I have an 05 Yukon Xl with the 5.3L that I bought a year ago with only 107k miles! I put a torsion key lift about 2.5 inches with Rancho shocks all around on 33" tires. I love these trucks, and you are correct they are damn near bulletproof and probably the most reliable generation that GM built.
Still daily drive my 2002 Chevrolet Suburban with 216,000 miles from Texas AC, Heater and everything still works the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned better than a new car still take it out of town every other weekend never left me stranded always makes it back home these vehicles are really built to last, the best generation vehicle GM made
Saying the 5.3/6.0 is the greatest engine ever is not crazy. I think we need to consider performance as well as reliability. So any 4 cylinders are out in my opinion. Plus no timing belt. So most old Toyota engines are out too. This is just change the oil and it’ll run forever.
I purposefully chose a 9th generation Suburban. I'm very happy with my 2005 Suboverland. I just don't want to see the day when the transmission needs swapped out. Lol. I already feel it slipping sometimes. 😔
Just have it rebuilt or replaced. You feel it now, just put some money away for when it's time. Not a big deal. I'm replacing my engine and I'm not worried about it. I actually can't wait to have it done.
Love our 06 GMC yukonXL 1500, #149. 2+ yrs later, no major issues. The airbag light just came on, might be a loose wire or sensor any ideas? Only thing couldn’t figure out where water is leaking to the back trunk, not the ac so it maybe when we hand opened the ceiling fan. Note to self to always close the fan with the remote so it locks down or it flaps up on the hwy. would love the option to rhino-paint this thing! I’d love to buy another! So comfy and perfect height!
Glad to hear your reliabily conviction on this gen. I have the 04 Yukon Denali short wb (#212). 6.0 is fun to drive and mine is just getting broke in at 187,000. Same color as this Suburban.
can u ask you a question? i have a bottom end tick . is this common on this motors 6.0 ? 245,000 how worried should i be ? should i use lucus oil treatment or just stick with 5w or 10w im sure is the bottom end bearings making the sound no check engine light. would it be ok for me to actually drive it pass 3,000 rpm 😂😂😂😂
My 03 is on its third 4l60. Where are yiu sourcing transmissions? If this one goes out too I need to invest in something built better than the local shops are doing.
We haven't experienced going through ball joints with oe uca. People that run into that problem are usually trying to max out the suspension with the torsion key. It wasn't designed for that. We just do a moderate 2" or so lift up front.
Another solid video, Just straight to the point with everything! We released a portable jump starter. Can we invite you to do a review? We have emailed for an inquiry.
I have a 2004 Burb with a 5.3 with full time awd, with a 4wl option. It also has 9 row seating. 175000 original miles. I’ve never seen another one with those options. She’s a rare beast. I painted her desert tan, a roof rack, some good off road tires, and stripped her of the running boards, trim, and emblems except the Chevy on the back hatch. I love Burbs and I will hold onto this one forever.
Hey thanks for replying, you’re doing great work, and preserving history. Living a dream most could dream of. Been here since the beginning. I hope in 20 more years I see you on RUclips with a “barn find” of all the burbs you collected.

Sounds like a great one!

I have that same truck. Z71. Upgraded with the off road look. Love these trucks.
Love my '05 YukXL. 8.1L/4.10 gears. It's a tank.
I really like your work
Thanks!

What kind of lift do you have on your truck? Been slowly building mine out and I like your setup, done very well.
We have the detailed parts list on our website that you can purchase.
@@suboverland i'll check it out - thank you.
I bought a 2003 GMC Yukon XL 1500 , what’s your opinion on that make n model 5.3 ?

Are you keeping the OE control arms? No issues burning through ball joints with the torsion key lift?

Hello my friend and thanks for the info, one day I’ll stop by to say hello with my XKLNDR “Escalade overlander”
Thank you! I'd love to see it.
Where do you order your transfer cases from?
We have an account with AutoZone. They have a bunch of rebuild companies that they stock. Zumbrota is probably our most used.
