As a guy that lives in BC, if Dan Hurd ever wrote a book about places that people can go and just pan without claims on their own or places to go look for gems, or even how to best find info for claims or info that is relevant, well I would pay top dollar to read his book.
You taught my wife years ago at mount boucherie, she recognized your voice while watching your video she says HI!!! (Katie Bumstead) , these videos seriously makes me want to try and get my hand on a claim myself!! Love wat hing your videos Dan thank you for your work making these videos to enjoy them!!
Who would watch Dan pan an entire pan from start to finish without any speeding up like I would? I love hearing the sound of the river and the sloshing of the pan. It's so relaxing!
17:47 what is the projection image on the mountain above you dan ? Looks like a creepy ufo or orb but interestingly almost looks like a Black Sun logo. Surely it can't be a sun beam or something? Any scientists in here
Just watching your Arkansas trip. I'm from Arkansas and am just starting to metal detecting. Artifacts have been my thing till now. Keep doing a great job.
By my math, you actually found $1.31 as opposed to $1.30 .... Plus a 1.3gm, Heart-Shaped Nugget which is a beauty. The shape alone adds value. WTG. It was hard earned but you also did your claim and most importantly, the environment a huge service. Thanks for that.
Every time you pan I have noticed you taking the time to look at the beautiful scenery. It's easy to get lost in the work of finding gold but so important to realize that's not what truly matters.
dan that's one of the reasons why i love your vids for you try to be as eco-friendly as possible. like making it as back to nature had it before you or with your gold detector making a 1 foot sized hole vs dozens of foot size holes for the same amount of gold
As a fellow BC resident I really enjoy watching your videos because it brings me back to travelling around the province and enjoying the natural beauty we are blessed to have. The fact that you are ecologically minded is a bonus, and you bring fun an education along for the ride. Thank you for your content as always , & definitely bring Ricky along more if you can ☺️🖤✨🖖🏻
Thanks, Dan, for taking us along. I got long covii and still can't maneuver in that kind of terrain. I moved to Florida a couple of years ago and today I found a tub full of black sand and big garnets in my container that I never processed from up North. Yippee!!!

Hey dan... There's a winch system that is really kool... It works with a power drill... Simple but works well for boulders... I have seen it on another prospecting channel
Hey Dan ,burn the carpet in a metal pan or cast iron skillet to recover maybe a little gold like George, Buzzard,Massie,in Alaska! Enjoy your videos, put crazy Paulie in more ,fun times!
I'm so thankful there are people like you who are thoughtful and ecologically-minded. Your willingness and dedication to restoring a natural space I'm sure inspires many! As an ecologist (whose passion is conservation and restoration along the entire rocky mountain range and the sagebrush steppe), my heart is warmed by your care for the environment. You're putting in souch effort when I think a lot of people would just leave that sluice there. You're awesome!!!
@@PausePlaySoundTherapy420 your small back and forth quips with Dan were fun. Agreed you should collab again. I'm definitely checking out your channel now
Must say that I am pretty happy that there were no massive heaps of nuggets in the sluice. It shows that in addition to it being illegal, it is not worth it.
Yeah it may not get much action now, but who knows how much the river has changed since it was installed. That's a lot of effort, I assume they knew it would be worth it.
Dan, asking you a question. I am a Rockhound from years ago with my mother and father. Question is, have you ever heard of routilated Topaz? I have a very interesting gem I found in Colorado back in the 70's and it looks very much like a Topaz but it has striations in it and I can't find any information on routilated Topaz. It is quit large and has very good clarity. I would like to send you a picture of it.
I'm not Dan, but it seems that "rutile/rutilated topaz" doesn't actually contain rutile, like rutilated quartz does, but instead limonite? Try using your favourite search engine to look up "rutile topaz" or "rutilated topaz", and for a Gemological Institute of America report about the stones, try searching for "gia rutilated topaz misnomer".
"OH a nickel! Plus a penny and the quarter we found earlier, making money today!!" "Well and the nugget from earlier that's probably a hundred worth." The change in tone had me cracking up.
Thanks Dan for cleaning up others"trash" . That's a cool nugget, it's good you got something for your efforts. You've got some great friends to assist you. I love your content. You've earned my subscription many times over.
Dan thank you for sharing your adventures! I like the idea that you hire local people to help you. When I was a kid I did odd jobs and I was hired by an older man to do yard work. The time I spent with him helped shape me as much as my parents and school. I would not trade that hard work for any amount of money in the world. It was like being with a funny grandparent every weekend for 3 or more years. That being said, Rick is funny and adds to your video as well. Keep it up!
Awe thanks! Funny Dan and I are only 5 years apart 😂 we both old! Hahahaha but yes I loved working for my neighbor as a kid, I learned so much from that man! And Dan as well, very educational day for the both of us
Going to school for Applied geomatics. Love these videos, im a new prospector but so far of the dozen places I sampled all give gold, seem to be a natural, I like to give you some of this credit dan, I've watched so many of your videos and you make the subject very interesting, more so than it already is. Thank you.
Dan, I need to know if you have ever felt strange while you were in the wilderness, doing what you do....sort of like a feeling of being watched? I am a follower of bigfoot researchers and have photographed huge 14 inch footprints here in Wisconsin.
I'm just waiting for Yosemite Sam to come out of the mountains "I'm, Chillicothe Sam, the roughest, toughest, rootinest, shootinest claim-jumper that ever jumped a claim, and I'm-a takin' over your claim! So get-a goin' a-fore I puncture your hide." Cheers for the video. 🍻

Hi Katie
Thank you Dan and help
You left Rick alone with the nugget box. You brave. I’d be swinging my metal detector by his pockets on accident just to check 🤣
Rick is the man!
Woot woot! 😝

good to see Dan, thanks.

More cleaned up and organised?
Bit of a mess, I reckon!

I've never panned a single nugget in my life. That sound of it hitting the pan still makes me smile though.
The sound of gold hitting a gold pan sounds greater when it is your pan!

Dan Hurd just wanted to thank you for unlocking my passion for gold prospecting. You caused me to move to Colorado in search of adventure.
We certainly don't want any "little tiny fly poops". :-) Thanks for the great video.
The scenery is worth the watching and cleaning up the the area is very much worth the effort. Thank you for sharing.

I did very well, and an ocean picture stone chunk too! 😮
This was one of your best videos, in fact it was "Grate" ! lol
Great video Dan. The lengths old timers went to get gold is nuts. Especially considering the price of gold then compared to now.
I wasn't all that excited when you found that quarter, but when you found the loonie, I knew we were talking real bank 😂

you can tell dan is enjoying the nature.
Have you told the story of how you got into panning for gold? I feel like it would resonate with peopl
His father who is still with him occasionally appears took him as a child and I think in his 30s he took it up again to get back in shape he is great
