Season 4 Episode 6: In Arizona, a shipment of money vanished without a trace, along with the two men hired to guard it. Agents didn't know if the guards were willing participants or victims of an ambush. When the vehicle was recovered -- but with hundreds of thousands of dollars and the drivers missing - suspicions grew that the crime was an inside job.

It’s amazing how the story was told. It sounded so recent but this was back in 1977
I watch/listen to these while I do paperwork at work
Me too. It's become like music for me...

I play nba 2k to this
"Paperwork" is code for bathroom break at work 🤣🤣🤣🤣
So sad about those guards. Killed on the job they enjoyed and were extremely loyal to. On the eve of their retirement they were murdered. 20 years of hard work and so close to the beginning of a time when they were able to relax and all of it is stripped away in less than a day. So sad.
Yeah that's horrible and even crazier that a lot of movies have the same plot.
They should have followed company rules and not opened the van's doors. Nothing the two Poland maggots could have done then except to wait for their own arrests.
they knew the risk
I am surprised as well. I wonder why the guards stopped and opened the vans door knowing damm well that it was against company's procedure.
😂😂😂😂😂
I love watching FBI Files.
IK Right Me 2
I really feel sorry for what happened to these two guards, especially since they've been loyal in their service for 20 years and were just weeks into retirement. My condolences to their spouse and rest of family. Truly a sad case!
Hope the security company take care the 2 families.
Yes, senseless to murder them, they might have known a description, but it's not like they were such a liability that they had to be killed. Especially when they were caught anyway, through their own mistakes. Ruthless, cold hearted c*nts.
Totally agree !
@@umedavk2011
Yeah they should have enjoyed their senior years in comfort. I'm a retiree myself and let me tell you, despite growing older and having a few minor disabilities this is a great time to be alive. These two rotten brothers stole a lot more than the money.
These kinds of videos are instructive both in good and bad ways. Like it tells would be future killers not to dump bodies in the lake. Nor to rent any equipment and not to spend any money during the immediate aftermath of this crime. No paper trails! The first part of their planned robbery went well. They really fooled the Purolator guards and got all the money. Which in 1978 dollars held much more real value than today.
However the weak link in their crime was dealing with the witnesses. Killing them drastically upped the consequences. Yet throwing them into Lake Mead involved a boat rental. Several more witnessese there if you include both the boat and tow truck company. Instead if they had simply dumped the corpses in the wooded high country it most likely wouldn't have been discovered for months if ever. Heck even just leaving them on the side of the road was preferrable to their actual effort.
The dumping of the bodies may not have been the part of the crime easily proved in court, but it was the part that led FBI investigators onto the trail of the suspects. Like I said, had they just left them old boys on the side of the road there wouldn't have been anything linking the Feds to the Poland Brothers. And this video wouldn't exist.
@@jorgecallico9177 They always make a mistake for smart investigators to trail. Hindsight is always 20-20. They would have thought they had their tracks well covered but it's usually not clean.
This is why following protocol is very important. Instructed not to open the door even to the police but they actually do. For almost 20 years in the service, their lives were put to an end for violating the protocol.
Thats true, but it also comes off like victim blaming. They violated protocol and paid for it dearly but it was still the fault of the criminals at the very end of the day for why they’re no longer alive.
They were killed because someone killed them....end of story
I PRAISE that agent for what he said "Money can always be replaced, a life cannot"....I hate money. Its not real and people kill for it 😓

@ Ron Brandt , When i Heard the Guy at the Gas Station say that As well i Actually thought, "How Stupid are Some people!!"... Its Not Even like he Needed to Call The FBI to Report what he Saw and Thought was possibly the Suspects, The Stupid Clerk Surely Knew how to Contact His Local 'Police Station' to Report his Suspicions.. Instead of like you Pointed out he Said "I Was Hoping to See you'se Guy's🤔"... Makes me Wonder IF The Gas Station Clerk Got a Back Hander 💰💵💰 to Wait long Enough for the Fugitives to Get Away!!???.... Like its a Well known Fact Alot of People Actually do Have a Price and If that Price Is/Was Right Who's to Say the Teller at the Gas Station Never had a Price Especially with the Amount of Money the Armed Robber's Got Away with and Considering how Much he Probably made Selling Fuel... I Know if it was me in the Same Situation and Not Actually knowing what the Guys had Done when helping them get there Jeep Unstuck i Would have Challenged the Con's Right there and Said to Them, " Cross my Palms with Gold Or Silver and I'll Say Anything you want me to!!"... That Is Until i Knew by the Next day they Should be Mile's and Mile's Away by Now and Chance's are they'd be Caught So I'd Expect Not to See them Again Or For Atleast a Very Long time....

It’s okay to steal the money (it’s insured) but not okay to kill the guards
Being a guard is a very dangerous job .
True...Its not hard, but dangerous.
I wish they just took the money and left the guards alive...
Had they successfully got rid of the bodies of the security gaurds/couriers, the FBI wouldve thought it was them that stole the money, instead of the Poland Brothers...
I don't understand how you can just take life much less two there is no need for it..these poor men were weeks away from retiring that's just so sad. i think if you can walk away and instead you kill it should be an automatic death penalty. so many cases I watch here and they kill just for the sake of it and they still get caught..like the bank manager in another case who the robbers tied to the chair 🪑 and threw him into the river alive...can you imagine his terror 💔the cost of a retrial will be too much money this is outrages what about the two guard's families .thank God for the guy who went back to court to retry the killers 💔 death is the only fit punishment 💔💔

Two dummies: they didn't have to kill the guards...
"I've been waiting for someone to contact me" 🙄 what the heck? 😒 CALL THE POLICE YOURSELF!! ...... they don't know what happens unless YOU tell them, unbelievable some people!
If it was that hard for a bunch of FBI with all the resources and budget they have had to finally track down the suspects imagine how hard it would be for that man to tell and analyze and eventually call the police to tell them that some random guys committed a crime just because of that dust he saw on their truck. He can call the police IF AND ONLY he saw the actual act of crime.
I thought the exact same same thing when I heard it.
@@wildernessandme1744 That's nonsense. You can always call the police and tell them about something you think is suspicious. Than it's up to the police to look into it or not. If he called right away, this crime would be probably way easier to solve

TowTruckDude: No, no, no, you don't understand these people had NO FISHING GEAR!

Back in the TV days we would go back to sleep after a crime show. Now we get to comment.
They give this show on COURTTV at night mostly after 2 A.M.
These criminals could have gone to university. Used their skills to rob and kill shameful. The love of money is truly the root of all evil. These men worked and were ready to retire. All murderers should receive the death penalty. Those who show no mercy should not receive any.
Thing is if you gave every murder the death penalty what about those that have actually had their conviction changed after 20+ years in prison because they didn't do it! Might be few but they are there..

c) did they recently bought new vehicles (especially cars, motorcycles and jet ski's)
d) did they start throwing money around in casino's or strip clubs ?

Company’s PROCEDURE !!!
Am I missing something ? Why did they decide to charge the robbery and the murders separately ? In doing so, the jury is not allowed to put the two together hence making it so much harder to convince the jury in the murder trial especially with no physical evidence !
Because the murder was not under federal jurisdiction where as the robbery and kidnapping were as those were federal crimes. Had the murder taken place across state lines it would have become federal.
