My Dad, shot this commercial. He always remembered the French test pilot...he asked if he could land the aircraft on top of the camera (they build a sandbag bunker around it) on runway...his response 'But of course...you mark spot I land spot'
sorely missed era.these days with some exceptions almost all sectors operated by qantas domestic are 737's.yes more frequencies but for those of us old enough to remember a300's and later post the taa/australian merger with qantas 767's it sucks we have gone back in time to before wide bodies came along.
After James Strong (R.I.P good sir) left, the whole TAA, AA, brand to Qantas turned to sh*t.! I met James many a times and he was the only C.E.O to come and visit every department and person at the Maintenance base. Best days ever to look forward to go to work. People were more at peace and proud of the work they did. Days like that in this day and age will never come again.
+Zayne Moncrieff TAA was Australia's Government owned Domestic Airline. Qantas the Government owned International Airline. TAA was re-branded Australian Airlines with the introduction of the B737 in 1986. Then in 1994 the Government merged Australian Airlines (formerly TAA) with Qantas, Qantas then bacame "The Australian Airline" in place of "The Spirit of Australia". From then on Qantas became a Domestic and International Airline. I hope this helps.
Yes very 1981 miss it TAA now but I always flew Ansett Airlines of Australia old school 1970's up until 2001. 2020 nothing runs but virus runs and Virgin... Can I have a disease please? Ansett 727.

I remember when Ansett Brought their 767's into service with a slogan saying why take a bus when you can fly in a Boeing.
I miss TAA very much.
Excellent. A valuable part of Australian aviation heritage.
