Thanks to the people below that explained what the song is about.. We get to see a younger Bard and Vegard. I think the music they made at the very end around 3:30 or so... is very clever and fun. Talented then.... talented now.
This is all I gather from the song in terms of information and translation to English. - Please correct me if I'm wrong or missing something and I will fill it in! :) Norwegian: There was a quiet summer night, the fox out of his hole he slipped, for he was going out on a chicken hunt in the farmer's roost, yes. Roost! yes, roost! yes! for he was going out on a chicken hunt in the farmer's roost. Thank you very much! Swedish song phrases from "Alla ska sove för nu är det natt" written by Astrid Lindgren(???) Ends with "I feel best in an open roost ...!" - Modified version of "Öppna landskap" written by Ulf Lundell Danish words, ending with Denmark's Eurovision Song Contest winner (2000); "Fly on the wings of love" by Olsen Brothers German sounds and words including "Derrick", a tv-series running for close to 25 years. French mumbling, mixing up the words "Je ne parle pas français" meaning "I don't speak french"...."Pommes Frites!!" Dutch Jamaican Asian brand names (missing language here?) Khoesan, African languages with clicking consonants We will end with a version from Oslo..eehm.. I don't know if you have it in Haugesund, because I haven't been here in the summer, but here is at least a summer version from Oslo, called "Karl-Johan version"! (Karl Johan is a street in Oslo filled with street musicians in the summer. Most likely referring to an eastern European dance.)
I'm having trouble with the German words in the start. He's singing so fast and my German is rusty nowadays (and they might also do their Ylvis thing and just mimic German...). But in the end of the German verse he's singing about 2 cars (Golf and Audi) on the highway. And then DAMMIT DAMMIT, I am a Criminal Investigator. My name is Derrick. Ja!
Kelly Fitzpatrick The pinguish is probably inspired from that (and the pingu tv show) , but it does sound like part of the african language without the clicking. I'm not sure what it is.. :o
As for the German verse, they end it with "wadde hadde dudde da" which was the title of the German entry for the ESC back in 2000. You can read up on it on the English wiki. Seeing as they that with the Danish verse as well, I wonder whether there are more of those easter eggs hidden in the song?
There's a reference to Ulf Lundell's Öppna Landskap at the end of the Swedish bit. And a reference to the famous German TV detective Derrick during the German verse.
Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, German, French (basically he's only singing "I don't speak french"), Dutch, Jamaican, Japanese, Eskimo (???), and the train-thing is meant to parody Oslos most busy street.

Fun fact - this is parody of a Norwegian cover of a traditional English folk song called "The Fox". It's all come full circle.
My Norwegian friend is slowly introducing me To Ylvis and my god I'm happy he has! This is the hardest I've laughed at a song since Monty Python x3
Tror seriøst jeg ville ledd med ihjel på et show med Ylvis, bokstavelig talt. De er jo geniale! Ingen over, ingen ved siden:)

You have to search up the video where Ylvis calls a hotel in Amstedam to book a room. In bogus dutch. Hilarious.

The french mumbling is actually "Je ne parle pas français" though with the words mixed up a bit. It translates to "I don't speak french"
Felauryan Ah, brilliant! :)

Could the missing language be what Ylvis eventaully developed into Pingu-ish?
Kelly Fitzpatrick The pinguish is probably inspired from that (and the pingu tv show) , but it does sound like part of the african language without the clicking. I'm not sure what it is.. :o

The only one I can think of is that he says Fujitsu-Siemens at the end of the Asian one.
