Lyrics:
I went to the crossroad, fell down on my knees
I went to the crossroad, fell down on my knees
Asked the Lord above, "Have mercy, save poor Bob if you please"
Mmmm, standin' at the crossroad, I tried to flag a ride
Standin' at the crossroad, I tried to flag a ride
Didn't nobody seem to know me, everybody pass me by
Mmmm, the sun goin' down boy, dark goin' catch me here
Oooo ooee eeee, boy dark goin' catch me here
I haven't got no lovin' sweet woman that love and feel my care
You can run, you can run, tell my friend boy Willie Brown
You can run, tell my friend boy Willie Brown
Lord that I'm standing at the crossroad, babe
I believe I'm sinkin' down

I like how Robert Johnson has his own VEVO...
Vercingétorix yup. now waiting for "VivaldiVevo".
I actually don't believe he sold his soul to the devil. This is just a story made up by Son House.
@@chickennugget1289 the fact that he mastered the guitar in a ridiculously short amount if time and had a technique ages ahead of anyone else so id say he sold his soul
@@VMan29397 It was probably a gift from God
@@chrisvela4860 A gift from God? Robert sang about the devil, beating up the women he slept with and even admitted to selling his soul
Imagine that if this guy was never born, we would have never heard of something called rock and roll, the legend and the father of the Delta blues
I think ur wrong. Rock and roll were always to come out, it came from Blues and was destined to happen. That is my 5 cents. Any deal with "The Man in Charge" as Bob Dylan said- will end in eternal regret and pain
Ahhhh lovely to see Mr Johnson got his wish... he did indeed become the greatest blues player of all time! He should have asked for the wealth that could have came with it 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Anyone else? Wish wisely
I kind of want to agree, but I think he saw what he did as hiw own form of wealth to perform music for others. It's just an odd assumption on my part
Wealthy men are erased from history every day. World changers, like Robert Johnson, will remain alive through name and cultural significance until the end of time. Wish innovatively.
Would be great without the sound effects in the video.
Yes, pretty annoying
Greatest guitarist of all time!!!
"No Robert Johnson, No Rock N' Roll"
"No Robert Johnson, No Rock N' Roll" No. The rock and roll sound ("Rock The Joint" Jimmy Preston 1949, "Rock That Boogie" Jimmy Smith 1949, "Boogie At Midnight" Roy Brown 1949, "Hole In The Wall" Albennie Jones 1949, etc.) was invented by jump blues musicians who generally had little interest in acoustic guitarists whose records hadn't sold well about a decade earlier.
Joseph Scott This is where "didn't read lol" comes in handy.
True History
Lol, who told you that?
JawJX Rock and roll would still be hear, but the blues wouldn't be the same
This is the alternate take that Robert Johnson did. He recorded two versions of the crossroad blues, this is the less known alternate take.
It is truly wonderful to be able to listen to the blue, especially coming from the heart of the blues
Without Robert Johnson we would not have awesome rock-and-roll superstars.
He may have lived in Chicago but he was born in and grew up in Mississippi decades before the Civil Rights Era.
They didn't make music videos then, and we might never know for sure how he got to playing such awesome chords.
He cultural appropriated poor white people's language and music.
Bullshit
he sold his soul to the devil 😂
People, the blues came from the black church, it may not have always been Robert, but there were people b4 him that went unheard of, but it’s always been there
@@dollyking6927a lot of black churches/ churches in general denounced the blues as the devils music
Interesting thing I noticed in my research is that in one video on here of Son House talking about Robert, he says that RJ couldn't play worth spit until he went to Arkansas for about 6-9 months, and when he came back he could play his ass off. However, in the book "Deep Blues" by Robert Palmer, it's written that RJ actually returned home to Hazlehurst in south MS (not Arkansas) during that period of time, married an older woman and took guitar lessons under Ike Zinneman (so there was no devil).
Or...ike did the deed
Robert Johnson o rei do blues raíz diabólico 🤘🏾👹🎩⭐🌙🥃🚬🎸🎤🪱🕯️☠️
Robert met Ike Zimmerman not the Devil, Ike was a gifted guitarist by all accounts & took Robert under his wing for a year that's where his 'overnight' improvement came from.. the devil myth sure is a good story though.
Awesome music, I can't believe that the Blues is the great granddaddy to friggin' Thrash Metal
Except to understand it, you need to have lived throught the hardship of being black in the 1930s deep south and systemic racism being the norm. Calling this "Devil's music" reinforces the racist views on black men putting them to blame for "inventing it".
Black Lives Matter!
So the Devil created rock'n'roll after all
Timolainen Thanks Devil
Timolainen a black man did
TRUTH SEAKER yeah you're right
King Joash how so. Explain please
Timolainen technically yes he did
Sin Robert Johnson no hubiera existido el rock
He just worked and worked and worked to perfect his craft.
That's the story of big business, No matter the scale ⚖️

