The pads don’t give much protection when the guy hitting you weighs close to 300lbs and has a full head of steam lol. Love the video, you should check out some of the skill position highlights of football to see how insanely athletic those players are. Like best jukes or catches

In NFL history there truly is some amazing stuff. Just unbelievable, last minute game winning plays. I jokingly call the NFL not for long, because in the NFL a LOT can happen in one or two minutes. Some wild stuff that freaks us out! And we are used to it!
Once you get fully involved with it and maybe pick a team, you will see what all buzz is about. This pandemic has really made the game a lot less exciting to watch. A huge roaring crowd makes all the difference. I’m sure you guys are very familiar with that. When you asked if you’d catch it on the second try if you saw someone coming as soon as you touch the ball your legal to hit so my coaches used to teach us you might as well catch it because your going to get lit up regardless

As you can see, an NFL average career is not very long. Only the exceptional last past 5 years. It’s truly brutal. These guys play hurt all the time. But when it’s spectacular it’s spectacular! That’s why we love it. If you watch for a while and learn exactly how the sport works, it doesn’t get much better in some games. Just amazing athletes. When it’s your team kicking ass, it’s great fun! Like you’re football. But ours is more dramatic.
These guys are monsters. Very large human beings. Check them out when they stand next to a normal sized person to get some perspective.

Imagine running at full speed and then being blindsided as another 250 lbs man full of adrenaline and leading with his shoulder slams into you at full speed. Lmao. Plastic pads and helmets can only do so much when you get your shit rocked. That's partly why players, especially on offense, retire so young. Taking hits like that all the time don't always exactly hurt, but it really wears down your body and sometimes your brain. Concussions are less of a problem than they used to be, but they still happen. Many of these players have played American Football since they were kids and by the time they're 35-40 years old, their body can't take being hit and tackled anymore.
American Football started as a combination of Rugby Football and Association Football (Soccer) in the 1860's between Universities (Harvard was one of the first to play invent the game). The rules became more standard over the years and it was a very dangerous games. Teams would line up and have shoving matches to try to move the ball. It was common to suffer broken jaws, arms, hands, and noses as people would fall and be trampled. In 1907 (or 1906, I don't remember exactly), 17 people died playing American Football. The game was almost banned, but American President Teddy Roosevelt intervened and forced Universities make the game safer. Helmets and light pads were introduced as well as new rules, like the forward pass. This marks the start of American Football as we know it. People still suffer severe concussions and spinal injuries, but the sport is safer than has ever been. New rules prevent less Head-to-Head contact as well as changes to tackling forms and such. I love this sport I grew up with! Thanks for reacting!

Being tackled, during the tackle, is painless really. You're aware of the impact and you get jolted, but the pain doesn't come right away. It sneaks up on you after standing up from the hit lol.
If you did what you're talking about, getting out of the way when someone's about to hit you, it's called "hearing footsteps", you'll get your butt chewed out by the coach.

Ray Lewis was a fucking freight train in human form. When you played against Baltimore, he punished you for touching the ball. I also never saw anyone get his team more fired up before the game than Ray. Truly a legend.

The ones you don't see sometimes don't hurt as much as ones you take or challenge head on. When you don't see them, it always looks bad but it's how you land more that determines if it hurts. If you land on your head or bounce you head on the ground you can get knocked out or rattled because there is no give.
Think of wrestling. WWE Like running into a clothesline or drop kick. When you don't see them your feet are not under you or braced so you are almost like paper to the guy with full head of steam. He can run through you like you not there. A lot of hits or tackles that don't look like much hurt both defender and offensive player because both are delivering impact. Those times feel like you ran into concrete wall or head bouncing off ground.
Most running backs are incredibly tough and can deliver and take incredible punishments. Sometimes though the D-lineman who are biggest defenders get free and hammer the running backs and those are border line not fair. If running back can't make you miss they are in real trouble those D line have anywhere from 75-100lbs plus on the running backs. They can't win those.

When running they kind of lean forward so they are able to hit you with their shoulders. At like 20 mph that hurtss

There is a lot of concussions in American football. Look how many players get lifetime brain damage from the sport. Imagine if they didn't have helmets or protection. These guys on average are about 6 ft and about 300 pounds.
So, yeah, they’re all doped up but tbh I don’t care. They get paid exorbitant amounts of money to perform at the highest possible levels of human capability. Point being that they have a better chance to exponentially raise that income by juicing and numbing injuries as much as possible. The thing that I truly believe will change football forever is the issue with CTE. It’s a real problem and people are either going to demand serious change for safety reasons or we are just going to have to accept that more people than we’d like to know are being irreparably damaged and could pose a danger to themselves and more importantly others.
Anyways I love the reaction and I’ll be watching more. Much love and merry Christmas from Louisiana.
