  • The mess of docks and boats are starting to be cleared out following Hurricane Ian. You can see progress and more open water now. There are still sunk boats we can't identify and can't touch yet until insurance companies figure out who they belong to. But progress is being made! Hurricane Ian recovery will be a long road but with your help and support we'll get there! Thank you so much.

    Being a former marina owner and still affiliated with the boating industry most people have no idea what a massive and expensive undertaking this is. They are doing a great job and looks methodical and there seems to be a plan of attack. What worries me is rebuilding. Now days it can take years to get a new permit to install a dock and meet city and government codes. This is where Desantis will need to jump in to expedite that process. The recreational boating industry in Florida will need all the help they can get. Love to see the progress in a week or so. Blank canvas.

      Panama City/Mexico Beach is still rebuilding from Hurricane Michael and it’s been 4+ years so Florida as a whole is still rebuilding. Just this just adds to it. I mean where you do you start in the recovery of these boats?

    • @CaribbeanCastaways
      @CaribbeanCastaways  Год назад +8

      @@michaelm3355 Of course. We can't move a boat unless the owners insurance company has already inspected it and give approval. Many have been taken away already and we are still working to identify others. Some are sunk and we'll need divers to get boat name and registration. Other boats came from someplace else and finding the owners can be difficult.

Much love to you all, and if we can find a decent RV for sale around here, we’ll come down and help out any way that we can. My son did that type of work. Not to many company’s do that. I think he’s being waisted. Up in the cell towers.

    Who pays for all this work? Do the boat owners who left their boats in harms way have the liability? The docks may not have been damaged if all the boats were removed before the storm.
