Applying a waterproof membrane as a base coat of a waterproof substance that is usually chose explicitly because it is permanently waterproof (and beautiful)... that seems redundant, doesn't it?
Trying to provide information to our builder so he's comfortable with this type of shower. His concerns are framing & plumbing depths. Does the framing need to be altered or do any changes need made to plumbing?

Would a flat top 1/8" v notch work for the key coat? Thanks so much for the video
Tyler, yes. We used one like this on a recent project. Works fine. Just keep the thickness of the product consistently thick.
Do you use the mesh tape or do anything different for inside corners?
