    To the lady in purple,
    That beautiful dog is no toy for you to drag around. I know that the dog it's yours and maybe it has a happy life. However, it looks tortured. You almost strangle it when you are walking with it.
    You have an amazing dog and it deserves a good life
    A concerned owner of a Maltese.

      @@fluffyclouds4789 1) no, shows do not make that mandatory, if that ever happens, that was the groomer’s decision. I have literally never heard of it ever while showing dogs
      2) they have this powder that is kind of like a dog make up that is applied with a brush. Never bleach

    The Maltese look so beautiful, however, as a maltese owner, I wouldn't enter my baby in a dog show. The weather here is too hot so she can't have a long coat. I'd rather have a healthy and comfortable baby. Than trying to make her look perfect. Plus the owners, especially the lady in purple, carries her poor dog in a way that I'd never carry mine!

    I love Maltese, used to liked this contest but now I don't, I don't really think those dogs enjoy themselves that much even being treated like royalty. Dogs are not as complicated as us.
    So bad now I have got not enough time for grooming my Maltese to that extend.

    • @akabga
      @akabga 4 года назад

      SakumaRyuichiNG I think the dogs absolutely love to be doted on, and pranced around like royalty!
      Let me find a video for you to watch. I'll post the time signature of when the little baby wins.
      She knows she won as soon as the judge signals in her direction, and jumps all over the place! It's the most adorable thing I've ever seen!
      Enjoy!

    A harness and not a choke leash should be used for small dogs like Malteses right? I agree with one commenter in this video about how these dogs won't really be enjoying this pompous blah...

    Can anyone suggest on how to make a maltese coat like those very silky and smooth, mine has a dry and coarse hair, I blower, and used high end products like pure paws and vellus.. Idk what I'm missing, i love my dog but if there's a room for improvement I would love to hear any tips ty

    • @akabga
      @akabga 4 года назад +1

      Lavz _Venice - I don't know what you're using, but I learned that products with protein can be EXTREMELY drying which will make their coat brittle and break short. Try using the protein only a few times a year.
      Also, be sure to keep their coat wrapped in tissue paper. Look up videos or blogs on how to do that.
      If the coat is so badly damaged, you may need to consider giving your pooch a good cut to get the damaged coat off and start over.
      Also, diet. Make sure you're dog is eating a good dog food. My breeder recommends Cesar and Health Advantage. I've heard to stay away from chicken because it stains their tears more (thougg, I have not tested this theory), and Nutri-Cal everyday as a supplement. Keep your pup hydrated with sugar-free electrolyte packets.
      Also, I use watered down hypoallergenic-free, tear-free, scentless baby shampoo on my maltese, because I found the dog shampoos for white coated dogs to be super harsh on my dog's skin and they wouldn't get the stains out (my maltese has a bad habit of jumping on his hind legs after he poops on his puppy pad because he knows he pooped in the right place. He is very pleased with himself and is looking for praise. 🤣😐) but, HIS COAT IS PERFECTLY WHITE with the watered down baby shampoo, AND it's way gentler on his skin, AND it's way less expensive. This works so well, I don't need the specially formulated maltese tear stain remover, either.
      Before bathtime, I just carefully brush him thoroughly - his face, paws, underside, back side, neck area, ears, nose and eye areas - before his bath. First, use a wide-ish toothed comb, then go back over with a fine comb to remove any debris, especially any buildup around the eyes. Use stainless steel. Plastic is too harsh. Don't use those paddle brushes with kinked bristles. Those are for breeds that shed and will break you maltese hair.
      Wash and rinse twice with a hand sprayer sink attachment that you can find on Amazon for about $10. Change the water between rinses because you don't want your puppy's paws and backside to be sitting in gross water. I find even a bit of residue will leave a shade 9f stain. Message around the nose area being extra careful not to get it in his eyes. I make my maltese face me. I gently hold his ears while I message his nose with my thumbs. After thoroughly rinsing (which is important, because soap residue is drying), I use a conditioner and rinse again with fresh water.
      Also, I have a floor heater running to keep the bathroom warm.
      Speaking of temperature, the water temperature is really important. If it's even a bit too warm, it will dry your dog's hair and skin. But, the water has to be warm enough or else you could get your puppy sick!
      If you live in a dry area, consider running a room humidifier at least once a day.
      Oh, and if you live in a hot, sunshiny area, be sure his skin and coat are not getting sunburned. This will definitely ruin a maltese coat.
      And, by the way, I know I keep saying 'coat', but maltese technically have hair, not fur. So 'coat' is an incorrect term.

      Adam ohhh.. I see.. Noted! Thanks. I will always check that out. For now I've decided to get her a puppy cut (way better she looks so cute) while still figuring out ways to improve the hair, I think it's bec on her genes 🤷🏻‍♀️ probably. She doesn't have that quality hair.

    I've seen how they keep their eyes so white. They use a "bleach" that they use a toothbrush to scrub into their eyes. Very painful. I mean how would they like it if someone did that to them. Very cruel. I don't know how they keep the rest of them clean. I have a Maltese. I keep his hair very short. He gets food around his mouth and poop around his but if not trimmed very short. So how do they do it? It's not good to bathe them everyday.

      They actually sell pigment, kinda like dog makeup I guess, that makes noses look darker and there’s a product that’ll conceal tear stains as well. I don’t know if they’re illegal in this higher echelon of dog show but I know they exist.
      Tear stains are sometimes more visible in Maltese for a few reasons - one, their fur is so white; two, they can be prone to their eyelids rolling inwards (entropion); three, the actual shape of their tear ducts; four, the longer hair holds more of the tear-duct fluid, which contains porphyrin and is actually colored brown itself from a high iron content. In my experience, the best way to care for it is to wipe your dog’s face with a warm compress once or twice daily, keep his hair trimmed, use metal food and water bowls to prevent buildup of bacteria, and stay on top of allergies if your dog is prone to them. One of mine has entropion and _wicked_ eye allergies, and as long as I wipe his face down once a day and stay on top of his allergy meds (which includes this eyedrop salve thing his vet gave me), his tear stains, while present, stay manageable enough for me to eliminate them with an occasional trim.

      My maltese runs away if I pull out a brush or if I dare to bathe her so I keep her fur very short and I prefer it that way I like her looking like a dog instead of a mop
