    I am impressed by the panel gaps you have achieved given these cars came from the factory with far from perfect panel alignments. If only I kept the HR that I owned many years ago, it is so hard to find a shell worthy of investing this much money on these days.

    Fantastic work. A credit to all your team. They only thing that disappoint s me is seeing the engine bay in gloss and by memory the firewall in colour as when I used to paint them when smashed we could get a perfect factory match engine bay by using black dulon tint and mixing acrylic primer to the black tint . The result being a slightly semi gloss the boot areas were also the same. Anyway thats just me as I like the factory look. I am a retired painter it was called coach painting when I did my apprenticeship at a large inner Sydney Holden dealer smash repair shop. I retired almost 6 years ago after almost 50 years painting.

      Thanks for the feed back. I agree, however I must do as the client instructed. Thank you for sharing your experience here. I’ve been painting cars for 24 years and still learning every day .

    Very nice job Mr Reid. 👍. It looks like the owner is restoring this car back to original, from the colour. Maybe?

    I love old Holden's I've owned at least 1 of every model except FJ or FX, and VF i think its great guys bringing them back to life and its important for our motoring history and Australia's home made from the engine to the body and we did it better than any other country for 70 years
    you've done a killa job except the firewall should be Black as it was from new

      Hay Thanks,
      I just wanted the panels sprayed together with this particular colour . I don’t do all restos this way but for me this would guarantee even coverage .

    Doesn’t the deoxidine affect the epoxy? Or did you strip it off after?

    • @reidcustomgarage
      @reidcustomgarage  4 дня назад +1

      No , in my experience, as long as you do it properly sand the epoxy surface’s , clean the deoxidin residue off and blow dry, then re coat primer immediately you should not have a problem.

      @@reidcustomgarageok cool, thanks for the reply.

    • @ianpassmore1632
      @ianpassmore1632 3 дня назад +1

      I used to also spray the deoxidiser with a bottle and scotch brite then wash off with water and a spray bottle. Then blow dry. Any trace of deoxidiser residue the primer wont adhere to.

    Very emotional for me - I had one identical, was my mothers car and it got taken from me while I was away. Was never found 😞SA plate RER986 if anybody ever sees it but doubt she survived. Really enjoyed this one - Thanks.
