Haha, thanks ^__^ That was a daft mistake on my part (along with missing that one sniper on the way up), but I'd had so many perfect runs end after that tough fourth boss, I just ran with it. As long as the pointblank is on-target, that first turret will die before it can target you.
Overall I'd say it's a bit tougher, though unfortunately, not always for good reasons - the aim controls are an entire ordeal unto themselves. That said, it's definitely on the easier side by AC standards, and very short, too. I consider the FC version the definitive, with its expanding of the game's best feature - randomly hopping, shooting zako - but the AC's greater sense of ultraviolence and compact runtime make it deceptively addictive, if you can wrangle the controls.
