There is no minimum so long as you can take an accurate reading. If you are taking a single reading and not part of a loop you should always work equal to or less than your backsight distance. If its part of a level loop, you should aim to be equal to your backsight distance. A 24x power level is often good from 150-200 feet at a maximum (including reading the thousandths) and a 32x power level can often sight out to about 250’ comfortably. It’s a very large price difference between 24x and 32x for only 50-100 more feet of coverage, you might find good planning and a 24x level are all you need for most tasks.
You don’t have t place your level on line or in between your two observations points, just equal distance from both. That means you could back up until you were an equal distance from each point but far enough away for a good reading. If you are forced to take a close reading, you can use the hard sight to determine what foot you are working in, and then focus through the level for your tenths, hundredths and thousandths.
hi can u please do a video on how to level prism on tripod both circular and plate bubble, and also explain force centring/ leap frogging in traverse. thanks :)
Jimmy, have you watched the videos on total station and level setup? They go over each type of leveling principle. There is definitely a traverse video on its way!
I also work in the personal and professional development fields, including work in conjugation with a relationship therapist. That’s a very different training course than this one 😇
your videos are AWESOME very detailed and easy to follow thank you.
I love ur guys videos! I've trained multiple party chiefs with them lol.
I was always taught that field notes should just be unadulterated "raw data." Very nice break down of adjustments, though.
Sir what is the minimum and maximum length between Auto Level to reading staff
