This scene was shot at a restaurant called "America". It's no longer there but it used to be on 18th street, right off 5th Avenue on the east side in Manhattan. I don't know what the space is now but I used to go there for lunch or dinner all the time. They had a really delicious turkey and stuffing dish that I loved. I went to college nearby at Baruch. As soon as I saw the outside when watching the movie, I recognized it immediately

I don't think it was about "not seeing what she had to offer..." Bleek couldn't see anything but BLEEK. He was stuck in a tunnel vision of the music, once he lost his ability to play, he could see clearly.
Yeah, that kinda thing tends to happen when you have a jazz composer for a father who created some of the best music and compositions for some of the greatest artists in the biz. ☺🎷🎻
