The Light in the Piazza - Samantha H. Lucas

Adam Guettel (1964-present) is an American composer-lyricist of musical theater and opera. Raised on the Upper Westside of New York City, he performed as a boy soprano soloist in operas including Pellèas et Mèlisande and The Magic Flute. He is best known for the musical The Light in the Piazza. The Light in the Piazza opened on April 18, 2005, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater in Lincoln Center.
“The Light in the Piazza” takes place in act two after Margaret, a protective mother, slaps her daughter Clara across the face. Clara reacts by channeling her feelings into song and her love for Fabrizio.
