I wonder if for such a process acrylic paint would be more suitable since an heavy used of acrylic mediums at the base is already there. I have done similar kind of effects with acrylics and worked quite well.
Since I am a learner can you tell me how was the texture created on the wall and the shore in the first place ??? adding darker values later is understood but how were textures created ... Please dont mind my lack of knowledge but your technique is too good... Colonel Kanwar.... India

I thought you shouldn't use acrylic over oil....unless the painting is acrylic? Maybe I missed something here.
So if i understood well, he created an acrilyc base and the used oil for texture and glaze, Is It?
hello from Quebc!!
How did he do the original texture before the glaze

He used acrylic gel medium first to get the texture.
Hi from New Zealand
can you use oil paint over this texture???
That's what he did. He is using oil paint over the acrylic texture of the gel mediums.
Very interesting demo. Would this be considered a mixed media painting?
Good question. That's what I always hear and potential "downside" to using an acrylic underpainting.
