I was in the fast track queue as soon as it started, we got the fast track for free when rita broke down and that was very unlucky as 2 rides breaking down as we are in the queue in a row. The fire alarm went off all of a sudden, they evacuated everyone in the preshow room and then everyone left the queue, the whole area was blocked off for the whole day i'm amazed I actually experienced this.

OMG HELP I WAS THERE 😭 i was on the Wickerman at least 8 minutes before it happened. when we got off, looked at our photos and everything, we heard an alarm and thought nothing of it. walked up to forbidden forest, went back down to walk to the other side of the park and noticed it had closed, and a kid was crying 💀 didn't really care, but i could smell smoke. nothing bad, though! it's not like it had spread, it was just a minor inconvenience. edit: isn't it crazy that some of us in he comments were in the park on the same day together...? that's wild.
Annother interesting thing that happened on tuesday and Wednesday was that i dressed up in a smiler themed outfit (jeans, shoes, shirt, hat and jecket all smiler) and got to skip the queue so maby times, not only on smiler but on oblivion, wickerman, nemisis and galactica aswell. Felt like a celeb and got a group photo with all the smiler staff! Unfortunately got stuck on the smiler twice but still cool.
I can confirm about the wicker man track partially catching on fire! I was outside the queue when the alarms went off. The staff were very fast to evacuate the area and I managed to snap a lil pic of smoke coming from just behind the wicker man. For the rest of the day staff were stationed outside of the queue and predictably it didn’t reopen for the rest of the day.
I was actually there on the day and it was running normally but i went to the smiler and then thirteen but around 12 ish, i was walking towards it and there was staff blocking off the entire area. They wouldn’t give us any info to begin with but later, the area opened back up but just not the ride and i asked one of the staff on the queue entrance what had happened and she said that the smoke was caused by a smoke machine that had malfunctioned but as dan stated, no one was injured
I went to Alton towers for the first time in my life and I’ve wanted to go for 10+ years, just for wickerman to set on fire on the first day so I couldn’t ride EVERY ride 😂

All because some idiot had a loose item on them. There's a really good reason you can't have loose objects on coasters, some people really need to pay attention. Caused a problem and spoilt it for many guests and Towers will inevitably get slated. Well done Towers staff. 👍👌

Duno why that would be a bad thing be no air nemesis or oblivion without him the work he's done has literally progressed uk theme parks by pushing for new ideas and working with coaster developers.

I went on wicker man the day before and if broke down for some reason. We didn’t find out why. I had to wait like 45 min for it to get fixed.
I would have thought that the smoke was the smoke effects that are already part of the ride just having a bit of a bug and not stopping lots of smoke
As soon as Drayton said they have changes that now the cycles are back to random
I was there on that day I didn’t open on Sunday either there was scaffolding and lots of coaster people
