Wait, so if this actually happened: Shuichi would’ve framed Tsumugi, but Tsumugi killed Rantaro too and figured out the way to the secret entrance. It was put in the girls bathroom so he could not have been a suspect, and whoever found it first he would’ve framed for it. Tsumugi would’ve still killed Rantaro, but (1) that was because Tsumugi thought that Rantaro had seen her walk out of the elevator thing and think she was the mastermind, or (2), she was too scared that the timer was going to run out, so out of worrying, killed him. Shuichi took this as an advantage, and made Kaede the blackened, since at the time there was no way he would’ve known about the secret passageway. Also: that would’ve made him less likely to be the mastermind because, who in their right mind would kill one of their closest friends? Kaito and Kokichi, if they would’ve known, oh god so much *despair..* There would most likely be a Chapter 7 proving that Shuichi is the mastermind, Chapter 6 would still be the same, but Tsumugi would have been given a proper execution. And then, after that, Monokuma said that their wrong, and that he will give them a second chance, but the trial would’ve started off with Shuichi saying that he’s the mastermind, then we would switch to Maki and have to say that he is. Maki would have flashbacks of the work-outs, and would have a ton of *despair,* which is the point! It ends the same way as the end of the game, except for having 2 survivors: Maki and Himiko. Sorry if this is bad and I wasted your time, but thank you for reading!
I feel like a few things would have to be tweaked in the game. For example, I think Shuichi should’ve “stumbled” on the flashback light one too many times and some others like Kokichi would get suspicious of Shuichi, but since he is the only one aside from Gonta remotely trustable Kokichi would’ve been in a difficult situation so he decided to stay by Shuichi. Kokichi would try to hang out with Shuichi more to give him an excuse to investigate him. Maybe Kokichi could’ve confirmed Shuichi as the mastermind but fell too much into despair and instead planned with Kaito to kill Kokichi instead of tell everyone because Kokichi has no one else who would listen to him at that point. I feel like Kokichi should’ve done this because I like him but also he has things from past things in his room investigating trying to find a connection like a real Ultimate detective. No one else tried to do that.
Maybe if Kaede is the Protagonist this would be a great plot for tge Game. I mean she found out her friend Wait! No! Her Lover is the person she wants to eradicate the most from the first place. and would be a diffrent ending where she decide to Kill Him or Spare him?

If Shuichi had been the mastermind it would've been the greatest twist ever, simply because the gamed revolved around lies, and we are told countless times that everyone trusted Shuichi. And If he were the mastermind I would've been curious to see if we'd still play as him, if he'd still be the protagonist, and if he would've betrayed their trust.
Lol, why everyone think about "Shuichi Mastermind instead of Tsumugi", when we should consider him being Mastermind ABOVE Tsumugi. Like, if everyone and everything is a fiction, she can be one too. Actually, why not return into that one question we faced during the trial... Book about Hope's Peak was real. Then, why did Tsumugi gave fake facts about it, so she can be exposed and truths about show too? Well, if we consider that there is a REAL Remnant of Despair that is real mastermind exist, he could just easily set up the show to be failure for Tsumugi from the start. And then just throw himself into it, acting all right and innocent. Like, didn't it felt kind of wrong with Shuichi being the only fully normal person there? In 1st Ronpa everyone was pretty much normal people with their own strange things and Makoto didn't felt like too different from them. In 2nd Ronpa pretty much everyone felt like halfway insane freaks and giving the setting and truth we can understand why, program just overdone their characters. But 3rd...everyone except Shuichi feel like they are freaks and yes, show characters, especially with their talents, but Shuichi? He is the most "non special" and normal there that was kind of odd all the time. So yea, I'm pretty into this fanon about Shuichi being one of last hiding Remnants of Despair who actually managed to get his hands on abandoned school, started undercover revival of Ultimate Despair and after gathering everything he needed, he started this show, Danganronpa V3 - planed the story, stole children, hijacked TV and threw it there across the Japan to fool new Hope's Peak(with Kokichi fake remnant and Tsumugi fake "real" mastermind and himself being all good, cute new "hope boy") and get close to Makoto stabbing his back and getting over the world. Wow, this is big, lol

