important for manufacturing purposes. Sub-D (smoothed out mesh) is much easier but offers far less accuracy and control over the final shape.
Sometimes, the "Edge continuity" tool will not work correctly when you modify one of the surfaces whose edge is included in the analysis. Also, if you already have two edges paired together for an edge analysis, the "Edge continuity" tool will not let you assign another edge to one of the two used edges. With other words, if edge A is long and touches two shorter edges B and C, the tool can't simultaneously pair edge A to edge B and edge A to edge C. You are allowed to pair only edge A to edge B or edge A to edge C, but not both.
Sure, you can download this particular display mode (and many others) from the first post in the following thread. Simply navigate to the bottom of the first post and download "Alias 4.ini" and its corresponding environment map named "Alias 4.jpg": discourse.mcneel.com/t/share-your-custom-viewport-modes-here/151321
Awesome skills.
Thank you!
can you tell us how do you perform such smooth and accurate panning and rotating?
Sure. I use a 3d mouse called SpacePilot. It's made by "3Dconnexion", a subsidiary of "Logitech".

If you were to use Sub-D surfacing, it wil take 90% less time ... and still be editable. Thoughts?

Hi, why sometimes the "edge continuity" command not work?
I click the icon, then click 2 surface edge, but information of between 2 edge not appear.
