PayPal: luke.cyrus@gmail.com Thank you! 🙏
Every time I hear this song, it stays in my head for days.
I tried to make up for the missing string section with some E-Bow guitars. Tuning is GBDF♯AD, capo first fret.
Been playing music sense 1967 . Play 6 instruments + . And a music instructor . Played in Big Bands ,Country Bands , Show Bands . Trios . Single act + Played with friends and myself with several national acts . Gave lessons to others who have played with national acts . Done TV , radio concerts .... + To me this is the one single most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard .
Christ, man, I keep coming back to listen to this. Beautiful.
Good call. Christ was a man but God at the same time. So hard to fathom for sure.
@@GTRalso Sure he was, champ.
I just listened to this with headphones and was transported to another dimension of existence.
I just realize this is how I learned about Nick Drake. Thank you sir!
a Nick Drake cover on lapsteel. that is awesome
What you've done with the panned acoustic guitars needs to be mentioned as well, that in itself is really rewarding to listen to!
Thanks! Nylon on the left and steel string on the right.
I'm dumbfounded, spellbound, speechless. This is heavenly and brain-tickling for someone with extreme sound sensitivity
What a lovely interpretation of a song from the great Nick Drake. Heavenly.
Your Arrangement and production are Outstanding. Hauntingly Beautiful. 😎
Nick Drake used so many alternate tunings that he can be difficult to figure out sometimes. Picked this out right away, very well done.
Yes, and I was almost shocked when I found that this one is in standard tuning!
Stunning and hauntingly beautiful treatment of a classic Drake tune. I'm still mesmerized....
Nick Drake's music is haunting special and River Man one his best..Your interpretation capytures the melancholy and is simply gorgeous!
I believe if old Nick was still around, he would love this! :)
Most excellent cover!
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING COVER...YOU CRACKED MY HEAD OPEN AND ALLOWED ME TO TAKE FLIGHT DURING THIS PERFORMANCE! ^..^
Beautiful cover version of a great song. This is why I love RUclips.
One of the most beautiful renditions on this "celestial" song I have ever heard. And of course, only Luke Goetze can do this. For he is innately talented from Heaven for sure. Thanks kind Sir for sharing this beauty with us.
Have it on loop .All day .
Breathtaking. Flawless technique, but one doesn't even care about that as much as the soaring places this takes you.
You had me floating along a slow moving river and dreaming.
I have listened to this countless times. It is so comforting, calming, and peaceful. It's almost putting me to sleep now.
Hauntingly beautiful
at that middle section at like 1:41 on, my heart was in my goddamn throat
So Right
Amazing! I'm going through your videos the all day.
a real poem and 4 minutes of fulness between the disasters. Thank's Luke!
WOW !!! Breathtakingly beautiful
The ten seconds of video after you stop at the end...required for most of us to just sit and shake our heads in disbelief at what we’ve just heard. Superb and very tasteful cover. Well done.
Oh wow, I never noticed that had happened. Thank you very much indeed!
@@lukecyrus namechecked you to @heavypiano on RUclips, does a lovely version on solo piano....do a duet! Would be beautiful I bet!
What a beautiful performance; Brilliant
Apparently, this song was made for steel. Incredible. Thanks.
You have put some really nice renditions but man, this one is beautiful.
Thank You!
@@lukecyrus Thank you Sir ol couple way down in TX
I could listen to this cover a thousand times and never get tired of hearing
Thank you Mr G
You made my day
A pillow full of hauntingly beautiful sounds to rest my tired ears against
This is an instrument mastered, and what an inspiration. Unique. Just fabulous.
Love these recordings. They're just ahhhhhh...Thank you sir.
Wow! I was completely transported somewhere else while listening to this. Amazing.
I got lost listening to this. In a good way. just...compelled to listen for what would come next.
I love the slide twang it brings to a totally non-country song. Opposites do attract. Incredible skills, I pull my hat.
I've had this on repeat for about half an hour now!! I've always liked this song, but it lends it self SO well to this instrument. And you play it beautifully.
I think if Nick Drake were alive to hear this, he would be blown away!
"I think if Nick Drake was (NOT were) alive to hear this, he would be blown away!".
I believe that MOST musicians and many that are not musicians, would be blown away at the talents of Luke Goetze. I have been playing and taught the steel guitar for over 70 yrs; and he is one of THE greatest players I have ever seen.
He has a "touch and tone", that few will ever have. Awesome! It has to be innate, for that can not be learned IHMO.
