This comes down to you fundamentally misunderstanding the stats that go into mvp contention. Its not just points, the most important stats for mvp is handles/game and the teams average score increase over 100 possessions while the player is on the field. As dominate as LeBron James was, he simply handled the ball less and contributed less overall points to his team individually than some other players; his teams didn't tend to play solely around him, so he wasn't that high in contention. Best example of true mvp is jokic right now. He has the highest average possessions per game and the highest average points per 100 team possessions of all time, and when hes off the court the team drops dramatically
Or it could be that the smartass that named the award "Most VALUABLE Player" doesn't really understand what Value is. If you remove Shaq from those early 2000s Laker teams they don't have 3 championships. I think sometimes people water down the game of basketball with stats instead of watching, if your stats tell you that prime Shaq isn't the most valuable player in the league, then I don't want to look at the stats or care for that award at all
@HoopNuke as I said, you simply have no understanding of value, very funny you're saying the person who made the statistic is the one that's wrong 😂 reread my comment, and actually look up the stats. Statistically speaking, shaq had many seasons where whether he was on the floor or not the team was fine, the amount of extra points his team got from playing him vs benching him was not as high in a couple seasons. I really think you just dont understand numbers my guy
Im so glad someone knows what mvp actually means because I really just saw a comment saying they are basically surprised that d wade never got a regular season mvp
@@drewhernandez2691 a lot of basketball fans are just plain stupid. They can't comprehend a player that's less flashy can be statistically more important to a teams success than their main shooter. Jokic really is the perfect example, if he were a top tier defensive player and kept his offensive dominance he would statistically be the absolute goat bar none. But MJ was a goat on offense and defense so imo he edges jokic out
I don't get the stat, but if the coach plays all the starters together wouldn't that scew the stat? Also Jokic might not win, SGA might win because okc is a higher seed, and if the Bucks continue to rise up un standings than Giannis might win, but if the Nuggets stay the 6th seed I don't see him winning.
Yea that's crazy, I mean he did play in the most competitive era for superstars like he had to compete against Kobe, Lebron,Melo,Durant, Westbrook,Duncan etc there was soo much talent in that time period when he played
Subscribe because that would be nice :)
