- This is old news by now, but I was just able to find the updated Kylo Ren action figure from Hasbro's Star Wars: The Force Awakens Black Series. I knew what I was in for, but I didn't think I'd like the shorter robes and added texture as much as I do.

Ok I got to give Hasbro some props for recognizing where improvements could be made and making them, cool video man I had no idea they were improving on already released figures
+Erndaworms GamingAndToys Yeah, it's kind of surprising, but I like it. Well, except for spending more money on figures I already have. I hate myself.
Love the newer Kylo. Mine has gloss black covering his entire helmet though. Wish he came with another left hand, but I can't complain.
The lack of the gloss being all over the helmet has been a problem for years with the Vader's.
I'm much preferring the Kylo figure from Wave 3. I do love the arm details etc. The helmet from the first one might be a bit closer to how it was in the film, but it's not a deal breaker.
I think I have some sort of combination of the two. I have the old scarf and helmet, but the new robes, saber, and elbow disk.
+Sam Duff I think there is a third version, exactly as you describe. It's the smooth ones that are shipping now, and the textured scarf is mixed in too. Just not as much. I wasn't sure though and didn't want to say that in the video.
I got my first black series figure ever today and it was the wave 3 Kylo Ren with the textured scarf, i love it I never had a StarWars figure as good as it.
Just saw the movie @ the theater for the 4th time last night.
Can NOT get enough of this damned movie lol. I've never been swept away so much by a film before...I'm developing a bit of an addiction on picking up toys and merchandise for the movie too.
I really like my black series star killer base Ren. Glad I was able to find one without issue at my local kmart :)
I really like how they're improving the figures like this though.
+twitchster77 I've been telling myself that I need to get back to the theater but I haven'r made it yet. Kicking myself. And my Kmart went away a long time ago. Hate that for stuff like this.
After I found the better one I ended up taking the robe completely off the force Friday one, to give him a robe and hood less look, it came out great because there is a full "suit" molded under the robe
+Star Wars and More Reviews I've seen that, and I plan on using one robe on my Figuarts and look forward to having a more training session type Ren with the leftovers.
My starkiller base version is on the way, I can't wait to put it on my display :P
+AlphaMunky I already have 3 Black Series in the house, have the S.H. Figuarts, and need another short robe Ren to fix up my Figuarts, waiting to pre-order the model kit, and I'm STILL considering tracking down the Starkiller base Kylo. It's a sickness.
+The Fwoosh I'd recommend not to bother, as you've already got a number of them. But I understand, the subtle differences and improvements attract us. It's either a strategy or they are genuinely improving as they go along. I personally bought the starkiller version for the correct lightsabers, and the paint on the boots. It just looked to ocool to ditch :)
Great comparison. It is great that fans are getting a better version of the Force Friday figures, but in the same breath I feel bad for anyone who paid full price on an inferior product.
+rektangular I feel the same, especially when it comes to Rey and BB-8, but going by some of the comments here I think it's cool to have several different options for Kylo Ren. Some people prefer the longer robes, some the short, same with the textured and untextured scarf. But yeah, still have to buy another to get the best version.

I had to purchase a kylo ren online I just started collecting Star Wars and was worried about having a bootleg but now I'm confident that I have a wave three kylo ren. It's going to be hard finding Poe chewbacca and Han. I plan on getting all figures of chirrut I'm sure he's a favorite and also k2so. I believe saw and chirrut were force sensitive but never trained. I can't wait to see rogue one again in theaters it's a lot better than the force awakens. Granted I love all of the characters in that one. I really want a black series Luke and meet mark hamill even if it's just an awkward stare down because of my anxiety.
From what I'm seeing, Han is pretty expensive to grab now, but rumor has it that he'll be coming later this year along with some other early figures. Give it a few weeks for Toy Fair and see what's coming before dropping any eBay money.

is a Jango fett review coming out by any chance? he looks amazing in the armor, like they just shrunk real jango!

Odd that they didn't just include the Starkiller Base Kylo's accurate Junk Saber with wave 3.

I got mine recently, not on force friday, and it has all the "improvements" you listed...except the scarf is smooth? the robe fits nice, the elbow discs are detailed on the front, the lightsaber has the red wire...

interestingly enough my Force Friday Ren has the painted in wire on the saber, as well as the texture on the joint. odd variations.

I'm so confused...after watching your review I was like okay.. I gotta get the wave 3 one, the new one. So I got it and took him out and everything is accurate except the textured scarf...mine doesn't have that
+Pate Leigh I believe there is a third variation that has all of the improvements except for the scarf. I think they may be shipping together. No idea why Hasbro mixed and matched them, maybe giving people a choice? No idea.
I feel like these force Friday ones will be more "rare" in the coming years. So I'm keeping them sealed lol

***** Agreed. I'm excited about the model, mostly because it's a model, but I don't think it will beat the Figuarts with a cloth robe. I haven't actually done that yet but in pics it looks great.
If i was doing the robe switch onto the SHF Kylo, which Black series Kylo should i go with; wave 1 or 3? On one hand, I won't have to cut the robe shorter with the wave 3 one, but I'd be afraid that the hood would look too small.
+CCScorseseVideos I think I'm going with the Wave 3 Kylo for the switch. I'm not sure if the hood is smaller or it's just tucked into the scarf more.

Can someone help me? I Buy a kylo Ren without a box ando the mine is similar yo these but theres like white in their boots and white points below the dress and its not the starkiller base version

She is in wave 5. Some people are starting to find her at Walmart. We will see soon
