Thanks for sharing! I’ve had some similar experiences too (1) bought wooden placemats but actually it’s just so much easier to clean the dining table without them. So the placemats now come out only for special occasions/when guests come by (2) bought foldable 1-seater paper stools. Not easy to move around once unfolded. They are fine though for when additional seats are occasionally needed at the dining table. (3) Exact same experience with diatomite floor mats - switched to chenille bathroom mats with rubber backing. Effective and easy to clean - just toss into washing machine weekly with rugs/rags at delicate/gentle wash cycle. (4) Also faced flaking on my black kitchen tap which at this time can still be covered somewhat with black paint. It’s a matter of time though before this won’t be enough. Fortunately, it is the only black one in my house 😅😅
Haha aw man! Totally feel your pains on all four points, but I guess we just had to learn it the hard way to have learnt that those items weren’t as useful as we thought it will be. 🥲 sometimes the “normal/old school” method still works the best
Your chair part so funny
I had the same issue with the diatomite mat, using the sandpaper and all didn't really help and was so troublesome to do it. But I went to get those heavy duty 3M scouring pad and ran the mat under water while scrubbing it. I added some hand soap too. Takes about a min to scrub the entire surface twice. After drying it, it's very usable again. ofc not as good as when I first got it but at least it's not totally useless. And each scouring pad can use multiple times so it's not expensive to maintain also.

Use a Mr DIY spray black paint $3.90 on the black chips on shower n tap.

Best taps is not chrome or black, but stainless steel

@@HowNowTaobao Anyway don’t lose heart. Those taps made in China won’t last long, probably 5 years and it will go kaput. Just tahan a bit until it kaput lor 😊

The diatomite mat is one of the best buy. I place it not only at toilet doors, but one underneath tabletop dish rack and 2 big ones under kitchen sink to absorb water droplet if my kitchen sink condenses in the cabinet.

We can't say for sure regarding the soft kind because we've not gotten it! But yes, the stone kind didn't work well for us in the long run.

Can I check the black tap and shower. Is it the so called nano coating? Because I am actually looking at this 纳米枪黑 sink but worry that it might have the same problem as yours.
Hi JJ! Hmm we’re not sure if it’s supposed to be nano coating, it wasn’t something we looked out for but I don’t think our taps are nano coated. Maybe you could ask the sellers whether this peeling issue will happen as a guarantee!

That bathroom mat still ok actually. For my issue, I will start buying it after 1 year as it began to lose its effectiveness despite I sun it outside every 2 weeks.
Some item from taobao will only last after 1 year but heart not too painful because some are really cheaper.
Haha same experience! Quite sad that despite following the “cleaning up” instructions, the effectiveness wasn’t restored.
Feel a bit of a heart pain like you said, to have wasted the buy 😢 we upcycled it by donating it to our church garden to put flower pots etc 😂 at least got 2nd lease of life

Thanks for sharing. It baffles me why people buy a half million dollar home only to install cheap poorly made stuff from Taobao. Invest in the Made in Germany or MIJ stuff. It will last a decade at min
Hey there, thanks for sharing your thoughts! I hear you and agree that most times, what you pay is what you get. Cheap price tag usually equates to lousier quality products.
But I think the beauty about Taobao is that some of these sellers are also the OEM of companies that mark up the furnitures in exchange for proper QC and warranty. So instead of paying a hefty price tag for high quality and long lasting products, taobao gives an option of a cheaper price tag with above average quality, but in exchange we bear the risks of the QC.
Hope this helps provide you with a better understanding of why some of us choose this option :)
made in China and assembled in Germany is more like it 👀 very few affordable items are made in Germany nowadays.