I love those old masters of music.Too bad their heirs don't get the royalities they deserved.
Hello Tina how are you doing hope you’re having a great time with your family may God bless you and your family

When you add mysticism to your character, it attracts an audience.
Imagine you’re living in small town where nothing exciting ever goes down.
So the common folk create these tales to add a little “magic” into their lives.
The reality is there’s was probably a lot of hard work and dedication to his craft that nobody saw.
Most common people never pay attention to hard work. They only care about the results.
So they create these tales or say things like “He got lucky”
There is no luck and there is no shortcuts in life. Behind every great artist is endless hours of practice.
I agree 100% with your comment.
Idk it seems like this guy def sold his souls which is why he died at 27
@@Lucaduka77 When you’re good at what you do, you attract all sorts of attention both good and bad.
I’m no RJ nor am I a legend but…
I once ran into an old highschool Friend at a party. I walked up and talked to her and later in the night her boyfriend tried to stab me with a pocket knife when she wasn’t around.
supernatural
it was crowley
Ahhhhhhh re loco !!! de ahi vengo

Yes he did
No, he didn't
I LOVE this video, Robert Johnson is the god of Guitar
Not much else to say about the gem other than thanks for sharing this immortal tune! Strum on in heaven ol RJ!💙
So, so good! Read somewhere that they sped up this recording before they released it in the 30's to make it sound like he was faster than he actually was.. true or not, what a guitar player!
smart bro
smart bro
Maybe, but I doubt it. Then his voice wouldn't sound right. The whole thing wouldn't sound right. Not sure if they had the technology to do over dubs. Like if they played the sped up guitar part and then had him sing over the faster guitar part. I think about all they could do back then was record the whole thing in one take. 🤷♂
Yeah definitely not probably@@28russ
The man.. and purity at it's best..lyrically genious
Johnson foi inspiração para grandes músicos!!
Epic. he's a legend

the very first blues album I ever bought in 1968. after I'd heard this, I sold my cream album to a school friend.
this is the best blues-tune ever recorded and a great animation movie too!
It’s him selling his sole it’s right infront of you
@@michaeljr8615 thats why its called the devils blues. Blues Is dark. Not friendly.
@@michaeljr8615 it should be spelled "soul" not sole. Mississippi people are not too educated.

Such a misunderstood Legend. He went to the crossroads (fork in the road) and made a deal with the devil inside him.
Шкода що так мало пожив, легенда..
Imagine if you can find his signature on a record or something priceless?

Awesome!
A huge thank you to Paterson Joseph's character on _Timeless_ for introducing me and educating me about this absolute legend of a musician
I knew about him and the legend, but not that he actually wrote this song telling of the supposed deal he made. He was awesome!

Father of Rock and Roll.
awsome!
Thank You Here From Brasil 🇧🇷😎👍
The Johnson song,"sweet home Chicago"(recorded 1936), was covered by the good old blues brothers boys band in the movie The Blues Brothers.
The real genius was his transforming himself (with excellent mentor/tutoring) over the course of 16mo (give or take a few).
Tenho em vinil triplo essa relíquia.
Great job Chris!

Foolish mortals no dEvil no rock and or roll!
Pretty Reckless will probably turn some younger fans onto Robert's legend soon.
I was very young when I first heard this song with my dad on a Sunday
Right on man. It hurts to see this beautiful song spoilt. Next step, dubstep remix.
Canción maldita 😮
Great old blues!
