I'm playing catch up on videos, but I've really enjoyed the series on this build. Not a kit I'd be willing to undertake at this time, but if and when I do, I'll have a great guide to follow. Well done.
I wasn't really aware of what I was getting into either Jeff! This turned into a 5 month odyssey. There were a few places I got stuck, and at times frustrated, but now that it's done I look back at it and I'm happy I stuck with it. I'm halfway through my Tamiya Spitfire build, and I'm very much looking forward to getting back to something a little more straightforward. Thank you so much for checking it out Jeff!
Amazing job joe from start to finish each build is getting more and more impressive. These planes must have been a joy to see but a terrifying experience to fly in
Very nicely done, Joe! The kit turned out really well, and I like the base you did. It should keep it dust free. I have to say that I don't think I'd like to fly in one of those. It looks real sketchy. The pic with the biplanes on top of the TB-3 blew me away! Crazy! Great series and I look forward to the next.
Thanks Brett! Yeah, I'm not sure I would want to either :) It's pretty crazy all the experiments they tried to do with this including attaching all those planes to it as a "mothership". Appreciate your kind words and support along the way.
Not sure if you'll still respond but do you need all these tools to assemble this kit? I wanted to buy it but thought I wouls need a whole tone of stuff to assemble it.
It all depends on how far you want to take it. I will say it was a challenging kit but I spent a lot of time it and maybe too much in some areas. The main thing I would prepare for is filling some of the gaps. On the bottom, I had to use milliput for a rather large gap, but with some sanding and patience you should be able to get through it. All of the weathering (especially the interior) isn't necessary and you don't have to use an airbrush for the painting. I wanted to weather the top to show the aluminum but you could just paint it the normal color and call it a day. Also it has PE parts so if you want use those you need some type of CA/Super Glue. Also, there are a lot of small parts to manage so take that into account. Hope that helps.
