I’m a fan of both methods depending on the situation. But this year made me a big believer in building the soil on owned ground or ground with high yield potential. I had fantastic field averages on ground with P and K levels that are ridiculously high. Talking P levels that test 120ppm and K levels of 350-480ppm both Mehlich 3 tests. Corn on the high fertility fields averaged 250-270bu, my lower fertility fields where we apply removal plus 5% were anywhere from 200-225bu. We were very dry this year through harvest, about 12” below average for rain.

I like these conversations. I've used some of your products and I think they're good someone from little girl needs to come over so we can do a video together
With phosphorus we need to do our soil testing but we also need to be doing plant testing to make sure it's not some let's say Boron deficiency that is causing us what looks to be a phosphorus issue
As far as needing to add a pound of phosphorus because we removed a pound of phosphorus well that's a complete farce. Phosphorus can move on a soil test very quickly with soil health and soil life while adding minimal commercial phosphorus
If we look at the pounds of phosphorus that are planted actually takes up from broadcasting map or dap. We can easily replace that few pounds through a couple foliar passes or a side dress