I actually really like the idea of Mastermind Shuichi secretly doing everything he can to protect Kaede, whether or not she actually killed someone. Cause it’d be interesting to see a sympathetic Mastermind rather then just the stereotypical Supervillain that goes like “Mwahahahahahaha I’m a piece of evil sh^t and lack a soul entirely” that Junko and Tsumugi were. My theory is that Tsumugi was the other person who sacrificed them self to save the killing game. Rantaro had his memories taken and Tsumugi was given memories that make her think like the mastermind, along side Team Danganronpa giving her many privileges so that Shuichi doesn't have to worry about getting caught himself.
Well i saw a theory that maybe tsumugi dressed up as them ir perhaps cosplayed as them and made those fake videos and that these pregames are fake and also that tsumugi's "cospox" was fake or even if it wasn't she probably triggered it some other way

mastermind!shuichi AU idea: after chapter one and Kaede's execution, Shuichi is moved by rage, finds tsumugi is the mastermind, kills her in a fit of rage/despair, but to escape being a blackened, he becomes the mastermind himself, frames the murder on somebody else, and ends up slowly losing himself with each chapter until chapter six where he completely loses his shit on everybody else, revealing himself, ending up as a blackened and executed, but he makes sure his own execution dooms everybody else as well
Imagine if they make a Danganronpa V3 anime where pregame Shuichi is the villain of the story who is the most obsessive fans out of all Danganronpa fans, and pregame Kokichi from the outside world is actually the protagonist of the story. Kokichi realized how horrifying this Danganronpa show is and how it's changing the people around him into obsessive DR fans (also a bit theory, Kokichi had an older brother/family member who was a DR fans too and died in a killing game). He tried his best to approach the people about it and stop Danganronpa but instead he got kidnap and put in a Danganronpa killing game, the show he feared the most. (OR, Kokichi has a plan to end Danganronpa from the very beginning by volunteering himself into the killing game. Soon after he got in, Kokichi learns the truth about the killing game and what his pregame self has been planning, and so he did.) Then there's Shuichi, an obsessive evil Danganronpa fan who willingly to do anything for team Danganronpa as long Danganronpa will stay alive and volunteering himself in a killing game to liven up his favorite show and achieving his goal to become one with Danganronpa.

Whoa! Shuichi as a Mastermind is Actually a pretty Cool concept. The amount of Despair he would be able to bring once he turns out to be the Mastermind of the game,Although a bit overused, is entertaining nonetheless. Kaede's death would be more Hopeless if that actually happened.
I wish the game was like this:
Everything goes according to the original,but Tsumigi is the culprit of Rantaro and there is no frame or whatever and they find out Shirogane is the first culprit.After that,everything goes the same as original,but Kaede is the protag and Shuichi is the support (also training trio gains ).Now the left ones are Kaede,Shuichi,Keebo,Maki and Himiko.The traitor is Kaede Akamatsu,and the Mastermind behind the killing game is Shuichi Saihara.But no one guessed the mastermind correctly,and they all thought it was Shirogane. So they lose the class trial,and Kaede and Shuichi won.After they figured out about they starting the killing game after they tell them,their face would be despairfull.I think there would be a line like this:
(Shuichi):Ah,you should see this despairfull faces of yours!How wonderfull~
(Himiko):S-Shuichi?!K-Kaede you too?How could you do that!?I thought we were friends!
(Kaede):Guess you trusted the wrong person.Did you forget one rule?You can never trust anyone in this game. Now trusting cost your life...
(Maki):Wow,I really made a mistake by trusting,huh.
After they get executed,Kaede Akamatsu and Shuichi Saihara escapes this killing game together.And they are also planning on a new one...
