Growing Cyclamen from Seeds

First video on my channel! My experience of growing cyclamen from seeds. Two years after sowing the seeds, I got my first blooms this April!

Congratulations on your success. I just purchased some Cyclamen seeds from a plant with feathered edges, white overall, with a bright red dot at the bottom of the petals. Egad ! 4 years! I had no idea what I was getting into, haha. Thank you for your video.

Thanks! You could get blooms earlier like some others have said they have. This was just my experience. Maybe it also depends on the type of cyclamen I guess. Your future blooms sound lovely! Don't fret and garden on! All the best

@@SikkimeseGardener Thank you much appreciated. Do you happen to know when it is best to sow Cyclamen seed? Summer? But they go dormant in Summer. WInter? But it's cold in Winter. Any idea? I may be in a very different type of climate than you.

Yes but you'll have to cut the tuber with each piece having a growth node. I have never tried that.

Hi there. You can sow the seeds in July-August, maybe Sept Oct if you live in a hot climate. :)

I did all the process with cyclamen seeds one leaf came out but now they seem stop growing i don't know why.

Cyclamen can go dormant when the weather is too hot. Also, make sure they are not under direct sun. :)

Hi Shyam, you can plant the bulb in soil or leaf mould or mix the two. Don't bury the bulb deep, just a light covering of soil. Keep the plant in bright light but not direct sunlight

I use ordinary potting soil with some sand or perlite for drainage and some compost.

Cyclamen does well in rich soil with good drainage and it prefers acidic soil.

They will quite quickly develop tiny bulbs which will grow in size as the plant matures.

You have to make sure to keep it in a dark place for germination. Wrap seeds in tissue or paper towel and spray some water. Then put it in a plastic bag and place it in a dark place.
