*Hi, thanks for watching. There are a few Jaguar-related videos on the Old Classic Car channel now, so please take a look after watching this XJ12 vid, full list is here: **ruclips.net/channel/UCKaTg9fPUvmUQi94FcnDbrg** If you're also a fan of the early XJs, please add a comment below, thanks, RJ.*
Thank you for this excellent and informative video. The brochures are part of the automotive collector experience and I enjoyed watching you share these with us on RUclips.
Fantastic cars, I'm sure I will buy one in the near future. My Father always had Jags, MK2, E-Type series 1.5 and an XK150. My mother worked at GEC next door to Jaguar, she was in the office when they rolled out the first E-type, she said it was an amazing sight and the whole of GEC went out to look at it.
I agree, the series 1 always looked better from the front than the series 2. The photograph @ 10.55 was taken in Pfisterngasse a street in Solothurn Switzerland. A long way to drive for just one shot to put in a brochure when others were taken in North Wales! But what about the photo with the logging and the lake, surely not Canada?
My car is a magnificent series 3 last of the line Daimler double six just 20k on the clock and from Japan . After changing the speedo from KPH to MPH , I really wanted to buy an English handbook but cant find one anywhere as would love to know what other delights my car has to offer .
Most recently I purchased a 1973 series 1 SWB XJ12.... it's been "out of service" for about 25 years....with just 54k (miles) on the clock Its in pretty shape. Looking to have it as a daily driver in about 6-10 months! I also own a 1971 XJ6 that IS a daily driver, as well as a 1990 XJS-C, and a 1996 XJ6 VDP. CURRENTLY most excited about my (new to me) Series 1 XJ12!!!! 😊
Pretty sure the beach is Black Rock Sands near Porthmadog in North Wales. I’ve been reading about an early car that may have been used for the brochure and motor show. It is a red LWB with a 6 digit reg., so I’m not sure whether it is the car in this brochure or not. My brother has just bought chassis 2C 1010 BW which is probably the 10th LWB RHD car. It is sable brown as per one of the cars featured in this brochure. It might be that Jaguar used Coventry reg numbers that they already had to dress these two cars for the photo shoots, then sent them (still unregistered) to be delivered to dealers for their out launch events. After taking some orders they could have been sold and registered for the first time. Apparently Jaguar Heritage has no record of which chassis numbers were used for what Press and Launch activities, so it will only ever be surmised!
I think the cars in this particular brochure are all the earlier swb type, my car back in the 1990s was a lwb XJ12L but if I had the choice again I'd go swb.
Hiya. I’m pretty sure the beach pics are at Black Road Sands the other side of Porthmadog from Portmirion. The beach has long been open for people to park on during the day and still is. The Manic Street Preachers used it for an album cover too.

Best car in the world at the time IMO.
I've seen some trumpeting the Merc 450SEL 6.9 but that was an unrefined V8.

Yes they are amazing cars, thanks for checking out the vid

~WK is also a Coventry registration.
Many Triumph press vehicles came with a ~WK plate.

There are a few on ebay (the handbook covers both the Jaguar and the Daimler versions).

The Series 1 XJ12 is a wonderful creation, I loved driving my '72 XJ12L although the thirst for fuel was eye-watering
whats the price for it?
Congratulations bro. M

Always like the series 1 jag.
Agreed, the swb in particular doesn't have a bad angle on it IMO especially with the V12's grille
Photos taken at portmerion in north wales, beach shots taken there too I would guess.
Ah thanks for that, that rings a bell now but at the time I couldn't recall what I'd read about this years back
