Please excuse the lengthy comment. First of all, to the video creator: Great Video! You know your trade and that is for sure! For anyone else who reads this, here’s a suggestion: Perhaps there was a clogged port deep within the carburetor that needed some fresh gasoline to sit on for a while, allowing it to break down and dissolve completely, in addition to using carb cleaner. This might sound unusual, but stranger things have happened. As far as I know, the creator of this video has mentioned in the past that he uses 100% gasoline without ethanol, which is what I also use. This could explain how this incident occurred. If 100% ethanol-free gasoline is available at gas stations in your area, purchase it and use it. For your own benefit, avoid using regular 10% ethanol gasoline, as it can significantly shorten the lifespan of your fuel lines. In most cases, you can (but not necessarily recommended) store your small engine equipment with 100% gasoline in it for up to a year without any issues starting it. Two-stroke engines are the easiest to maintain because they require minimal maintenance if you understand how to use and store them properly. They are also significantly cheaper than overpriced and more polluting battery-powered options.

I'm with you with a low price tag but the surprise starting and run happened to me with the wheeled trimmer with the plastic carb. There is always surprises with these things. Happy weekend.

I remember buying one of these with the intention to fix it up and sell it, but ultimately decided it was a lost cause since it had a bent upper shaft. I do love that the engines on these are made by Kioritz, the same engine manufacturer for Echo (and coincidentally, this engine is a 25.4cc just like the Echo SRM-266, and SRM-2620).

One of my mowers did this!! Damn thing!! I pulled the carb off, cleaned it, because it was surging, put it back, still no difference. Next day, I went outside, got the mower out of the shed, checked fuel & oil, started it up, & it ran like it should!! No surging. No blockages in the carb either.

I have the exact same Toro found on the curb over 15 years ago hanging in the garage ever since I got it running but mine has the blower attachment but pretty sure you can use other brands or attachments as well

The same thing happened to me with an Echo trimmer, I wasn't run for a long time, I put fresh fuel in it and started it, it wouldn't stay running. The next day I was going to work on it, I tried starting it and to my surprise it stayed running. I believe the fresh fuel dissolved some old gummy fuel..

Yep for sure and as long as the seller is a honest one as that means they have nothing to hide like a scammer would be doing so etc from my view.

I'm not familiar with this model but I have 2 of the 25.4cc models from Toro both with the single barrel carbs and I have to say I really like them.
Run ethanol free gas in them and they are pretty much hassle free and have plenty of power.
Sure they could use a better air filter but they work just fine with the simple foam filter provided.
You'd be hard pressed to find a home owner that needs more.
Bang for the buck I think these were some of the best. (too bad they went all electric)
    Just my opinion.

I just picked up a Poulan Pro PBV 200 LE hand held leaf blower. I have never owned a gas powered hand held leaf blower, and I have no idea what they go for. How much would you sell something like this for this time of year? The previous owner said it needed a carb, so I kinda need to know how deep I can get into it and still make something on it.

So with your help I've fixed and sold a lot of two stroke equipment! The weirdest thing I've seen is that on quite a few of them I've had to spray carb cleaner in them to get running after the repair but after that they ran great! Have you seen that before? (And btw they all had primer bulbs)

You could make do a lawnmower and edger combo sale and sell it that way. I’m sure it would sell at the start of the season

Hey bro what's up? I always run my equipment dry before storing them away until they are ready to be used again.

How much do you sell trimmers for?

    • @HomeGaragechannel
      @HomeGaragechannel  2 дня назад +3

not much and it depends on the trimmer, box store brands only go for $20-25 while mid brands are $40. Of course Stihl and Echos go for much more because I'd rather keep them anyway and someone would really want them to buy them off from me, so $100+

I use the quickest method for dealing with clogged spark arresters. I just throw them in the trash, lol.

Oh I’ve clogged a flame arrester screen a good bit more than that… somehow. 😂

Thwt seems to be the thing with these single adjustment carbs, they one day work and the next dont.

I think that it wouldn't start either because it was flooded or like my dads Honda lawnmower if it gets washed then it won't start until it dries out !

interesting issue, I'll have to try and start a mower while it's wet just to see that problem first hand.

The gasket you made probably swelled up with fuel passing by it. Sealing any vacuum leaks. I would buy anything Toro in a minute.

I would sale for about$60.00 bucks but I don’t know how much time and labor you got in it. Either way you should be able to make a profit 😅

I would sell it under 60$ due to that it’s not a commercial grade trimmer