@@MrPatdeeee Andrew Galloway was correct: Were, not was. It's called the subjunctive tense:expressing a wish or possibility.
@@MrPatdeeee When you correct someone only to find out that you are the one who is wrong...
"Were" is correct.
Reminds me of the English teacher who tried to tell me that "They" is not a personal pronoun for gender neutral context. smdh
Hauntingly beautiful...lyrically executed with finesse.
Your playing and tone are incredible. But the backing tracks are the unsung hero here! Such tasteful strumming and "string" parts. So good!
wonderful version
Gorgeous
Some hints of Jeff Beck's phrasing there ❤️
Deserves more likes - excellent.
Man this lap steel adds so much to this tune! Well done Luke!
Amazing cover. I now routinely play this immediately after the original. They're perfect companions.
absolutely sublime !! ❤️
Man! Mesmerizing! Lovely!
Hi Luke, of all of your songs I have listened to, I like this one the best. More please ...... I'm sending a contribution to the worthy cause.
Magical - thank you!
Put a smile on my face this morning. Thanks Luke.
A killer version, thank you for introducing us to it
Seriously Good for the Soul, much thanks for sharing your wonderful gifts, 👏
Man that’s smoking, eye watering faithful testament to a master.
Excellent job... Very nice
I have been on a Nick Drake binge for the last week. Then I see the masterful cover. You did this song justice. Cheers to you!
Sounds sooo good!
Luke . . .you the man !
Has a certain warmth and mellowness to it . Nicely done .
Stunning! Love to Nick Drake. We miss you, man.
This is simply incredible. I don't even know what to say. Thanks Luke
Awesome brother
Sounds so sweet
Betty came by on her way
Said she had a word to say
About things today
And fallen leaves.
Said she hadn't heard the news
Hadn't had the time to choose
A way to lose
But she believes.
Going to see the river man
Going to tell him all I can
About the plan
For lilac time.
If he tells me all he knows
About the way his river flows
And all night shows
In summertime.
Betty said she prayed today
For the sky to blow away
Or maybe stay
She wasn't sure.
For when she thought of summer rain
Calling for her mind again
She lost the pain
And stayed for more.
Going to see the river man
Going to tell him all I can
About the ban
On feeling free.
If he tells me all he knows
About the way his river flows
I don't suppose
It's meant for me.
Oh, how they come and go
Oh, how they come and go
Great touch, great tone, beautiful!
WOW!!!Thanks!!!
Absolutely love this. My favorite cover was Lee Ritenour. But this. Wow. Phenomenal. I’m guessing you are playing the guitar on the backtrack (?). Well done!
Beautiful. Thank you.
Blown AWAY THISMorn
Wowowow! This really hits the spot. Thanks
Achingly beautiful version of a Nick Drake song ----- even his hand motions add to the 'touch' he has on his instrument
Wow! Masterfully done.
I've never heard anyone own a ND song like this.
watched this again (as i do)....So amazing in every way
Very nice tone and nice sweater too......🎄🎄🎄
Stunning...
Wow, very very cool. Thank you very much.
Question
Your left leg controls a volume pedal I see to swell the volume correct?
What kind of strings do you use?
What’s the tuning ?
Those are high dollar Lap steels I saw online, got an extra one?
I’ll use it
Just can’t get this song out of my head
Thanks for the tune. It’s beautiful
That is really inspiring! Thank You.
what a beautifull sound in that lapsteel, and very well played. Thanks
I am simultaneously humbled and inspired by your performance.
I needed to hear that. Thank you
I got chills all over! This is sooo good! Keep it up!! 🥰💯👏

Tks dear
Thanks!
I never stop loving this, I play it so much ,
I think it’s the most and best representation of a love for nick drake.
I’d love a copy ?
Well Played Sir.
I live just south of Nashville. I wish you could visit sometime . You could play both these classics and your own compositions. The quality of musicians is awesome, but you would be unique in this Guitar town. You could play some outstanding venues and be appreciated by Music lovers and meet some very supportive peers!
Dont let pass the chance Luke ( Or a good time).
Thanks for the tuning.
I’d love to come! Somebody there also owes me a beer!
@@lukecyrus I'm guessing a Rolling Rock then.
That was Incredible!
Ok, this is outstanding! I’m subscribing
You are brilliant, 8 wish to be as good as you oke day, and as for the Duesenberg Fairytale, it's such a beautiful looking and sounding guitar.
Spooky! Ethereal! Thanks Luke.
Truly fantastic
Simply amazing
Why am I only allowed to like this once?
