    I could not believe she didn't win an Emmy for her performance! It was the best I ever seen her act! Really gripping performance in episode "behave".

    Oh, OK, thanks!
    She indeed never actually studies acting, but she did have an acting coach when she was a teenager to help her out, since she actually started out by singing :)

    This episode threw me and I'm a guy. This is such a reprehensible crime I have often felt that it should carry a capital punishment. The average TV fan I don't think understands what is taken from a woman when she is raped. My hats off to Mariska for bringing this to the surface and Jennifer, who was worried if she was good enough, could actually pull off this performance, absolutely nailed it. I came away from this episode more educated and enlightened and much more certain that in my humble opinion, that rapists should face a death penalty.

    I've heard her sing and she certainly has a decent voice. As far as I know she hasn't released anything since BARE NAKED in 2002.

    WHY DID SHE NOT GET CAST IN SEASON 13

  • @lewisbryce15
    @lewisbryce15 14 лет назад +5

    she seemed like a method actor on the show though..

    When I said Jennifer would use her imagination I was mostly referring to what faces to make and how to use her voice. Some actors like Humphrey Bogart or George C. Scott would practise in front of a mirror what face to make for each line. I'm not sure if she ever studied acting at all or is self taught. Good luck on your exam!

    @adcv123 its basically when you channel your own feelings and emotions and when the actor goes to extreme lengths just to see how he/she would feel as the character

    Stella Adler stressed the text and then finding the emotional sub-text between the lines and paying attention to costume, props and how the character relates to them as well as the other characters. Strasberg stressed the actor's revealing their own feelings- 'private moment.' Stella said 'Don't use your conscious past. Use your creative imagination to create a past that belongs to your character. I don't want you to be stuck with your own life. It's too little.'

    @Parhell It really was. I was amazed by JHL's performance, and I'm not a big fan of her

  • @NatashaMelissa07

    Wow, very nice explanation! Method acting is linked to Lee Strasberg right? So is what Jennifer doing Stella Adler's approach? Or is that different too?

  • @1915fas

    @adcv123 A method actor is trained to use personal memories to feel the emotions of the character. They might meet a rape victim and hear their story and try and find something in their own life that caused them to feel similar emotions. This would obviously be difficult to do for a character such as this. A technical actor such as Jennifer would have to rely on imagination to come up with the right facial expressions, etc.. without actually feeling the emotions herself.

      "...without actually feeling the emotions herself. "
      is it bad to feel the emotions of a real story? it could be realy educating without the real thrill. Sometimes it might be disturbing if thats a bad exprience like this. You have to be strong about it. And it might be unhealty for an actor to feel every role deeply ...

    Question: in light of episodes like this, is it more satisfying to know thst a rapist, once convicted, will face years of torture and torment both physically and mentally within the prison walls for their crime against humanity......or to just execute them under capital punishment laws like the true animals against society they are ???
